What a voice! It's almost impossible to state who is the best Dalila of all time because each artist brings something special to the role, but Borodina is definitely among the best. I love this rendition.
I am in bliss. I am in heaven. Such beauty. Even more than the next aria of Delila's which seems to be the most famous in the opera. This aria of hers as she is by herself is horribly underrated.
Actually Verrett is inferior to Borodina in this role, mostly because she never managed to join the lower and middle parts of her voices, and she regularly uses strange and audible transitions from one to the other. Having sung taxing soprano and mezzo roles throughout her career might be the reason of her disjointed middle, because the balance of the transition shifts when you change fach. She is a great Delilah and I enjoy listening to her in this role, but Borodina is absolutely the golden standard in this.
Borodina has a gorgeous voice, but her technique is tipically russian. It means that basically her sings (beautifully) to herself, but the voice does not have any projection. The orchestra covers her voice all the time, only the high SIb reaches the place that all the singing should have in space.
That might be the case, I have never heard her live. I am only judging from what I have heard online. But I doubt the 'russian technique' encompasses "basically singing beautifully to myself as the orchestra covers me". There have been a multitude of Russian singers in recent times, both mezzos and sopranos who have no trouble with the French or Italian repertoire, despite their training or technique.
Very beautiful voice colour, but NO style ! That's typical Russian technique, from the end of the 19th century. She sounds like Amneris singing in Gibberish. No feeling for the French language or words.

Agreed
th-cam.com/video/zsdzIjRA58g/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1 For me Elena Obrazcova, Attractive, soft, and seductively feminine.
For me it is Obratzova
@@pureffm Obratzova is one of my favorite singers. She was also a very beautiful woman.
Such capricious colour enveloped into that beautifully dark timbre. One of the greatest Dalilas ever.
Perfect!
I agree with you.
Meravigliosa e bellissimo tono alto!
😊🎉
Never heard of Olga but what a Voice!!

Bravissima!
splendide unique unrivalled sublime MERCI MARIA
Una magnifica Dalila!!
Wonderful pearl of sound, an appreciative sound. I wonder how it pours out in a theatre? ☺️ sound here
Borodina es la mejor Dalila
La "grande" Maria Callas👏👏👏🌺🌺🌹💮⚘⚘⚘
It is a truly wonderful performance. Shame the final few bars have been 'snipped'.
Her looks remind me of a young Irina Arkhipova, but Borodina's voice is more beautiful.
LOL :D
😁
🤣 every time I hear this aria I think the same
Exactement. Poisson.
Bizarre.
Amour viens aider ma fablaisse saint sense Anna net record
mezzosopran

I think it is obligated with vocal pronunciation.
lughshe ghem Obraszova no opjati ghe grubie nisi. dalila eto ne Bariton a krasivaja molodja ghenshina
Troppo lento! Perde d'incività e di pathos. Poco mi convince anche scenicamente.Mirka Bonomi

This is absolutely true. But generally those are singers who includes belcanto technique, harmonizing with their own. Like Netrebko .
