Very familiar type of noodle soup. In Teochew dialect, guay tiow specifically refers to the fresh wide rice noodles. The type you use in pad see ew but narrower and thinner. I will also suggest that tang chye be added to the stock - it enhances the soup base very well and not just as condiment. My personal preference is also using shallot oil and sprinkling over the fried shallots at serving.
Watching this again in 2018, and I nearly cried when you say “flash back of home” cus I’m also far away from home and I miss Thai street food so much. I love how you describe the dish so well, I can just taste it by just listening to you. I’m so proud of you, P’pai. You’re such a legend.
I wanted to make this today and my mom said the noodles had to be in cold water for 2 hours, but I don't have that time! I was so relieved when you said you do it in room temperature water for 15 minutes ; u;
I 💝💝 ur style of demonstrating this recipe, u have su, h a wonderful personality. believe it or not, u just made me want to run to my kitchen n cook it for my family's dinner tonite. !! thanks so much, pailin. ur one of my fave "food tuber". can't wait to see ur next healthy thai recipes coming.... greetings from Indonesia. !🌏
I love your videos! My oldest son and I have food allergies, and as luck would have it, we tend to find Asian dishes easier to digest. My youngest just enjoys eating, so I'm fortunate there, right? Thank you for sharing your recipes and tips! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!
I live in Thailand and your videos are very helpful in teaching me how cook here. I would love to hear more of how to say the ingredients in Thai like you do with most of your ingredients.
Dear Pai, made this one just to your recipe, and now fam & neighbors want more every week! Now i am buying stuff on your kit, and heading to patreon next ta thank you!!
Don't know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs th-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!
Oh I love you!! Now I don't have to fly to BKK for my week long street food culinary fix. Love noodle soup. Now, all I have to do is find a chicken ball or pork ball recipe and I'm set.
Sawadee krup pi Pailin! Thank you so much for making this kwee-tiao video. I grew up in Thailand for 20 years and have unfortunately not been able to go back for a long time, so I do what I can to recreate it in my native country, as much as its never the same as at home in Chiang Mai. Thank you for making this video, I am sure my partner and I would enjoy this classic after-party dish! One thing I may add a little more water. Also if I may ask, do they not use white pepper?
Hi! I think you're going to have to ask her that one directly as she doesn't see the comments on here once the post is more than a week old (as per her note above). So click on "Show more" above to see how to contact her. Cheers! Adam
Omg, this looks so good. Can't wait to try it out! I went to Thailand two years ago for a year and I would eat this three days out of five at school, so this recipe made me try and make them at home:3
Thank you so much for the amazing information you share with the world! I have a question about the tang chai. I can't find it where I live and I wanted to find out with you if there is a Chinese substitute for it that you know of or if you know how to make one. Thank you

I tried this at a street vendor in Thailand. It's super delicious and addicting. I must say it taste nothing like Pho soup. It has a unique deep flavour taste, very well seasoning broth.
Thanks for all the delicious recipes. I was wondering I did freeze the lemongrass, but I don’t know what else I can use the rest of them. If you have an any idea , please let me know, thanks.

Hello, Pailin! Thank you for sharing this recipe . I must say it is better to make my own Chicken Stock rather than Using the store-bough one. I tried this recipe a few hours ago and it turned out good. I used Chinese cabbage (cai xin) , bean sprouts and Chicken breast.

You're such a wonderful teacher ! Thank you ! Could I ask you please create a vegetarian version! 🙏😇
TheHappyangel8 You want a vegetarian version of chicken noodle soup? Get out. Now.
Why don't you just substitute everything with vegetables then? You can use vegetarian broth and mushrooms for the "meat".
