Such a beautiful song. TWICE is my favorite group because they truly feel like a family. Their feelings they have for each other are genuine and they reciprocate it to their fans.

Some more context: Twice was insanely overworked in 2018 (the company was capitalizing on them being at the height of their popularity, on top of making moves to dominate Japan as well-- they released/promoted 4 Korean singles + 3 Japanese singles + 1 English cover single + several EPs that year), so a lot of the members were having a brutally hard time, leading to Mina having an anxiety-related mental health hiatus (which kind of set the standard for normalizing mental health hiatuses in K-Pop, I think).
JYP himself wrote the song for them about these struggles, and at the time most believed it was written in reference to Mina's situation specifically. However, I think it's been clarified by him since that he wrote it specifically after seeing the members help Sana through her struggles, although it really could apply to everything happening at the time.
It wasn't because of one particular individual. They were ALL having a difficult time. JYP talked with each of them before writing the song.

@@sodakdave9602That's basically what I said. It's broadly about all of them but the Sana thing was the direct/largest catalyst. It inspired him to write the song, and he also talked with each of them to iron it out.

@@richardkhchang Yes, JYP said that it was the first time he saw Sana losing her smile, so he began talking to the members and wrote this song for them. Also, I do agree that Twice is at time overworked, but the problem is that though the members wanted some rest, when given rest, they missed work...😅

During a talk with JYP, he got the inspiration to write this song for them as an appreciation of all the work they did, to him, to them, to each other, and to the fans. Mina was in a hiatus at this time, and her appearing on this music video was a complete shock and surprise to fans.

Since you do deep dives in twice videos why not add their dance choreography with reaction? Besides understanding the meaning you’ll see how they dance to it.
Time and editing is the simple answer. I react and I pay an editor or spend time editing.
And i watch things in my own time, like their dances.
Ok first the meaning of the song, your looking for smiles but to me the people who make you really feel special make you feel good INSIDE, you going to tell me you don't look at your wife and without smiling sigh and feel loved, that is what I feel they are trying to project inner peace. Now as to the songs origins and the confusion you will hear, JYP wrote this song for Sana because she lost her smile and he was worried that she might actually leave, No Sana No J-line no Twice no cash cow no sentiment all business. Twice had resolved the stress issues at the end of 2018, watch the M/V for "the best thing I ever did" which came out 2 days before the MAMA awards, those smiles tell you how they felt. Twice didn't need JYP to tell them that they only had to look to each other, that's why Twice turned his song on it's head and made it about the ships there is nothing new about these ships they existed from the start so they basically said yea we know. The one ship that I find the most important was Jeongyeon, who did she look to, herself but as they pan the camera out you see that actually all 9 members are on the top of those stairs, she is the rock that Twice stands on she needs them and they need her. The real emotion that ONCE's are feeling, imo, is that this M/V finishes what Fancy started, that Twice was no longer color pop they are now adults so in a sense we did lose Twice but long live Twice. In fancy the outfits are either the mature black ones or the colorful ones, new and old Twice, but in this video all the outfits are adult themed and a lot of ONCE's didn't like the change thus the confused emotions about losing Twice. OT9 forever (TIMELESS).
