    i've been writing [fanfiction mostly] since 2013 and only recently did i realize that i can't plot. at all. i'm stuck with short romance-centered stories.
    i really like the way you present your advice because i find watching long videos boring and frequently abandon them midway, and yours are somewhat engaging. thank you! my knowledge is now a little bit more structured. can't wait to put it to life.

    I agree with you on learning a lot about story structures before pantsing. I think I've learned a lot about story structures and most of the time when I'm brainstorming and the plot starts working itself out, I realize that it just naturally follows a good plot structure. Thank you for this video! I look forward to every Friday when a video is uploaded :) I'm glad you started a TH-cam channel.

    I felt a bit awkward about changing my plot so much so it is a relief to hear that's actually normal 😅 . Thanks for the useful content.

    thank u for the easy story structure! 🤧 but I feel like I'll just answer these story beats during my 1st draft cuz for me, Ive realized that ideas for midpoint, first plot point, etc. come naturally when I just write & I wonder if my way is okay.
    & from u, I just learnt that 3rd person detached exists 😀 cuz im more showing than telling.

      hahahah glad to hear this! and yes of course your way is okay, everyone has their own way of approaching writing - there's no right or wrong there

    A question from a fellow pantser: i have like some of my novel figured out and a few other characters but now I have absolutely no idea how to start with it... So, any tips? 😅

      With your inciting incident! What's the story about, why are you telling it, who's the lead character and why, what are they going to learn throughout the story, and what's the first thing that happens that pushes them into this pivotal moment in their life? Those are all questions you should know the answer to in order to find your beginning.

    My “midpoint/plot twist” is about 30% of the way into the story… is that unreasonable?

    • @theplottery
      @theplottery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that sounds like it is your first plot/pinch point. the midpoint really should be halfway or early second half of the novel! it's when the stakes go as high as they'll ever be.

      @@theplottery Thanknyou for this. As it turns out anyway, the second half of my manuscript drags a bit while the first half is rushed. I think once I tighten up the send half and flesh out the first half, it will move this scene closer to the middle.
