I did a body recomposition from October to January eating 2200-2300 calories per day, cardio 2 days per week, lifting weights to failure, weekly. I dropped 8.4% body fat in that time. Now I'm cutting with 1500 calories per day and doing an hour of cardio per day to drop the final 25lbs of fat I have to get to around 10% BF @ 180lbs. I know this is an old video so I’m commenting for myself here. I’ve been bulking for over a year now, and have consistently made some serious progress. It’s starting to get really hard to continue this lifestyle, and I have been on the fence of what to do. This morning I knew I wanted some of Sam’s advice on cutting, so I found this video. He literally talked about exactly what I needed to know. I’m finally going to cut for the first time in a while. It’s going to be hard as hell since my diet has been really saturated for so long, and I am going to be hungry all the time now. But I think it’s the right time. Thanks Sam, I really appreciate your talking segments and things you say. It’s great to have someone out there like you who we all can look up to.

I’m 224 lbs. 19% body fat. Just hit 315 on bench and I’m 21 years old. I feel fat, but I’ve struggled dedicating myself to a cut cuz I really don’t wanna lose that strength. But lately I’ve worked through the mental blocks and part of that is due to Sam’s advice. I’m at that point where I feel like that main gain stuff isn’t optimal for me. So I’m cutting to like 12% body fat and then I’ll start a steady bulk. Been doing a great job monitoring my macros and I’m finally actually starting to understand my body and what I need to do. Thanks Sam. And than you guys. Edit: I think I’m gonna update on all these videos how my progress is going. Something I can look back on haha

well, looks like i am starting cutting too. i have started bulking with you since day 6. i told myself: as long as he bulks, i will bulk. when he cuts, i will cut. finally lol. but honestly thank you. i did amazing gains just because of you.
Bodybuilding, at least in its fairly dedicated form, is definitely a young man's sport. When you add other responsibilities into the mix, i.e. marriage, kids, businesses etc., there is no way you'll have enough time, energy or anything else left to focus on it as much as needed. As Sam explains in his intro here, even just a couple of trips to Arnold and a bit more schoolwork were plenty to throw him off his lifting/bulking game.
eh, I don't have any of the things you have said, but I've seen people with more shit doing in their life and still go to the gym regularly, my gym bro/trainer is 1 of them. have a job, 2 kids, and a wife. and still go 7 days a week in the gym.
Definitely agree, I think at my age and responsibility level I'm okay to achieve "just enough", still very possible to get your lifts and diet in, but more difficult and feels near impossible to be your best possible self. Just make sure you get your lifts and diet in a decent place and you'll look better than 99% men in the same position as you, just need to be comfortable with never being perfect.
The one positive is the older you are, the more likely you are a tuned to your body, what it's receptive to from both a training and diet perspective. A lot of my 20's were spent spinning wheels in the trial and error stage and now I know how to get response from training and bang on the exact calories/macros to get a desired response. That is a very underappreciated benefit of being older but more tenured at lifting.
Just wanna say thank you Sam for answering my question about bulking or cutting. It’s like you were inside my mind cause I been thinking about what decision to make for like ever now. I now know what road I wanna take. HOSSTILE!!

It certainly wasn’t the most clean bulk I’ll be honest, I tried to get my protien in from good meals still had 3 clean large meals a day, but a lot was fast food, cakes, doughnuts etc!
@@Alex-vn9le You need to find your maintenance calories. When you do, you need to consistently eat more than that every single day and you will put on weight over time.

Yeah, the challenge of always trying to get and be better is something great. It's a never ending journey and you're always trying to get better and improve upon yourself. Even in advanced stages, you're always still wanting to be better and attempting things to get there. If your approach is like mine and yours is at least. Not everyone lifts with the same mindset. Same. Honestly I’m someone who doesn’t care to eat. Once I’m full, I’m done, and I don’t mind going hungry. Not good if you want to gain/maintain weight. Without trying to eat decent, being hyper active, I can easily float around 150-155. Last year I went through some stressful crap and got down to low 140s.. I’m 6’2.. shouldn’t be anywhere near that. heard sam say pound a week, ive been cutting for around 2/3 weeks now and i've lost just over 20lbs, i have just now realised how quick i have lost the weight (ive somehow got lil stronger too) been lifting for just over a year semi inconsistantly, starting to rlly put in the work and am seeing the benefits, thankyou sam for showing me how intensely i need to go 👏
20 lbs in 3 weeks is wild!! 1-2 lbs per week is optimal for most but hey you might have some insane genetics!
I like Sam the most when he's just chatting with us
This is why Leon Edwards has the most aesthetic physique
Who?

