Pleasantly surprised by your review. I’m holding out for your new formentor review, as I have my eye on one for next year. Thanks, as always, and keep up the excellent content!
I wish this was available last year when I was looking to buy and SUV. I test drove the Formentor and loved it, but I needed something higher up. It's a beautiful looking thing, I'm probably going to get one as my next car in a couple of years though!
@@therightcar a Renault Austral (I'm in the UK, don't think they're available in Australia). It's lovely, but I'm not 100% sold on hybrid, no other engine options here though. We also have a Tiguan with the GTI engine and I love it, so will probably end up getting the same engine in the Terramar!
@@therightcar True but there will be at least 15k difference between the PHEV versions of each car. Let's see. I'll wait for your reviews to find out 😁. I always look forward to and enjoy your reviews 👍
The Cupra Terramar is based on the same platform as the VW Tiguan and the Audi Q3. It even comes off the same assembly line as the Audi Q3. The two are therefore the main competitors. However, competitors also include vehicles such as the Renault Arkana, Skoda Kodiaq, Nissan Quashqai, Kia Sportage and Volvo XC40 Greetings from Germany
@@therightcar amazing! I look forward to it. I seen the display in a supra shop the other day and looking at purchasing on release, but would highly value your opinion!
Another great review, looking forward to the Tiguan one. I'm particularly interested in the more subtle differences between them, given their relation. While VW has lost their physique and developed a glossy-black-plastic habit, Cupra IMO have overdone the 'Predator' look on the Terramar and facelifted-Formentor. You certainly can't acuse Cupra of being boring, but there's a fine line between interesting and pretentious. They're boosted 4-cylinder SUVs, a compromise of fun and practical, that's all. I also wonder how quickly the strong styling elements will look dated. Hopefully it holds up more like the Arnie original did than the sequel with Gary Busey. Cupra's dealer & service coverage is also thinner than Volvo's, so if you're outside the biggest population centers it's not currently a pragmatic ownership prospect. Even if you're lucky and nothing goes wrong with it. I hope you enjoyed my glass half-empty of Cupra-Aid :)
Hey matt, so you’re in Spain now lucky Man, are you enjoying the scenery😎 & some Spanish food😋. the brand is starting to grow on me. I see a lot at work even one of our customers let me test drive his one. It’s actually pretty good. Not a bad drive. The Terramar has a pretty good design. I don’t mind it. I like the interior & tech that comes with it. I’m looking at this and the new RAV4 that comes out next year. 🤔

It sure is a stunner!
What did you buy, if not a Formentor?

MG HS will also have a PHEV version next year. So it may be good alternative to this.
Could be, we'll have to see what it's priced at. Don't think it'll be quite as good to drive, though.

Very different cars and buyers
Not trying to be rude, but i doubt Cupra buyers would consider cross shopping with an MG.
I mentioned MG HS because Matt listed BYD Sealion 6 as one of the alternatives. But I agree with you as well.
Nice one Matt. Thank you. The right car? Perhaps. The right job? Perfect! 👍😎🇦🇺
Thanks!
FYI that is Chase from Paw Patrol in the console, not Marshall. Marshall is a Dalmatian.
Hahaha my daughter is more of a Frozen fan than Paw Patrol.
Though the dog next door is named Marshall and he sure as shit isn’t a Dalmatian.

Just because they share a platform doesn’t mean those are the “best alternatives”, though. And market differences dictate what I said.
Arkana? Bro, i think you meant Renault Austral, the mid-size SUV. Arkana is a weird hybrid of a cheap-looking coupé/sedan

Waiting for Volkswagen Australia to add the internet connection service to their products, and then I will consider placing an order.
It's coming, they say!
Are you going to do a tavascan review while your in spain? keen to know your thoughts on the drive
You bet. It’s coming Thursday 10th at 5pm!

What is the color of the presented model?
Believe it was Graphene Grey.
11:11 well actually this 200kW/400Nm PHEV will have FWD not AWD unfortunately.
I didn’t say it would have AWD.

Would you include Mazda CX60 PHEV as a competitor or is it just not good enough?
Mazda provides better interior quality, but a Japanese BMW still has something behind a real European car.
The PHEV version of the CX-60 was one of the most disappointing cars I've driven in 15 years of doing this job.
@@therightcar OMG?! Is it really that bad? I've heard that Mazda's PHEV system was developed by Toyota, which actually shares with the RAV4 Prime.
Cx60 overall gets poor reviews
No pockets behind seats. Setiously?
Yeah, it's not ideal for a family SUV.
Where are rear heated seats? Why don‘t have USB C for Dashcam for our security during travel ? But we have stupid illumitated logo. Really clever OMG
Haha - I’m sure there will be heated seats in the rear and maybe a USB port for dash cam. Not sure on the specifics.
@@therightcar Some years don´t have this equipment Ateca, Formentor or now Terramar 😰
Are those legs licenced ?😊
For a fee.
Very nice and good car one or posibly the best in similar cars.
does it have more leg room that leon or formentor width-wise?
Yep, it felt wider. We them all at the same time.
For Australia, wish that Tiguan came in hybrid, shame.
265 hp. without tailpipes? Come on cupra, thats the Golf GTI Clubsport Engine....put some nice exhaust pipes on it.
Feel like the accountants got hold of this one 😂
Not a fan of its front grill 😢
Still too low needs to be taller
Cupra, separate From Seat
Indeed.
seat racing, all VW and Audi parts anyway
