Thanks for helping me get my Hurricane-Katrina-era McCulloch chainsaw up and running after all the lines disintegrated. I was hesitant to split the case but your video was a tremendous help! Thank you!
Great video and precisely what I needed to know for the specific model of chainsaw that I have. The message at the end gave me a lot of courage and I think I may undertake this whole procedure on my saw, which needs it, wish me luck.
I can't believe I found this. I have this exact model chain saw and it would not run. After investigation I found that the fuel lines were bad, just like in the video. It has every detail I need to fix mine. Thanks for doing this. Now I just hope I can find the parts.
Thank you for sharing this. I am just a wanna be fixer guy....and I loved this chainsaw....it has been sitting for too many years and your video demonstrated how simple everything was....AND paying attention to details helped too. Looking for many more helpful hints from your site
Very helpful video, I found one chainsaw in the rubbish. Barely used but won't start. Fit a spark plug that was missing and make it run with fuel in the carb, but couldn't figure out the fuel lines. Now with this video will be very easy to put it back together
I just want to thank you for this video that has been so helpful to me. I just got one mcculock and am going to replace the gas lines. It will be now much easier to do. Thanks again.
I worked on one of these for my uncle just a few weeks ago. I was able to change the fuel lines without splitting it, but it wasn’t easy. This isn’t the first McCulloch like that that I’ve worked on though, I did split the case on the previous one, so I was seeing if there was an easier way lol
I have a chainsaw that needs the fuel lines replaced. This is a good refresher since I haven't worked on one in a few years. Looking forward to the video on the carburetor.
Just got a free "brand new" still in the box, never used Mac 3216. This video is so helpful because, of course, the bulb and fuel lines had dried and cracked.
Did this exact repair on a MacCat saw I got from a yard sale that is almost identical. I wish this video had been available then as it would have made the job much easier. I had the additional problem of the cork gasket for the oiler cap rotting and spilling debris into the bar oil which was the pulled into the oiler by a broken line that separated from the filter. Took quite a bit more disassembly to clean out all the oil journals. Wonderful saw tho, I’ve used it to clean up after 2 hurricanes and a tornado and it cuts like a beast despite being 20+ yrs old.
Not bad! You got most of it right. I work on chainsaws almost every day, And yes! I do have a pile of these and mini mac saws.First off, if you don't have 90 PSI for your minimum numbers for your compression check you won't get a 2-stroke to idle when warmed up! Second thing, It's not the ethanol that destroys the fuel lines and diaphragm, But the Benzene in pump fuel does a job on rubber Ethanol will crode aluminum and also is the culprit for all the water in your fuel system! It has an extra molecule of water that makes alcohol and draws moisture to it. I would disagree that the ring was worn due to lack of oil! If there is ever a lack of oil It's because there was none mixed in with gas and always bakes the piston! Men have a tendency to put just a little more than the recommended amount because he is worried about seizing the piston! Unaware that is usually the reason the piston is all scraped up at exaust port. And a majority of the over heating problems when you got a puddle of it in the exaust pipe! 50/1 2.6 once in a gallon of premium fuel or better! I use VP small engine fuel already pre mixed. Regular gasoline is garbage these days! And the hotter it gets the worse it pre detonates and will destroy a 2-stroke engine. Here is what I see most often that stops a chainsaw from running. You have to keep the chain sharp on a chainsaw! Otherwise it makes a powder enstead of chips or if you're really good at sharpening you make shavings! It sucks it into the holes in the flywheel side and mixed with the thick bar oil sold to you, It makes a goohy mess and slings it across the face of the coil and that's the end of your sparky,Sparky!😉
I made reply on older vid for parts on this Mac. Where are you getting carb or diaphragms now. Two years ago I found parts having trouble now. Thanks for any direction.
I would say that you need to get in contact with Leon from Leons chainsaw parts and repair! Located in Southern Oregon State. He is a homelite chainsaw guru! And he has a business repairing and he also sells parts for several different brands,And one of those brands is McCulloch! Great guy and I personally think he is the best videos on TH-cam for the proper procedures for repairing chainsaws!😉
Mine has no spark for some reason, worked fine last year no one touched it. Has the cheap plug from the kit that came with the fuel lines. Could it have gone bad that fast?
I am retired and started up a small engine service and found that one of my best tools is my cell phone. I take pictures of fuel lines, carb. linkage, etc. It saves alot of fustration especially if your old like myself and your memory isn't that great. P.S. I really enjoy watching your videos they are a great help and you have some good tips/advice.

looking for carb diaphramns for a McCilloch SE2000. Carb looks identicle to this mac3200 but I am not certain if they are the same. I can't find any ebay or amazon dealers that list the se2000
yeah, i'd definitely have fixed an old Mac chainsaw for sure. but, MY GOODNESS that looks like it was SO tedious to do!! lol I have huge hands, and fat fingers, and i'd have definitely had trouble fishing the fuel line up to the tank. Great video man, i love your content, thank you!
Great instructions but I have one correction. The short port on the primer goes to the tank and the longer one goes to the left side of the carb. I did it the way you mention and the primer does not fill up with gas. I swapped the lines and now it does. If you look closely above the short port it says "IN".
no, every purge bulb I've seen, with two different lengths of ports, the long one goes to the tank. if you take the purge out, put two lines on to it, and then put the lines in a jar with gasoline this will confirm this.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I did this test before I posted. First with the hose from the long port in a jar with gas and the primer did not fill. I then switched and put the hose from the short port in the jar and it primed. I did this with both the original primer from the saw that later cracked and with the new one I got from Amazon. If you put both lines in the jar with gas of course that will work because its drawing the gas from one of the ports :)
Ok I took out the plug, left it connected and check for spark, got nothing...that explains why it won't start. It was a cheap plug that came in a kit. Tried an old AC Delco plug for a car and no spark on that either but it has a large gap...so no idea if the plug is bad or not. It was a cheap plug that came in the kit with the fuel lines.

