It is contemporary...it's New Retro AOR/Synthwave. Some of the biggest radio hits, over the last few years, have been using sounds and productions incredibly reminiscent of The 1980s (Daft Punk ("Doin' It Right", "Instant Crush"), Taylor Swift ("Style", "Delicate"), Sam Smith ("Dancing With A Stranger"), Shawn Mendes ("Senorita"), The Jonas Brothers ("Sucker"), for examples)...this particular song just presents itself as the future sound many of Us in the '80s heard..in the actual future. No one who was present in The '80s is surprised to hear this sound in 2020...We figured that sound was going to stay part of the musical tapestry of contemporary music...this just proves that it did. I just hope it actually gets radio play, so it can stand next to the songs I listed above. BTW, is it too late to add this song to the Top Gun II soundtrack, later this Summer? ;) Good thoughts, Neil Patrick.
