Boice, ive seen some folks treat paper on glass, for easier lifting. Also, perhaps an experiment with spraying matte fixative to both sheets prior to doing any actual gluing; I've sprayed fixative on models prior to dipping into resin, so the paper won't turn translucent.
Oooh fixative is an awesome tip! I will definitely have to try that!!! I would definitely use glass but I havent found an affordable sheet of glass thats over a meter length width haha!!
That's a really fresh idea! I've always prepared duo paper using spray glue, but there's something wrong with it, specially when making reverse folds. Definitely I'm gonna try this out. 😃
I’ve always wanted to do that maid and send it to my favorite TH-camr, but I’m lacking in: double tissue, fine detailing experience, and I’m hopelessly stumped by the step where you stretch and re-align the hexagonal squash fold (that I believe makes up her dress bow). I did okay on the mermaid and I’m about 90-95% there on the bunny girl, but I really want to perfect the bishoujo series. The trouble is I can only visualize so much what I have to do and sometimes that leads to disastrous results (the the time I made the Ju Jak only to realize near the end that I’d somehow switched the wings and feet)
The diagrams are indeed quite tricky to navigate for the maid. It is even not as clean as I would have liked due to trying to figure out some steps that weren't working for me.
I’m sorry. I never got any notification that I’d been replied to 😅. So I managed to make (a form of) tissue foil at least once. It was actually a sheet of green 12in washi with tin foil and a sheet of tan tissue spray glued to it. I used it to fold a a mermaid and I was gonna send it to him. But then I lost it in the move. A shame since it came out pretty good, and the tinfoil gave this shimmer to both her skin and tail in unique ways making it look like I folded with magical paper.
I use loctite spray adhesive! Doesn't set until about 2 minutes after application, so it's perfect time for pushing out air bubbles! And it keeps the tissue very thin!
Thanks a lot for the great ideas! Spray glues from the hardware store can also do the trick since they usually do not contain water. Just make sure you use a mask, etc.
Have you ever tried spray glue? Since it's not liquid it might give the same effect, probably would work better using already treated tissue sheets aswell, it's something that I still have to try...
Havent tried it myself but Spray glue in my opinion is the best way to go alongside adding a thin acrylic layer on the whiteside before adding the dark paper. These two methods probably yield the best results for duo papers
@@OrigamiByBoice I've actually tried spray glue before, but for my kinda tissue I didn't notice any difference in color than if I just MCed them together. I guess I just have good paper tho. I don't think it'll be any different if I did this glue stick method.
The black would show through the wenzhou a bit, so it would be more of a light grey black color. There are some other ways I have seen people use such as painting thin white on top of the white as its partially drying, but I have not tested it myself yet.
I understand why you tried the glue stick for the stronger color change. But if I'm going to all the trouble of using MC, dang it, I'm going to MC all the way through.
They help keep flaps from moving around while I work on it. That way it doesn't get in the way. It also helps the paper get some memory over time of where I want it to stay
Hey I have a question. I buy my tissue paper from origami shop. But there it says that the paper isn't suitable for methyl cellulose preparation so in that case.. what adhesive or glue do I use to make double tissue paper? I would really appreciate an answer Thankyou
It might leak through if your MC is to watery but normally youll use MC on layers that aren't shown so it should be ok. I shaped this one primarily with white glue however, to ensure that it will be dry
For me, A printer paper is the best. I had no problems. Not even any problem in the Ryujin 2.1 I am folding, but its a bigger version of the same thickness of a printer paper
Can you make a tutorial to how to make a house maid like you did in this video? Pls? I know that is on the book of Chen Xiao, but the most important steps are really hard to see
Hi! Since it is not my design, I am not going to make a tutorial. For someone to make a tutorial, they would need to ask permission from Obelisk and Nicolas Terry. If the diagrams are hard to understand, be sure to practice other ones before trying it. It is an advanced model
hey boice very good paper i think you have for the result...i had a question that is there lots of difference between tissue and thai unary paper?(plz answer completly)thanks man!
Hi! I’ll try to answer my best! Tissue is generally thinner and weaker than unryu. Tissue is machined while Unryu is more handmade. Unryu is made from mulberry tree fibers where the fibers are uneven making it stronger. It also tends to come in larger sizes than tissue.
There is nothing worse than when you finish making double tissue and you see a hair stuck in it.... take his advice, wear a hat😂😂😂😂
Cant stress that enough 😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah, I need to start wearing something on top of my head when making paper haha
@@OrigamiByBoice i remember that bad day....
One time I got an insect between my paper 🥲
I tried this an the color change is amazing. Love the color change and this works really well especially with more stronger glue sticks. Thank you
Awesome you tried it! Its not the easiest to make but it has its benefits!
Yah it took me around an hour to make but works well
Ngl that probably was the smoothest plug in TH-cam history! Thanks for participating in the contest Boice !
Thanks Bodo!!! haha glad you liked the plug loool!!!!! The challenge was a lot of fun!
Found it very helpful and first of all inspiring. The video encouraged me to experiment. Stunning model. Thank you Boice.
Awesome to hear Mark! Cant wait to watch more of your videos!!!!
@@OrigamiByBoice Likewise. You're redefining origami YT.
I occasionally iron my paper to remove wrinkles, place a thin towel over and it comes out pretty well
I do that when im not lazy as well haha! Definitely a good trick
I remember seeing your iconic samurai at St. Johns University during the 2019? Origami USA convention. Super dope seeing this tutorial!
Thank you!!!! Thats so cool you got to see it there! I can't wait to go back to another convention
Yoo another banger. Never thought of using the tissue paper that comes with clothing, I'll try that for fun for sure. Can't wait for the next one :)
Thanks! Its definitely a nice source of “free” paper haha!
You are amazing. Such an inspiration
No ur an inspiration ;)

