Pigeons don't carry diseases that are communicable to humans. You can safely pick it up and feed and water it. Depending on your location, some birds get dehydrated during the Summers and drop out. I can not tell from the video if this bird has a chip ring or not, which would indicate if a bird was racing or just training or loft flying. Most owners will go out of their way to get a bird back if they are contacted.
Thanks for your comment. I was able to decipher the code on the bands and determined the association that the bird was associated with. Unfortunately by the time I called the association president, the bird had already passed away. I gave it water, but it wasn't interested. There was no reason for the owner to retrieve it. The person I spoke with used the number on the band to determine the owner and he told me he would contact him and tell him what happened. It was definitely in a race. It didn't make it all the way home. The race started in Oklahoma and the birds home was New Braunfels. Texas.
Thank you so much for giving the pigeon water, for home and letting her/him go in peace - I'm sure she felt safe and cared for❤ Those bird races are an awful thing😭
I did my best. I shelled some sunflower seeds and mixed them with some raw oatmeal, but it was too late I guess. It wasn't interested in drinking or eating. I don't know what else I could have done. I agree with you about the races. It was in the 90s for God's sake.
I had a racing pigeon in our garden a month ago in the uk and I was lucky to be pointed in the direction of a local fancier and he came and collected the bird, we were worried for the pigeon to remain in the garden overnight due the cats and foxes.
It’s not sick. It’s just tired of flying. It couldn’t keep up in the race and it is a racing Homa and it’s called a blue bar. If you look at the tags, there’s a site you can get on and you can give them the numbers and they’ll tell you exactly whose bird is it I fly homers as well. I am in New York and I have the same Birds same one exact a lot of people do but yes, the green one is a year band and that tells you is this she is bird. I’ll tell you either 23rd or the 24th and the other band is a chipput so they can track the bird as its flying. She is very tired and looks like a hen.
I race pigeons ,the birds are on a good race feeding program, but I'm sorry to say man are racing these birds many miles if you like these birds are forced to race 100mile upto 900miles all for man/woman's fun
Not really the guy who put it on a race is an idiot because if it isn't well trained it won't make 95% of people know how to train them. If it can fly around the loft for two hours without going inside it's ready if not you don't send it. And also I want to say that most birds are lost around the loft being attacked by hawks. Losing birds in a race is uncommon from that distance.

Poor little guy. 😢
Nice bird
Give it a drink and see how that does. It doesn't look particularly il, but suspect its exhausted from the race it was in.

The bird looks dehydrated beyond repair.
Very nice of you to try to help the homing pigeon! I would be very sad to lose a beautiful pigeon like that.

اگر کبوتر در هوای گرم پرواز کند به مدت یک ساعت حتی یا کمتر مریض میشود طبق تجربه من این کبوتر میمیرد یا اگر در فکر علاج هستین چند روز وقت میبره ❤❤❤

The race this one was in was almost 400 miles in 90 F temperatures.
They call it a sport, more like cruelty.
