    Hard to implement, hard to grade. That is this retired Soldier's opinion. Good luck to older Soldiers since age will no longer be taken into consideration. If you young guys think that sounds like it should be, wait till you get some miles on your odometer and an accumulation of wear and tear that never fully heals - it takes its toll.

      @Leonardo Alonso A lot of females struggle with the weightlifting part of the test. On the OPAT they made the moderates do 120lbs, yet want soldiers to do 140 on the test. There will definitely be failures, especially for the smaller folks.

    • @cassiecurutchet9442
      @cassiecurutchet9442 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I'm honestly not looking forward to performing this. They have zero substitute events for those on any profile due to injuries of some sort (which is their intentions to discharge people) but I feel like they aren't concentrating on soldier's form. I feel like there's going to be more injury stories than success stories. Thank you for your service!

    • @rikoea6530

      @@cassiecurutchet9442 They actually do have alternative events for soldiers on profile, but they're just as difficult to pass (It's biking, swimming, or rowing). It's an 84% fail rate for females so if anything they are trying to get rid of them. It's a very ridiculous and complicated test. They just recently changed some of the standards again, and its not getting any easier.

    When I was in the Army, we did the APFT and that was such a boring 3 event fitness test. I REALLY like the look of the ACFT, it actually looks like a lot of fun with all of the different events that really push you beyond just 2 minutes of situps and 2 minutes of pushups. This test will really challenge a lot of the Soldiers and start weeding out the ones who truly aren't physically fit and strong enough to serve in the Army.

    The 2 mile run is absolutely unnecessary. It can should be substituted with ruck march for heavier guys, like rangers do on their 5 mile run. I joined at 5'9, 260 lbs - I am a powerlifter. I could ve ruck marched for hours with ANY weight on my back, but running was causing fractures on my shins, which were manageable during running, but then it takes days (sometimes weeks) for the body to recover.....

      I think for the dead lift it's a 60 and 100 point in respect to 140 lbs min and 340 max. A 10 lb medicine ball, 4 meters: 60 pts and 13 meters 100 pts. Hand release 10 reps: 60 pts, 70 reps 100 pts. The sprint drag carry is for time so 3:35 gets you 60 pts, 1:40 gets you 100 pts. Leg tuck if I'm correct I thing 1 rep gets you 60 pts [that's probably where age comes into consideration} lol, and 20 reps gets you 100 pts. And I believe the run is 21:00 gets you 60 pts and 1245 gets you 100 Pts

    Sorry, but calisthenics are a much better indicator of physical ability. If someone can knock out 60 push-ups and 15 pull-ups you know that they have a decent amount of strength and endurance.

    All of these exercises are irrelevant when Soldiers are driving trucks in convoys, maybe 11Bravos can benefit from this but even still the AFCT is administered twice a year, how affective will these exercises be if they're not repetitive, it's just like going to a gun range shooting every 6 months as oppose to every week, a Soldier can't win a ground war practicing every 6 months.

    It's a good p.t. program but other than that as a national guard soldier it takes away from our already busy drill weekends and we could be in the field but I stead we are busy doing this CrossFit test. We go to war again and we will be prepared to crossfit all over our enemy. I would rather have more field time and training time. That way we are ready for what ever comes our way. And just saying we already have enough p.t. failures in the army as a whole we don't need to add to it

      Tyler Thrash the whole idea is that those people are either going to get with the standards or they’re going to be phased out... that’s kinda the point, ya know? If you aren’t physically up to standards then the rest of the training doesn’t really matter..

      As far as I know the US have no official language at federal level (whereas some 30 States declared one or more official languages). I guess that nevertheless it has to be stated somewhere in the Army's (an other Services') rules and regulations, otherwise giving and receiving orders would result... problematic.