Starting my cut at the same day let’s go
Good luck with the cut!... You may find my planning the cutting diet video useful :)
Was waiting for this cut, now I can finally sync my goals with Sam's especially after being filled up after Easter perfect timing.
Day 1 starting with you ❤️🔥
41:41 "Extracurricular" 🤣🤣
Cut is gonna go crazy man 💪💪💪
my man , u got pride but no ego
I love how Sam refers to things like school and like life in general simply as “non lifting stuff” like lifting is all he wants to do and I think that’s freaking sick! Awesome for him!
Sam is smart. He knows Summer coming up and peoples obsession with being lean. So he dropped a surprise Cut series out of nowhere to bring the views back. The cut finna go crazy
It's definitely a nice time of year for it... I much prefer cutting down and the finished look.... and totally fed up of bulking now 300lbs lol
The views dropped because he started getting busy with other stuff and off his game/diet. Quite disappointing that with all his talks, he still can't plan his meals properly while traveling.
@@outsiderdf That's an interesting/fair take... I think maintaining the videos and all the rest is a big commitment though and after about this stretch of time the pushing food doesn't work as well either but good luck to him in any case :)
@PhysiquePhilosopher lol I'm the opposite I love bulking. I naturally have a large appetite and I'm still able to stay pretty lean. Started the 2nd Bulk at 180 going fo at least 220
@@AyKrax Good progress bro... I think at that weight I definitely felt the same as you... The pushing food to reach 300lbs is a bit different though, I think most people would find that! haha... If you don't find that at that stage though, you will be set to be absolutely MASSIVE though haha :)
Sam's cut is going to be a national holiday 💀
Cut is gonna be absolutely astronomical
Face pulling a full stack is insane
We need a new full day of eating on the cut. Excited to see what your cut holds this time
BRO I was on my final straw 2 weeks ago peaked at 250 morning weight started my cut and now you’re on the cut- I needed this bro!!! The cuts are gonna be insane 😏🗿
No way that switch up was crazy
Its finally started
About to hit my shoulders in the morning! Sam The Man. motivating people to workout all over the world. Cheers
the cut is gonna be unreal, hes already shredded he will look godly at the end
Cut.. This has to be an April fools joke 😂
hahaha... that's a good point bro! April 1st is the reason I'm waiting a day to drop my finished 300lbs bulk video so it isn't seen as a joke lol :)

Sam i would just like to say you are a inspiration to all of us bro thank u for everything
*For anyone who caught that statement Sam made about taking his "extracurricular supplements" and knows exactly what he actually meant is on another level mentally!* 😂
i clipped it lmao
Dont think it takes being on another level lol. Is cool to hear him address it tho, would like if he was a bit more open about it
I thought I was hearing things when he said that. 😮😮😮

He's been slowly bringing things up.
I'm gonna cut with you! Who else?

New season
It's my first time watching sam and it's almost an hour long but I feels like it's just a moment
I've been bulking since September (since I joined the gym) and I don't want to stop bulking any time soon. I've still got weight I want to gain as I started around 155lbs now I'm 165+lbs... Thank you Sam for the everyday videos 💪🏻
Anyway; I recently hit 170 on the scale for the first time.
@@goinhot9133 Yeah great to hear that! Keep it pushing! 💪🏻 I've been skinny all my life but slowly I'm gaining weight & muscles are getting bigger, I've gone from eating 2000 calories per day to between 3500 - 5000 calories everyday plus focusing on high protein intake, vitamins, minerals, creatine etc... The change of diet was the game changer for me to change my life routine, now its gym everyday, work half the time & feeling great! 😎🙏🏻
@@Real-B777 lol that’s inspiring keep at it, it will really pay off in the long run. I wish I was half that dedicated lol. I’m just trying to eat more, and go hungry less lol.
@@goinhot9133 you too bro! Keep up the hard work, eat like a king, train like a beast 💪🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻
This better be an April fools joke....
