Of all the how-to videos on You Tube I've not seen one presentation as fully instructive as yours. Most of the presenters who lost the memory of how they felt in the beginning watching some speed-speaker try to get his lesson across. I have re-watched some videos 10 times and with due diligence I still miss salient points. Thanks a million!
How do you invert a photo in lightburn so you can engrave slate and granite etc? I would love to see a video on the full lightburn photo process with inversion.
Beautiful work. Have you ever tried the white paint on a sanded piece of black slate coaster? Really enjoy your channel. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Hey good day Robert. Sooo timely - I just ordered some polished granite for experimenting. Thanks so much for the excellent, detailed tutorial. I did not know about the Painter's Paint trick. Hope you are well and thanks again for sharing many excellent ideas and tutorials. Cheers!
Hey Robert. I have been working on the granite lately. Thanks for the settings, mine are just slightly adjusted from yours. The engrave comes out clean and crisp - which is good, it is not a very deep engrave, which is ok - it is still excellent however when I apply the Paint, and remove it, I kind of remove all the paint because the engrave is not very deep. Any thoughts my friend?
@@computercreationz LOL. Good morning Robert. I messed up. The paint does make a huge difference - I accidentally paint filled all my test engraves and then had nothing left to compare it to. So I did the test again and only paint filled one of the test engraves and then compared. Yup, the paint DID stay in there. LOL. So sorry - all good - I think I need a coffee. LOL.
Good morning Robert. Just a recommendation concerning Northwest Branded Digital files. After purchasing ask if the “BG”(I think that’s background) is removed from files. Especially when doing slate/marble, as it looks like your graphic is in fog. I had done 2 different projects before I asked her about the issue. (Still new to lasting). Denise quickly responded and resent the files with “BG” removed.
Thank you for your video. New to more complicated laser designs and lightburn. Had bought some art from Denise and she was explaining some instruction that you just covered. So thank you. Is engraving on slate basically the same as the granite
@@computercreationzone other issue I seem to be having is that not only is the image engraving but also the surrounding area(which is coming out gray/white). The only difference is that I had fill all shapes at once and you had fill shapes individually. Can you help me
@@Steve-rr3gc if you use a PNG image, it has a transparent background that will not show up/engrave (like JPEG and BMP) when you do a negative image for engraving on black things like granite or slate
Pro tip: if you’re just looking for scrap stone to practice engraving on, look up countertop shops near you. The amount of stone they pay to throw away is insane. Plenty of places would happily let you take some pieces of scrap, although it may not be in neat pieces. Putting it on one of their bridge saws and cutting it into squares would be trivial for them though so you could also ask about that.
Nice video. 1 correction would be that .PNG "Supports" transparency, but does not mean all .PNG files have transparency. So, where a JPG can not have any transparency, simply saving a file with no transparent portions, will not suddenly add transparency. If your photo has a background, that must first be removed, before saving as a PNG. :)
I am absolutely in love with her artwork.
Yes, I feel the same way.

Wow, thanks!
I've bought several files from this Etsy store. They are beautiful.
That’s great news!
@Wompaks :) Thank you for your support :)

When you in the layer that has the image there should be a radio button to invert. toggle that radio button and engrave on anything black
@computercreationz thank you!
Nice tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to make this video
My pleasure!
Thanks!
Thank you very much
WOW....THAT'S AWESOME 👌
Glad you like it!

no I think the slate is porous enough it might be a mess. the polish on the granite is the only reason the white paint wipes off so nicely.

Hey Gord, ya this is allot of fun, let me know how it goes.
@@computercreationz I will for sure Robert. Have a nice weekend and thanks again!

Is your granite highly polished? If not it’s harder to deep the paint in the engraving . You want a fairly fast drying paint like I have in the video

@@LaserNUG good to hear you figured it out!
Have you tried using a fiber or UV laser to engrave on granite with LB? Would like to see if you could make a video on that. THX.
I don’t a UV but may try on my fiber. granite is expensive to play with. lol
Great video and tutorial Robert. Im going to give it a try. Curious...would this paint also work with engraving on slate?
I don’t think so even with putting on lacquer spray it may be too porous.

Yes same setup for sure, I usually spay my slate with lacquer before I engrave. It makes the engrave pop.

Looks like your source has marble but no granite! My apologies, found it buried on their page 😊
It’s there but it is harder to find
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
