    Making your paper in Origami = Sharping your pencil to draw.. making paper just required a little more practice and skill. XD

    Also understand that MC is not technically glue, more like a starch like plant derivative (although it does stiffen and bond materials); but it doesn’t have the same binding affinity that PVA would have; which is why it’s preferable to add to the MC solution to stick paper or any other material together strongly.
    Anyway great video! most comprehensive I’ve seen by far from any origami TH-camr

      Thank you! And exactly! Yeah PVA itself is normally the active adhesive in many craft glues.

    A good day for the origami community, when Boice is sharing all his knowledge with us again :D
    I have a question about the PVA (white glue) mix. Do you think it's possible to treat double tissue with only a white glue/water mix? I know we can use this mixture for starching hanji, but i'm not sure if it's any good with treating tissue paper.
    Thank you.

    • @OrigamiByBoice
      @OrigamiByBoice  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for the compliment!
      And to answer your question, yes you can treat with PVA and water only. The resultant paper won't have the "crispy" kind of texture, but more of a plastic texture. This still works fine for most uses and can even be wetfolded with water since the pva will redry into shape. The main issue when treating is that the paper might stick too much to the surface.

    Another good color separation method is triple tissue with two layers of the same color to one darker layer

    • @OrigamiByBoice
      @OrigamiByBoice  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True! but that will drastically increase thickness for certain types of models.

    Hello, great video and examples. I actually never thought of laying the two sheets perpendicularly. I was wondering if there were better ways of getting rid of wrinkles in double tissue. I find that using a card makes it really easy to rip. I've found that if you get the tissue paper really tight on the roll, there tends to be less wrinkles. Is there a better material or technique to use to remove wrinkles?

    • @OrigamiByBoice
      @OrigamiByBoice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      Here’s my advice for you!
      Keeping the tissue tight on the roller really helps! The next level to that would be to lightly mist the water using a spray bottle on the tissue to let it stretch out a bit before rolling it. (Very very light mist)
      The card technique is definitely the best method, as you can see in my example, I was fast but careful while using it. If its still tearing, there is probably too much water content in your mc mix or you are using the card too early.
      To solve this, lay some durable paper towels gently on top of the tissue for less than 5 minutes (so it doesnt stick). This will absorb the extra surface water.

    • @OrigamiByBoice
      @OrigamiByBoice  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah, if the paper won't peel off, you want to gently peel the paper off before its fully dry and then place it back down flat. It has to half dry so the paper doesn't tear from being wet. Another solution is to not use as much MC on the surface at first or only after the second layer.

      Yeah gluesticks is possible, but not recommended. And same process for foil except you might need better glue to stick the foil. MC doesn't react on foil exactly the same.

    • @sarhan_
      @sarhan_ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mc would not be able to penetrate and soak through foil (unlike when applied to paper) so the bond would be weaker I would imagine. Adding a healthy dose of PVA or some other glue could be a good idea
