EDG beat SEN, LEV and Heretics, 3 of the top 4 teams this year in order to win it all. Thoroughly deserved and what a run for them.
Somehow, it was very close against Leviatan. Abyss was a _close_ game until they choked the lead.
yeah and doing so in style too, breaking shit loads of records. Not to take anything away from TH, it took them that much to win over Th, anything less and they'd have been 2nd. Best BO5 match so far for me in Valorant competitive scene.
@@samsan4644 fr and I've been watching since Istanbul, and I gotta say this was the best BO5 there ever was. So many iconic moments, throws, blowouts, aces, clutches, millisecond defuses, 1 v x, hero rounds, map 5, losing to time, molly blocks. Like its got it all.

@@whyrudes He worded it wrong. It was more like Koreans refunding all their tickets and allowing the Chinese to be able to travel internationally to make up 40% of the arena. I mean, it is annoying that they get to refund just like that when other people might have wanted to go but then rescheduled, but it is better than the Koreans not refunding and then not showing up so the stadium was 20% full like Weibo vs NRG Quarterfinals 2023 Worlds.

It’s a small thing but I’d like to point out something the Top 3 have in common, Heretics, Lev, and EDG all have a duelist that plays the 3 duelists(raze Jett neon). The ability to play any comp on any map open their pool so much it can’t be overstated how important it is compared to teams that don’t have a duelist capable of being top dog on each of the 3

Good highlights, but an oversimplification of this series (unsurprising, considering it was a 5-hour series). For example, you say that if Nobody pistol round on Abyss didn't happen, they probably don't win the game. I saw a palpable release of pressure from the EDG side when they won the bonus and hit 11. At 11-4, they felt safe and were not at the same must-win mindset. If they had lost the pistol, they would have been mentally much more focused on each following round, and we likely would not have seen the same kind of 5-round streak out of TH.
In the same way that, after completely dominating Sunset attack and the pistol on defense, EDG dropped 3 straight rounds before closing it out (again, on an Eco).
On the whole, I agree that maps 3-4 were so strategically close, it came down to execution and individual moments that defined each map, but I thought that EDG was much more comfortable on Abyss than TH. Their control over mid was much better than TH, and site control was cleaner on average.
Also, good call-out on Haven. It felt like it was just not in EDG's map pool, especially compared with the other 4 maps (or even Icebox).
That KangKang Guardian 4k was just soo good! Definitely one of the top winning moments in the history of Valorant. Shooting down a Jett midair too!
I didn't know much about S1mon, but where did EDG find such an amazing talent? Since he joined, EDG has really improved in terms of team play and macro.
He was on JDG last year as a sub, this year he went to challengers, EDG lost to Wolves in stage 2, and then just picked him up as an initiator to play meta

Want to also I def feel EDG is one of the few teams to know what value they want to get out of Clove and it is refreshing to see a team be willingly experimental and so good with it.

my dad knows absolutely nothing about valorant but he was interested when I was watching grand finals and we only caught the last map together but on the second pistol on abyss he was yelling "why are they all just going together it makes them so easy to shoot) and I had to try explaining to him that it was a combination of nobody just popping off and th having really bad spacing lol and then again in the second to last round when kk got a 4k with the guardian, it was interesting to say the least

I think you missed the fact that EDG was just monstrous on their pistols. Also I think you spent WAY to long talking about the 4 tragic rounds on Haven. Like we get it, they were not working on the first half of Haven. Also I think the Sunset map overall was way more lopsided than Haven. But sorry that Heretics lost. GG go next.