Good music choice also

Interesting, know of any other ways of creating duo paper? Would combining Wenzhou with black tissue be better or worse?

Hahaha i almost accidentally just did both normally out of instinct when making this video 😂
what does the paper clips do for the model in the folding process
They help keep flaps from moving around while I work on it. That way it doesn't get in the way. It also helps the paper get some memory over time of where I want it to stay

Hm, I am not familiar with their tissue paper but as long as its previously untreated, it should be fine for making double tissue
someone knows where to find the instructions on how to do it
The link is in the description!
@@OrigamiByBoice thnk u bro
Lmao i tried to make this glue stick double tissue paper and until I had to glue both 2 sheets together I realized im out of glue stick 😅
Oh no!!!!!!!!!
Wich glue did you use in the video? Really great job!
Glue stick from blick art stores. I don't recommend trying this anymore though haha
imagine using glue sticks to make paper
this post was made by the hot glue gang
Oh u righhhhht. Hot glue gang is 600IQ
its insane to use hot glue🤣🤣🤣
What was the size of the paper?
About 50cm
what recipe do u use for the mc
About one table spoon for one regular cup of water
Does the black bleed through when you shape with MC, or does the gluestick form a protective layer?
It might leak through if your MC is to watery but normally youll use MC on layers that aren't shown so it should be ok. I shaped this one primarily with white glue however, to ensure that it will be dry
@@OrigamiByBoice thx
was it water you sprayed the tissue with?
Yes! It helps get out existing creases since it was folded in a package
For me, A printer paper is the best. I had no problems. Not even any problem in the Ryujin 2.1 I am folding, but its a bigger version of the same thickness of a printer paper
great
i ned to learn that model

How do I prevent my double tissue being “Crispy”
Treating it with PVA instead of MC will make softer double tissue
This is so cool, never thought of using a glue stick😂 I just started making videos, any tips? lol
Thanks!!!!! Awesome! Greatest advice is to keep making videos! Try to plan them so you don't get too busy or too stressed when making them!!!

I wouldn’t paint tissue paper. I would just buy the correct color 😂. If i wanted to paint paper I would choose a better one that can be dyed.
Okay, didn’t seem like the best idea to me either lol. Thanks for the advice!
I thought i was the only one who couldnt just peel the paper right off the floor😅 atleast i know im not the only one with this problem
