  • The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, is a non profit organisation that rescues, nurses and nurtures young wildlife, eventually reintegrating them into the wild... I visited their elephant nursery in Nairobi- Kenya and came across a sweet story of elephants worth being told.... You can visit them on their website as well as their TH-cam page for further reading/learning and also make a donation of your choice.

    This was a real treat!!!!
    I don't think I will ever make it there and to see these babies. Was special to see Rama, who passed away in June, and to see Bondeni (our adopted rascal ) gave me immense joy. 😍

    24 litres of baby formula a day is wild😂. Humanity is beautiful, and there's the other end that won't waste a second to shoot all that work down for tusks. Very polarising concept; humanity.

    • @kiarieexploreske
      @kiarieexploreske  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Humans are truly mysterious... The contrast between that who builds and that who destroys is so conspicuous you'd ask if we all have the same origin... Thanks a lot for the feedback braza..

    • @kiarieexploreske
      @kiarieexploreske  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hahaha that is surely some homework. I will work on it and the feedback I will bring on a new video...

    • @missclaire4820
      @missclaire4820 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Elephants are just like us they have different personalities some are gentle calm some are not . An elephant never forgets and some may react aggressively towards humans because of past experiences, seeing their family slaughtered for example. Females with babies will also instinctively react to protect the younger members of the herd. The elephant that chased you most likely saw you as a threat and chased you to give you a warning as you lived to tell the tale.

    • @kiarieexploreske
      @kiarieexploreske  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@missclaire4820 I totally agree. It is very rare for an elephant (or any other wild animal) to react aggressively without some reason. These creatures have emotions and cognitive understanding just like us...

    The orphans are never released into the wild this is not true.
    At Voi or Ithumba the orphans will meet with and hopefully integrate into wild herds. This can take several years. At Umani Springs disabled elephants will more likely live out their lives. It is not unusual for orphans to join wild herds and visit Voi or Ithumba with their wild born babies. Equally true wild elephants have been known to seek medical attention at the reintegration centers, The commitment to the orphans is for their lifetime. The orphans leave the integration centers at their choice and should they return will be welcomed back. But the one thing that never happens is the orphans are NEVER released back to the wild. The orphans leave by choice by joining with wild herds or herds of previous orphans who choose to live free.
