To answer some of your questions
1. Yeah Ultraman is aimed at kids most franchises in this genre (tokusatsu) are made to sell toys. They make an older audience entry every now and then like these shin movies.
2. Ultraman are (mostly) an alien race that Ethier fuse with a human to form a symbiotic relationship or disguise themselves as a human.
3. Pretty much everything in ultraman is canon there are shows that are direct sequels to one another and take place within the same earth but most shows take place in an alternate universe where it's a different earth but it's all connected with universe traveling.

@@superpowerddt the only ultraman tried to appeal for adult is ultraman nexus which still one of the best ultraman series (even the intro is sick). sadly it didn't get the attention it deserve back in the day.

It was the first time the color-timer's design on his chest was significantly redesigned, and it was also the first time the evil Ultraman appeared on the TV screen. The story is especially appreciated for its quality, which is enjoyable enough for adults to watch. These elements, combined with his dramatic exploits in the story, make this Ultraman still very popular and adored by many fans. (Offcourse, other series's ultramans are popular too. But this Ultraman's popularity is on a level bordering on worship. Perhaps, only Ultraman Tiga and Ultra Seven are at the same level.)
The only tragedy of this series is that the story was broadcast at 7:30 in the morning on saturday. The designs of the "space beasts,"(the classified name for these kaiju in this series), in this film are often grotesque, like those in so-called "monster panic movies," and since they feed on human feelings of fear, they prey on humans in a variety of ways (dissolving them with a dissolving fluid secreted from their bodies, devouring them with their mandibles, swallowing them whole, detaching and remotely manipulating pieces of its own flesh and engulfing them etc...).Many of the stories themselves are difficult to understand for elementary school age children, and many of them are very dark & serious. So scared the children, the main audience, and the ratings didn't go up. However, the good thing about this work is that there is an emotion that can be obtained only after going through the many tragedies in the story. So it was reevaluated after the finished of broadcast and gradually gained higher reviews.

One of the best things about the franchise is that they always show respect to previous Ultramen, often in the form of guest team up and crossover events. In the lore, the old an Ultra is the stronger they are, which has they easily keeping up the the newer generations power up. It just like in anime where old martial arts are super wise and incredibly dangerous.
That's nice when filmakers respect what has come before their project. People love a good crossover :)

Man, innocence is not what I'd use to describe the ultras between Seven to Leo. Those were REALLY dark shows. I mean they had an over all optimistic view and message but they were dark.

I know plenty of people will recommend the openings to Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, so I'll just say I'd be interested in that Doctor Who reaction!
But to clear some things up, Ultramen have various origins, whether they be aliens, super powered humans, or reincarnations of ancient warriors, one thing stays the same: they're giant defenders of the multiverse who typically work together with a science and/or defense team to battle rampaging monsters and malicious aliens.
And while on the surface, it may seem that the series has been "bastardized" over the years, I can assure you it hasn't. There IS more focus on the fights and toys now, but the themes and structure of the series remains the same. Ultraman Decker is a great example; it has the toy swords and robots and jets and whatnot, but it still puts heavy emphasis on the trials the lifeforms on Earth face.
We are going to do the Doctor Who openings soon and follow later with Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.

As a Japanese American viewer i can say i did not enjoy your reaction if i have to give some criticism you said ultraman is a robot actually ultraman is a alien and when you reacted to the ones that have rock music in them you assume that there late 90s when most of them are from 2003 to 2021 to 2022 so yeah those are my complaints and criticism so i hope you understand im not being mean im being honest
All good. This was only the second exposure to Ultraman of any kind. Our first was a reaction to the Shin Ultraman movie trailer. We knew nothing about Ultraman when we watched this.we’ve done some more Ultraman videos since. Thanks for your comments, they were not mean.

Thanks for the comments and all the replies. We got sent a link and watched the video. Also some of the openings made our content blocked, so TH-cam has edited them out so our video can be seen by the public.