So I did end up doing this myself, it wasn't as bad as I thought. However, I did not split the case to get the fuel lines into the tank. Instead I fed line up a stiff thin metal rod (in my case it was a thin braising rod, but a coat hanger would do) and it fed the line straight into the tank. I have McCulloch 3816 saw I purchased new 20 some years ago. My fuel lines are all cracked and disintegrated. The question is no one knows is the top or bottom hole in the fuel tank for the fuel filter? My lines were all broken off so I could not tell. I called the company now who owns McCulloch and they had no idea. I noticed in your video you put the fuel filter in the top hole. Do you know for sure it was originally like this? I want to keep it like it was from the factory. Thanks. Dan

A friend of mine gave me a Mcculluck 14”bc he couldn’t figure out why it leaked oil, I took it apart and found that the threads on oil tank had split, where can I find another oil tank. 3200 Mc TIA
Those are junk! It may start but that'll likely be the best news you'll get. The oil pump is usually the 1st thing that breaks. It's twixt the flywheel & the crankcase. How many of these do you want?
We have Gas Fuel Line Kit that may fit your equipment. We're happy to offer you the product completely free of charge in exchange for a video review. Do you need?
Fun small saw. We have two taiwanese copies of this saw both 38cc. Both have oiler issues. One excessive oiling and now no oil anymore and the other one no oil. So I need to take them apart both to check the oil pump and line. Carburetor type is Walbro WT439. One saw has probably issue with the carburetor (checkvalve or metering diaphragm issue -- flooding ). If idle speed somewhat low it falls on its face when releasing throttle from full speed
Those have very fragile oil pumps, it's twixt the flywheel & crankcase. They're low on power & do fairly well with a 14" bar, better with a 12". Have 3 of these given to me & I won't do anything with 'em except use for parts. They're a Chinese POS!

A friend of mine gave me a Mcculluck 14”bc he couldn’t figure out why it leaked oil, I took it apart and found that the threads on oil tank had split, where can I find another oil tank.
3200 Mc
TIA
unfortunately that's happened to me too, and you cannot find them, they no longer make any parts for them.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I was afraid you were going to tell me that, ok well I’ll see what I can do,
Thanks for you’re reply.👍🏽😉
no problem
I was able to locate a used oil tank on eBay..👍🏽
Fits perfectly fine .
Old mccoulghs are great
they are definitely unique
I run my echo cs 300 evl without a muffler
wow, isn't a bit loud without a muffler?
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE you get used to it and cuts way faster
It didn’t even run and it still ran better than mine lol
lol,, thanks The lawn channel, the next part will show it running and cutting.
I would try it
thank you Lorraine Rhoades.
same
thank you Karyn Clements
Good job brother the only problem is you need small hands to do this repair.. I would of lost my rag with it without the first 10 mins lol
absolutely, you're quite the man Mick. You make all your equipment look like kids toys, especially that Hyundai mower from the other day.
Love these old mac saws I have a super old one I need to repair that be fun #repairgang
good luck with it Simply Andrew's Repairs
If it ain’t broke, I don’t own it! I would fix it!
i have just been given one of thies 🤣how random thanks for vid
No problem 👍
Those are junk! It may start but that'll likely be the best news you'll get. The oil pump is usually the 1st thing that breaks. It's twixt the flywheel & the crankcase. How many of these do you want?
I don't want anymore of these. Thanks.
I would still make sure that oil cap does not leak.
yes I'll have to watch for it.
We have Gas Fuel Line Kit that may fit your equipment. We're happy to offer you the product completely free of charge in exchange for a video review. Do you need?
no
Fun small saw.
Yes I believe your assessment is correct.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE need to check the fuel inlet of the carb by pressuring it to check for any leaks such as the needle
yes that is something I need to do.
Wow that saw was a mess!
I know right!
I think I see why they discontinued this saw...
it seems pretty apparent
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I've worked on three of them in the past 3 or 4 years and they can be a pain...
I completely understand
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I have one in my garage right now, has good compression, spark, but I can't get it to hit even when I prime it...
gotcha, have done a compression test on it? I'd like to get a reading on the engine if you don't mind.
I would do the work myself. That’s how you learn to do things yourself.
very well said
Those have very fragile oil pumps, it's twixt the flywheel & crankcase. They're low on power & do fairly well with a 14" bar, better with a 12". Have 3 of these given to me & I won't do anything with 'em except use for parts. They're a Chinese POS!
I have no doubt you're right, Hopefully I'll get this one working and be able to use it for emergencies and that's it.
house garage should be short videos and inside house garage should be the longer repairs
that's an interesting idea.
Chainsaws are a pain
yes they are
yes they are
I apologize Wrong video
oh.
