    As an England fan, note the muted celebration of Dempsey on his first test try compared with England’s ridiculous over the top celebrations for anything and everything…. Totally different mindest, totally different approach, totally different outcomes!!

    • @jamesh8862
      @jamesh8862 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      To be a try, his hand needed to be firmly on or in contact with the ball at the time of the ball being grounded. If you watch the replay, the ball has clearly has slipped out of his hand by the time it has touched the grass & he wasn't in contact at that moment.

    • @JEstey10000

  • @nialler78

    OK, I really enjoy watching rugby but I'm not too knowledgeable on the rules - was the first Scotland try a knock on? Does it not matter in that situation or or was it not a knock on at all? Would appreciate someone explaining it to me. Not trying to take away from Scotland's win or Van Der Merwe's try, just thought the ball bounced around in his arms a bit before the try.

      @@cedricpicard9016 many thanks Cedric! I thought I saw that being penalised before, must've been mistaken. As a non player the rules can be a bit confusing, sometimes it almost seems to be about what the referee will accept and adjusting your style to suit...

    • @jamesh8862
      @jamesh8862 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pretty sure that first half play was deliberate. The players were doing stuff with no support, forced to run back to defence & other stuff. A way to get the team used to where they will be. Basically giving the players a taste of what going to happen against the Springboks & seeing how they coped. On top of that, the players would have had themselves half on the plane & the sole purpose was to get a workout without suffering any injuries. In the 2nd, they switched back to normal & won it easily as Georgia faded.

      Since 2000, Ireland and Scotland have played 30 times, with Scotland winning just 6 games, last time they won was 9 games ago in 2017. In the same period Scotland have played SA 16 times, winning twice most recently 7 games ago in 2010.

      @@Patch801 Prior to 2019 WC, Japan had never beaten Ireland & had also lost something like 9/10 in a row to Scotland. Yet look how that turned out.
      Ireland have never got beyond a QF. Do you think that 'fact' is actually running through the minds of any of the Irish squad right now. Of course not because they have a solid squad that believe they can do something special.
      I could say that Scotland are going to beat South Africa based on the fact that they've lost the last two opening matches at previous matches but it means nothing. It makes zero difference to a group of players that a previous group of players did this or failed to do that.
      It's probably not going to happen but Scotland can punch above their weight & get out of the group. They catch SA right off the bat before they catch fire & become a juggernaut. The Springboks then need to hit IRE like never before or else they're out. SCO then come calling to a battered & bruised IRE side a couple of weeks later. As I said, it most probably won't happen, but there's more chance of that occurring in this WC that there was of Japan beating both IRE & SCO in the last WC.
