Ghostbusters needs to be a 30 min TV show like IT Crowd or What We Do In The Shadows. Forget the original cast. Forget New York. Go to a random small city and follow a schlubby crew at a Ghostbusters franchise, who treat their jobs like they are basic exterminators. Make it about a group of losers just trying to pay the bills, and dealing with annoying customers and ghosts.

I'm glad that Cyborg is going to be a member of the Teen Titans again (supposedly). Hopefully that change transfers over to the comics as well. He just does not work as a member of a Justice League, besides being the member who gets absolutely mutilated by the villain to establish how dangerous they are. You can just rebuild him after all.
Fede Alvarez's said he's taking inspiration from the first three Alien films, and that the Prometheus was like a rich yacht so, not throwing anything out. Noah Hawley who's doing the series, has again mentioned first three films, but not including the prequels in his mythology so far as it pertains to the creation of the Alien itself.

45:50 No. I’m not happy with the slop they’re dishing out. The worst part is that they brought back Walter Peck, but then did nothing with him. Wasted opportunity.
Can someone explain to me why, at the climax of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Bill Murray put on sunglasses _whilst_ indoors _whilst_ the sky is practically black with clouds, _whilst_ they're waiting for a demon ice god, only to take them off seconds later? Is it because he's Bill Murray, or perhaps because he's an alcoholic?

