Its interior is gothic, but the outside structure took advantage of the new project laid out in the XV hundreds, and it is unique for the stunning Brunelleschi’s dome, the biggest of its kind before Saint Peter’s in Rome.
AMIENS is biggest french cathedral in France, certainly more than Paris and Chartres...Added to your choice of Florence,i don t really think you know your subject!
Florence Cathedral is now in Vienna. But, stop and think, Why would this even be considered Gothic? Images also have little to do with the constructions that would be identified as Gothic.
I've often thought this. There's quite a few cathedrals in Italy labelled "Gothic" but they don't look like the Gothic you see in France/Germany/England etc. The only truly "Gothic" cathedral in Italy is Milan. They should have their own category.
@@EASYTIGER10 It's called Renaissance Gothic. The exteriors don't look much like Gothic with all of the bright colors and designs, but many of Florence's Cathedrals and Basilicas are very much Gothic in the interior
Better examples of Italian gothic are probably the Duomos of Siena and Orvieto and the flowered Venetian gothic of the Palazzo Ducale and Ca’ d’Oro beside Milan’s cathedral. In Italy Gothic developed its own way like it VERY much did in England, Germany, Spain and beyond but that’s the beauty of art..
So much misinformation here. I studied Architecture History (one semester strictly on Gothic churches) at the University of Notre Dame. Only a few of these churches would be actually considered Gothic. A number of them would be more properly called Neo-Gothic. Chartres is mostly Gothic but one can see in its front towers that one is authentically Gothic. The other not. Some notable examples were left out: Sainte Chapelle in Paris and Saint Denis, just north of Paris. It initiated the Gothic revolution. Abbot Sugar renovated the church in the 1100s, laying the foundation for the great Gothic cathedrals of France. Examples: Chartres and Reims.
And Germany. Buildings like Cologne cathedral, Ulm Minster, Church of our lady in Dresden, Regensburg cathedral, Aachen cathedral (my favorite cathedral), Trier cathedral, Magdeburg cathedral, ...
Florence cathedral "location: Vienna Austria" sensational
😂
2:40 - It's not in Vienna, Austria. It's in Florence, Italy. And I think is not a gothic church
It’s a mix of gothic and Romanesque, if you google a picture of it’s façade it’s super gothic
Its interior is gothic, but the outside structure took advantage of the new project laid out in the XV hundreds, and it is unique for the stunning Brunelleschi’s dome, the biggest of its kind before Saint Peter’s in Rome.

Much of Colongne cathedral wasn't build during the middle ages, but during the 19th century
St. Vitus in Prague should have been on here.
I think St. Barbora's in Kutná Hora is better, st. Vitus is big but it looks similar to other gothic cathedrals in Europe, St. Barbora is unique
