I had crummy nails for YEARS. I tried taking biotin, but it never helped. I was at my wit's end....then I happened upon a YT video that claimed soaking your nails every day in olive oil would work wonders.
Yeah, right! And who has time to soak for 15-30 min every day?
So I compromised and oiled my nails every time I got near oil.
    Olive oil while making dinner,
Avocado oil while removing makeup, Coconut oil while making bullet proof coffee, Almond oil when I moisturized my hands at bedtime, etc.
Wow, it didn't take long before my nails stopped tearing and splitting. My thumbnails are still a work in progress, but overall, I am thrilled. 👐🏻

      @@ellehub2136
I'm not sure which time frame you're referring to.
The length of time my nails were a mess?....decades
The length of time the video said to soak in oil?... 15 to 30 min
The length of time before my nails began to show improvement?....a week or less.
This probably won't solve the problem for everyone, because our nail problems don't all have the same cause.
In my case, I wash my hands a lot and I think they were dried out from that, so the oil protects from the drying effects of washing.

What you need is an overall Balanced diet.
You should try green smoothies for vitamins , and eating healthy meats for minerals for example Oysters and Liver are the most nutrients dense meats on the planet.
Smoothies are packed packed with fiber and plenty of vitamins which will feed your Micro biome which is essential to energy levels and mental health.
      My smoothies consist of
1 bunch Kale - 13 essential amino acids
      1 bunch beet roots - B Vitamins
      1 bunch Celery
      1 WHOLE LEMON including peel
      1 ginger root
Organic Oj from Sprouts with 1 billion Pro-biotics included
1 Garlic clover (if I can handle the taste that day lol)
      Sometimes Parsley, chards , spinach
And lastly 1 table spoon of Extra Virgin Olive oil since most vitamins are Fat Soluable.
It's really hard to stomach when warm so I always freeze my leftover smoothie to add to the next which helps very much with consistency without adding sugar filled frozen fruit to the mix.
This is what works for me you can always switch things in and out for your body, I would recommend trying it for at least a week but you will notice differences from the first smoothie.
Dr.berg has videos on most of these ingredients so that will help ! Good luck and stay healthy it's worth it 👌

Thanks for the video, Dr. Berg! I appreciate all you do for us. I'm hypothyroid and have a deep horizontal ridge in the center of my two big toenails. I don't take iron supplements, but do eat beef liver once a week. Apparently, that's not enough. I'll add some lactoferrin, then iron if no change. Worst of all, my fingernails separate from the nail beds when my nails suddenly become paper-thin, even though I take NDT. They thin after a sweat busting activity (Not from the gym or exercise, just living, walking across a parking lot, walking upstairs, etc.) and after I take Magnesium (any brand or type of supplement including Pellegrino). When my nails separate from the nail beds, my fingers tips turn red and sore. They're so sore, I can't use my hands. The pain lasts for a couple of days, but the nail takes weeks, sometimes months or even years to connect to the bed. Have you ever heard or seen anything like this?

You should also include; when nails are hyper curved, or "humped" - that usually indicates a respiratory issue, specifically in the lungs. This health indicator will always begin with the toes and move into the hands as the respiratory system deteriorates further.

I had lonula (half moon) in 4 fingers for a very long time. Recently I started taking Moringa leaf pounder half tea spoon daily in morning for a week. Lonula has disappeared from fingers only slightly visible on a thumb. Is it a sign of bad health? My sugar and BP is normal. I was on keto diet for 4 months earlier and lost 18 kg weight. Now I am on one meal a day and feel quite healthy walking 15000 steps daily.

Thank you so much Dr. Berg for sharing this information. I have several disorders including Hashimoto's, Mastocytosis - Uticaria Pigmentosa, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - Hypermobile Type, POTS and am only 50. I became disabled in 2015 and have been deteriorating since. Absorption is a big issue and my nails in the last few months that have always been so nice now have big vertical ridges, with smaller ones. I have had anemia all my life but I guess now that it has progressed so much so that my nails are showing this. I have also a fatty liver. I am so grateful for your very clear and concise breakdown of what's literally breaking down in our systems and what we can do!

I remember when I was a young girl every time I went to see the doctor he’d hold that light up to my eyes while he studied them. He’d study my nails. Listen to my heart and look into my ears upon arriving at the office. I even asked a doctor what was going on my with nails and he told me. Old age. I have nail ridges but I also have hyperthyroidism. My nails are extremely thin, very flexible & flake. My toe nails are totally opposite.

None of my Drs EVER have looked at my nails. Even as a preteen or teenager I don’t recall them doing it. I’ve had my own dr since I was 18 and all they go by is lab results even though I am consistently on the low end of vit D & all the B vitamins & iron. No dr has ever asked me why they’re on the low end. Have never questioned me about my diet, nothing. I use to call and question it but always get told the same thing. “You’re good. Don’t worry about it”. About a year ago I started taking an ‘over 50 woman’s multi vit’. Most of the ridges are gone now except a really deep one on 1 thumb. My labs this year were still on the low end. Am anxious to see what they are next year.

That was.very.timely Dr. Berg. I was just this hour looking up this topic. I noticed my nail tips were getting very bright white for some reason. It must not be a problem otherwise you would have mentioned it.
I did learn that I need to eat more vegetables because my nails have always been very brittle.
Additionally, my nails never seem to get very strong or long. I can fold and bend them very easily, all except my thumb nail.

I can’t do anything naturally to remove the bunions on my feet, to straighten out my crooked fingers, but the meds, vigorous water aerobics, weight exercises and working towards eating healthy, and my Faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I am doing very well.
