      @@sidneybakergreen You're welcome! You come across great on camera, good insight and super articulate! I'm just about to start more HDR colouring work and one question I have is delivering HDR and SDR grades of the same project. If I grade in HDR10+ for the HDR master, does that include the metadata for that single file to be reproduced properly on a SDR monitor or does it require creating two projects, one in HDR, one in SDR and making adjustments separately within the SDR project? Does that make sense?

    Yes, this is perfect! Super helpful and it made perfect sense for what I needed to accomplish. Well done dude!
    Working in hdr and then exporting in rec709 just doesn’t make sense to me anymore. Especially when all my displays are hdr and tablet and phone all have hdr too… it’s future proofing it hopefully too but I am very curious what is next for hdr (type) of visuals…? With how much the eye see’s and how much our cameras are exponentially growing with crazy dynamic range, it makes you wonder where it can go from here… cause it’s not like it’s a massive difference for most people, but when you watch it in theatres or on a huge tv like an oled I can notice a difference, but only when I am really looking for it.
    Anyways. . . Thank you so much for this. I will try some more of this out again soon and hopefully doesn’t get smashed with TH-cam’s compression, right… lol.
    TH-cam’s preference online seems to work pretty great. But I’ll need to look it up again for hdr.

    How do paste the grade info for Raw decoding from a still to the multiple clips BEFORE actually color correcting. I have 10 bmpcc raw cndg and want all the clips to be same...this in CAMERA RAW

    • @sidneybakergreen
      @sidneybakergreen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could create a powergrade for just the camera raw settings. Grabbing a still and pasting it. Just make the camera raw adjustment and clear the node tree. Save the still, and apply grade to other clips.

    Nice studio set up, thanks for the tutorial on HDR it helps a lot, please if one have a HDR enabled screen do one still have the need to set the screen mode on the preference option?

    • @sidneybakergreen
      @sidneybakergreen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! And thank you I forgot to include that! My display is forced into HDR through HDMI signal forcing. But you'll need to enable HDR Metadata over HDMI in the project settings and make sure your display is set accordingly. Including being calibrated

    This is very helpful ! I just switched over to resolve after finding your video on the ProRes Raw converter.
    Question, on my Atomos Ninja V+ I’ve been monitoring in Rec 709 for all my videos. When I want to do Rec 2020, should I monitor in HDR ?

    • @sidneybakergreen
      @sidneybakergreen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes 😭 always monitor in PQ 😭 not because of what you’re going to do in post, but because you won't be displaying the full dynamic range when Monitoring in Rec 709

    • @terryalexander4783
      @terryalexander4783 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s fair! Although I feel like PQ doesn’t show blown out/clipping highlights correctly

    • @terryalexander4783
      @terryalexander4783 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding to this. I switched to monitoring in PQ, but then when I brought in a video, it was completely blown out in Resolve. Does this occur often ?

      @@terryalexander4783 did you follow the steps in the camera raw setup section before you imported the footage?

    • @terryalexander4783
      @terryalexander4783 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sidneybakergreen I did ! Also, when I play back the video on my njnja V+ on Rec 709, it’s blown out everywhere- but in PQ it looks fine 🤔

    Ps. if you hear anything funky with the audio, resolve didn't like me today after 4 exports... So we will just act like you didn't :)
