It's a good circuit for learning how triacs work, but it's not simple when it comes to turning a light on and off. An ordinary switch is easier, cheaper, and much simpler.

Also, given the triac works with AC, I should be able to switch on/off an AC motor - yes? and maybe stick in a pot to vary the voltage and hence speed of the motor?? PS - great videos, and really appreciate your focus on cost!!
It would be an even more interesting video if you explained how the electronic components you use work. Also, you would explain your circuit diagram, how it works. Because you showed the circuit diagram, you showed how to solder it, but your channel viewers may not understand how and why your circuit works.

The switch between t1 & t2 is briefly taking all the current & wont last long,as these switches are for around 100ma or less,so very poor design.
