Thanks for your comments... I will suggest you to explore accommodation options from booking.com site. You find multiple options of ur requirement and budget.. Udupi is one nice place, staying in hotel close to highway will help u in easy connectivity to many tourists places.

Pl note that big size boat for St. Mary's island is available from Malpe seawalk point. This boat is safe and cheap.

Train will be very lengthy travel (37 to 40 hours of journey) anyway from Delhi you can come to Kundapur station or Udupi or Mangaluru.. kundapur is nearest and just 60 km away from Murdeshwar by road while Udupi and Mangaluru is bit more far.... thanks hope this helps you.
