Great build again. I read on a SAB forum that the exta bearing is a common problem. They seem to be extra. I love how everything is packaged so perfectly. Just ordered my raw 580 yesterday. Can't wait to build it!
That’s what I’ve been reading as well but what really threw me off is there is always a little bag in every SAB kit that says extras. And it’s usually shims couple washers little things. But the bearings were included in the thrust bearing bag so upon reading the manual and going by the diagram now mind you the grips come “loaded” Meaning bearings are already in there. So of course going by the manual the picture layout that’s how I put it together but it was unbelievably tight to the point of taking extraordinary amounts of force to move the grips and that was some thing that really bugged me and I was not happy with. When I pulled it back apart which I’m glad I did there was only half the feathering shaft bolt in each side of the feathering shaft which could’ve been catastrophic. awesome man! You will love that build!
One of the things that threw me off until I read it in the manual is that it’s actually designed to be tight instead of free moving at first, so as it breaks in, you don’t wind up with slop. Almost like a preload. Also I know it says in the manual but it was worth noting when you mentioned that the thrust bearing is directional, that the inner and outer races have different inside diameters. Smaller goes on the head block side, larger on the bolt side.

The kraken is a beautiful model! Looks incredible, I like the RAW better but the kraken is definitely better looking. Nice! I’ve got 3 motorcycles. Had a bunch more but thinning them out lol
Looks great thanks again for the build videos...Im starting mine soon...I keep learning from each of the videos. Can you show us how to use the swash level? I know its redundant when you measure the links but can you tell us the best way to use it?
You’re welcome! I’m glad these videos are usable and your learning from. Yes I can do that, the nice thing about essay be there swash plate leveler just slips right on the main shaft no need to pull the head or anything. Personally I just measure the links and as long as all three links are the same and servos are 90° and you use a pitch gauge for Z-Ro pitch at mid stick which of course we will go over all of that on the radio set up part of the video. You will get a dead level and perfect flying helicopter with bleach tracking is straight as ever.
As tight as possible! You want the screw all the way bottomed out. Make sure the head is built right, all washers as they go. Thrust bearing in right. It should be tight but smooth. Are you running any shims in between the head block and blade grips?

Yes, it is supposed to be tight. It is a preload. Yes, the thrust bearings are directional and have an inner and outer race.

16:30 how tight do you torque these screws down? When I tighten mine the grips bind badly and the rotation is not smooth. Any tips? thanks