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire is the Oppenheimer of the Ghostbusters movies as far as cast size is concerned lol. The Real Ghostbusters episode with the werewolves and the vampires in the deserted town is still one of the best episodes of the series, but also of television.
Producer Jason Reitman and director Gil Kenan apparently clashed over the entire concept of this sequel. Kenan lobbied for the main antagonist to be the actual Devil, with the climactic duel being fought while red hellfire spews into the New York streets. But taking a cue from Dante’s Inferno, Reitman pitched that the demon villain would actually bring forth cascades of ice, culminating in a battle around a sapphire beam of light so immense that the producer dubbed the CGI effect as a veritable “blue harvest”, which also happens to be the working title of Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope.
Oh thank God for something light, I've been listening to fascinating horror channel about disasters and accidents and such. Be careful out there folks, you never know. I have to say - the point and "outrage" over Late Night With The Devil makes no sense. Indy film. No money. Would it be better if they said "Any artists want to work for free? Do us free work whilst we get paid for a film." Support independent film. Would it be bad for a micro-budget or low budget to use ai to do a sky replacement or add a castle on a hill?
The Ghostbusters need to fight, like, competent Slimers. Ghosts that are kinda smart and mean, but not harbingers of demonic incursions. There should be comedic back and forth between the Ghostbusters and the ghosts! Make it like Mouse Trap or something.
I don't necessarily disagree, but saying that Ghostbusters is running out the same heroes fighting the same villains is ignoring a Luke Skywalker shaped hero waving a light saber and a Palpatine shaped villan shooting lightning through out all the saga of Starwars inspite of a significantly larger output of content since their creations 😂
I think Aaron would make a good Bond, possibly Nolan directing would be an interesting combo and Nolan makes no secret of his ambition to direct an 007 film.
57:10 Why would they mix it up? Playing it safe and pandering to nostalgia is what has earned them the revenue they've made thus far. They won't want to jeopardise that.
Looking forward to AI going the way of 3D. Big explosion where it's used everywhere before companies realizes it's not a shortcut to billions and move on. That said, I am a big fan of AI being used to Upscale old TV series. Especially ones denied proper DVD/Digital releases.
More AI extras are gonna result in less parts for new talent that never get noticed which means more Hollywood nepo babies will get a stranglehold on the industry in the future.
As long as studios are using AI as a way to avoid paying creatives for their work, I think audiences should find ways to avoid paying to watch the movies. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I agree with James the only good ghostbusters movie was the original. Ghostbusters 2 feels like turtles 2, I enjoyed it as a kid but watching it now you realize it is garbage I never want to see again.
I think the problem with Ghostbusters and that seems to come out in James' problem with the whole thing is distilled in that one tweet that said the first movie is an extended SNL bit and people have latched onto it making it more than that. Like imagine trying to make all the SNL movies into franchises.
Sony keeps making the same mistake with their franchises. Every. Single. Time. It's unreal how little they learn. They keep cramming way too many characters and plots into a single movie. And the really insane thing about this is, they are at the same time trying to build a continuing franchise. Like, you can save SOME of your characters and ideas for the sequel. You know that, right? You want to make 5 movies? Then spread this out over 5 well paced movies. Don't ruin each one by making it like its your only chance to make a movie. They did no less than 3 different times on Spiderman alone. Seriously, they ruined Spiderman 3 like this (the Venom subplot). They ruined the Amazing Spiderman (spy parent subplot and the Rhino). And it looks to me like they're ruining the Spiderverse with this. There's just way too much going on in one film. And of course the latest GB movie has about a dozen too many characters. FFS, sony. Get a clue.
I just don't see how something like sora ai could replace actual filming even if it didn't look uncanny. If you want to do an interesting shot or even just have a particular framing for a scene, it won't be able to do that in the specific way you want it. Maybe if you want to use it to generate random drone establishing shots it could work, but again the time spent generating shots and editing it to look better or consistent has to be weighed against just flying a drone camera and getting the shot immediately.
@@Ineedgames Yeah, I agree with you on the GB movies. The movie def has it's problems. I'd argue that L&T wasn't tonally new, but more of what we'd seen in Ragnarok dialed up to 11. Well, they half-assed then sidelined a Black female Bond in the last film just so that when people overlooked her, they could come back and say "Oh look, it doesn't work" and then fall back into the old status quo. I think it's hilarious that the entire Craig era of Bond was based on the idea that the character as he currently stood was archaic and needed to move forward into the present. It also established that the 007 identifier was just a rank and title along with the name that's passed from agent to agent as they get their status. So basically anyone who's an MI6 agent with two confirmed kills could be on the short list as the next 00. Yet apparently, in this universe, there's no such thing as an Afro-Brit (save for the ONE they kind of sort of had in No Time to Die) and there's not a single other Black person who serves as an MI6 agent who could become a 00. We're good enough to be a sexy Moneypenny, but not good enough to be a Bond. Because God knows they refuse to put anyone in the role who's not of European descent. I suppose that a Bond of a different race or sex is a step too far into the present that they were thematically pushing for. Idris Elba had his name in the hat years ago and would have been a great introduction to a Black version of Bond, but, from what I understand, person who held the rights at the time made a public statement that in their eyes Bond will always be a white male. Which is not only closed-minded, but it's closing the door on a plethora of Black British actors who could do amazing things in the role if they would just give them the opportunity. I guess Bond just isn't a franchise for Black action lovers since it's so staunchly refuses to accept us in it's 40 plus year long pantheon. Good luck to Aaron Taylor Johnson I guess.
Fully support all of this. The first thing I thought when I saw Aaron Taylor Johnson floated for the role was '...really?' I really thought this time they might change the extremely tired status quo, especially as (as you pointed out) they've been seemingly paving the way for it in their own franchise for literally years. This feels like a bizarre step backwards, and a massive disappointment. Nothing against ATJ himself- I'm sure he's a fine lad- but his casting (if confirmed) is a letdown beyond his acting ability.

I really thought this time they might change the extremely tired status quo, especially as (as you pointed out) they've been seemingly paving the way for it in their own franchise for literally years. This feels like a bizarre step backwards, and a massive disappointment. Nothing against ATJ himself- I'm sure he's a fine lad- but his casting (if confirmed) is a letdown beyond his acting ability.
Since Ike Pearlmutter left Marvel has gone to shit, so he was doing something right.
Where is little James?
I believe he's off to a meeting with Danny DeVito and Kevin Hart
