I have to say that 4 minute speech by Jonathan made more sense than one hour of the pointless bickering between the two main Party leaders last night. Factually correct in all its details, there really is no money left. The likes of the dodgy PPE suppliers, the expensive Track & Trace system during Covid, the likes of Sunak making money out of taxpayers' losses, the Liz Truss 49 day disaster, her Chancellor who was effectively fined by HMRC for not paying enough tax, the list is almost endless. But the last comment, the simple fact there really is no money left now, is the truest fact of all. God Help whoever has to sort out this dreadful mess An excellent post by Mr Pie, I hope to hear more of the same over the next few weeks.

The truth is Labour did far more privatisation than the tories did through their PPP and PFI contracts. Everything from hospitals to car parks, schools to prisons and libraries were privatised under Labour.
Well not exactly privatised, see the government sold the land and buildings, outsourced the cleaning and maintenance, outsourced our IT systems, HR systems, sold everything right down to the staff canteen. But kept the front of house staff, kept the management structures. So now we are stuck paying increasing rental obligations for buildings that are falling to pieces due to 0 maintenance investment and paying services contracts worth billions to companies like Mitie to send a minimum wage foreign worker round each night with a bucket and mop, having received no training for working in the specific environment in which they routinely work.
It was Labour that sold off our public sector, it's been the tories that have increased public spending and increased the size of government. Now we face an election with Labour promising austerity and the Tories promising more spending. This whole government is a joke. We are not a serious country anymore, we are a glorified retirement village.
