They will come back close in a day or two. I've caught one a couple of different times, same situation, a string around the feet. It caused a swollen foot and difficulty walking. It's heartbreaking to see. The one healed up back to normal after I removed the string and let the bird go. I was so happy for it. Unfortunately the other one I had to leave at a vet's office after pleading for help. He had told me he had to euthanize it because the string was too deep and had cut off circulation to the foot. So sad. You do the best you can to help them. They come to know you mean no harm. I too, have pigeons coming to our yard for many years now. They are my joy. I have hand tamed a few, given them names, and have known them for several years. It's good to see fellow pigeon enthusiasts. There are too many haters. I hope your neighbours aren't giving you a problem. I've had to cut back on the seed a bit because it does get to become an 'army'. I love them all. Best of luck to you and many happy years with them. It is an absolute joy having a close bond with them.❤

One of my neighbors was the one previously feeding them for years and years. The other neighbor doesn't seem to have a problem even though they land on her roof. Her roof is starting to get moss but not where the pigeons are. I previously had an African gray that I had to rehome when I had my first child. The bird was trying to attack my little girl over jealousy. Now pigeons have taken that place.
The pigeons definitely came back right away they just are very skeptical of myself and definitely on edge but I will work on that. Have a great day and stay safe!

@@pigeonarmy426 Good to know things are calm in the neighbourhood. Sorry to hear about your gray and your child situation. Hope the pigeons bring a better experience for you both.🙂

Both his feet were wrapped up pretty bad but I think in the end he'll survive.

@@pigeonarmy426 Some will walk into your doorway. It's amazing! I've had to lovingly scooch them back outside.🐦

@@pigeonarmy426 My method to tame them ( I am sure there are many ) is this. I sit in a chair, scatter some seed all around me, then with a handful of seed, slowly lower my hand over them a few inches, letting a little fall to the ground through my fingers. Some pigeons will quickly move under my hand area. ( This works best when they are first good and hungry ) I continue lowering my hand slowly until I am actually touching the tops of their heads and backs. At first they are startled and pull away but quickly come back again, they are so focused on the food, they barely notice my hand right above them. Some pigeons will start to take it from my hand. These are the ones I work on to tame. Then I just have my hand a little higher each time to encourage those ones to hop up. It takes patience but the reward of it is immense when suddenly one hops up, even if for a moment. Keep at it and soon a bond will form and they will effortlessly come to your hand. Others may follow suit just watching those ones. They do watch. If you look at the other pigeons eyes when you have the tame one on you, they are wide-eyed and taking it all in. Probably fearful, wondering what the 'giant' is going to do. I was glad to see that you throw seed to the ones on the outer circle,. too. I feel for them. The young ones or new to the group, lower ranking. I am no expert on pigeons. Wish I was, but happily will share what I have learned. One funny thing I see is, one pigeon will stake a claim on your hand of seed and although it may not have eaten from your hand yet, it does this little strut back and forth trying to keep the others away from it. Another thing, once you have one hand tamed, don't put your face too close to it, you might get wing-slapped. It's quite sudden and packs a wallop. It only happened once to me, that's all it took. Happy birding!🐦

I've run into similar situations, when I used to feed all the birds at a local lake. It's incredibly difficult to catch a bird outdoors, and I always needed help from other lake folk. I've never caught a bird outside, but the people who helped me have. It's difficult enough to catch a bird indoors!
Try to be patient with them, and they'll warm up to you again. Try raw, unsalted peanuts. Peanuts are pigeon crack to them. Ha. 😂 Peanuts are what got me to hand tame many wild birds. If you can attract the injured pigeon to you with peanuts, try GENTLY catching the bird with the famous pigeon hold; it doesn't hurt them, and it generally keeps them still and calm.
    Good luck! Fly high!

Thank you for the advice and if he comes back around I will definitely try some peanuts. I've not seen him lately and he was not a regular street pigeon from my group. If he comes back I will try again but if not I hope he lives a good life after this ordeal.
