    Love those up clise shots. Especially on the outrigger beams. Really shows that alot of engineering went into those outriggers. Not just some rectangular tubing cut to length.

      Jimmy's Tractor, they are definitely engineered and fabricated. The outrigger beams are probably stronger than the boom sections. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    That is an awesome crane...a lot of engineering went into it...thanks for showing the set up very interesting.

    Great video! That crane is a really interesting piece of equipment. I had no idea that you could level the crane just by adjusting the suspension. I thought the leveling was done by the outriggers. That is a very high tech piece of equipment. Looking forward to more videos on how to operate this machine. Good work Jimmy!

      Brandon, I'll make more videos like this one. Everyone seems to like the details. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    Hey Jimmy... I liked this video a lot because of all the operation details and reasons why you do different things. And oh yeah, I got a kick out of seeing you the other day on Andrew's channel. Channels I visit are like a big family. I'd like to meet all these channel operators, but everyone's too busy and too far away. I'm up north in NH (Live Free Or Die).

      Jack Sak, I'll try to get more footage of how we set things up and why we do things a certain way. My wife and I are contemplating a trip to the east coast. If we make that happen, I'll let you know. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    Cool man thanks for sharing! That suspension is neat, I always thought you just got the tires off the ground with the out riggers. Great job!

    Very interesting I didn't think it mattered on the tires off the ground

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Warren, tires off the ground is important. That's the only way to know for sure that the crane and load is completely supported by the outriggers. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    The interesting thing about the counterweight system on my truck is that the counterweight completely comes off, and the bottom of it actually opens up. This then allows you to put whatever heavy thing you want in there, and if for any reason you need to lose some of it you can flip it over and dump it out. I’m thinking about possibly taking it to the beach with me and putting some sand in it, but the only problem is going to be transport. I don’t know how I could keep it from flipping over once I put the sand in it. Of course I could you something bigger like marbles, but that might cost a lot.

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Williamson'sadventures, could you pick up a bag of play sand or something similar at a hardware store? Thanks for tuning in! 🙂👍

    • @The_blindpizzaguy1300
      @The_blindpizzaguy1300 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I probably could try play sand. It has a better consistency anyway so that might be worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Nice video. I’m really curious about your dolly. We don’t have anything like that in Chicago yet BUT I also might’ve missed seeing one. All of ours are either a 2 axle or 3 axle. I’ll need to check my weight law book because you guys must be different from us. I know your carrying counterweight on yours but I’m not talking about that. You seem to move the rig with the boom over the front. We can’t do that here. One of the bigger truck cranes needs some boom extended even with a tri-axle dolly to be legal on the permit.
    That’s no joke about dropping the rig either. I did it ONCE and only once. I’m still missing part of my butt cheek from the chewing that I got.

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Richard Savaglio, I only move the crane with the boom over the front inside of our local commercial zone. Anytime we are on the highway, the boom is on the dolly. I'll see about making a video of the dolly for you. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    A big thumbs up
    I have a question
    Will the Crane be out of level when making a pick and swinging? If yes how do you get it back to level when lifting?

  • @peterhaan9068
    @peterhaan9068 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And the reason for having the wheels off the ground would be?
    Can you monitor/adjust the load on the outriggers from the crane cab?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Haan, having the tires off the ground is the only way of knowing that the full weight of the crane and load is 100% supported by the outriggers. I can monitor the outrigger load from inside the cab. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    Great vidja jimmy!! Question for you?? Is the suspension hydraulic or air on the crane carriage?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chad Isett, thank you! The suspension is hydraulic with accumulators in it. The only air system is brakes and emissions. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    May be a dumb question but, the crane is a class b cdl vehicle right? Does attaching the dolly then make it a class a?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JasonWorksAlot, I think it's class A all the time because it is over 80,000 lbs. Class B is single unit, up to 80,000 lbs. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    It's like alittle game trying to get the dot in he circle haha what's your speed record for getting it in the circle?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skidder Kev, it kinda is like a little game getting it in the circle. Occasionally, I'll retract the suspension and the dot will be right in the center, with equal weight on all corners. Those days I think I should buy lottery tickets. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    So the 2 pins on outriggers keep the Russian hackers from changing your settings during a lift?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tiger Rule, I don't own it. I work for the company who owns it. The company I work for is a family owned construction and crane rental company. The owner is in the shop with us every morning. He talks about our families, asks how we are doing, etc.. Truly one of the best places I have had the opportunity to work. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍Oh, yes it was close to a million, used.
