- This is my 100th video and it’s about the servo rebuild on my MGB which started because my engine was running rough, I found the issue to be my servo apparently leaking so I replaced it with a new one and stripped my old one to find out what the problem was. The really interesting bit is at the end of the video, be warned 😂😂
Finding nothing initially I was a bit frustrated, as you will find out in the last 6 minutes of the video I found the problem, OMG........... You just continue to live and learn, how true this is.
Congratulations on reaching 100 videos! This one was a very helpful "putting back together" exercise re the Servo unit which brought the pages of the manual to life & saved as a useful point of reference.Fortunately mine still seems to be working after 44 years & so far have only had to change the hose from the servo to the manifold.
Well done!
Cheers,Charles
Thank you Charles, on both counts. I find it so satisfying when I find the root cause of a problem that I am or was having, and so frustrating when I don't find something. When I removed the servo and stripped it and didn't find anything obvious wrong It was starting to really get to me to understand what was wrong, then when I found the problem, I was "How come I didn't notice this when I removed the old master cylinder", when you see it, it's so obvious. Anyway that's why I added the bit on the end, that was the most satisfying part of the video for me.
Absolutely uncanny, I literally made the exact same mistake yesterday, leaving the seal on my old master. mine is a 76'
I jumped up from my computer and ran outside at 4:30 AM to find the master cyder and sure enough...the seal was sticking on.
And I was on here looking for how to rebuild a servo.
Thanks you so much for the info.

@@johndeaverfilms9220 brilliant, I love it when a plan comes together, that was uncanny. Everything happens for a reason. Cheers Marty
Never thought about the servo causing your engine to run rough. Now I think about it I understand. Bravo. I have a perfectly fine '75 MGB that has sat for 30 years. I replaced the single Zenith carb with a rebuilt set and replaced all of the hoses and yet it still runs like it has an air leak. Although the brakes work fine I suppose I'll need to investigate the servo for leaks. Thanks for your video. Hopefully it has put me on the right path.
Morning Raul, if this assists my work here is done. I’m glad you have got something out of my video. I fitted the Weber and after that was when I knew there was something else amiss, I never considered the servo as the culprit either. Cheers Marty
