Just ordered two and ordering two more for a 3.5 cubic foot enclosure for a 23 ram 1500. Using 3,500 watts. Should be interesting after having had 2 x 12 inch Fi subs in a 5.5 cubic foot box. 80’s SoFl bass head and like old bass.

Nice, you got an underseat enclosure? 3.5cu is good bit. I was told in my 20 ram 1500 I could only get 2.9cu internal. I was wanting to do 4-dd2508s but these gatleys look promising 💯🔊💨💨

The 4 8's will not outdo the 2 12's with the same total power. Equal power, the 12's should always play lower and louder simply based on more cone area for the 12's even if it's just a bit. The actual cone area for this 8 appears to be maybe 6" diameter, . 3x3x3.1415=28.27 and 4 would be 113.08. Figure 10" cone for the 12" sub. 5x5x3.1415=78.54 and for 2 would be 157.08. A clear advantage for the 2 12's.
Maybe I am misunderstanding that you had these 2 12's in the truck? Maybe you are switching to an underseat box? I clearly don't know the full deal here, but just don't expect the 8's to outdo the 12's using the same power.

@MotoAtheist 4 DD2508s would be close to the cone area of 2 12s. The 2508s would be 153.86 cone area. Yea that's what I was wondering what kind of box it was with 3.5cu in a truck a foxbox? Must be going to a underseat ported enclosure I'm guessing

@@johnnypiper1717 It is a box from Fox acoustics. They put it on the site when I called them asking about their 10 and 12" boxes. I settled on their 4 X 8" one that is under the seat and has AIR VOLUME: 3.7 CUBIC FEET/ ported per their website. Looks like the perfect air for these Gatelys. I'm getting it all put in next week. Should be interesting!

How so? The RMS handling is 900 and costs $400. The DD 2508F is 800rms and costs $459, the Sundown 800rms X8 is normally around $400 also, but can be found for $329 right now. $400 is not out of line. The Gately can likely handle 1,200 all day long, similar to the other brands as well.
