in my opinon, there are some important informations missing: setting in GUI full level data? turning on full level on the asus monitor too? keeping local dimmer on or off?
Thanks for the info! Just wondering if I'm using a window pc with a motherboard that has thunderbolt 4 ports built in at the back I/O, would it be possible to use the Ultra studio 4K mini via the TB4 port on the MB with the pro Art monitor, instead of using a Decklink card that takes up one of my PCIe slot? (FYI my MB model is the Asus ProArt X570 CREATOR WIFI)
I have one Monitor (PG32UQX with 1400 nits) and I figured out that I need a DeckLink now to see the HDR because you won't see any HDR in the Davinci preview. Do I need now a second monitor for the GUI or I'm able to use only one monitor? That depends if I have to buy an Atomos. So expensive for hobby use only.
i get raised black floor when i work with Panasonics V Log and HDR in Davinci Resolve any solution to that? what i need to do with every video to get back the 0 blacks is to adjust the "offset" wheel and drag the whole video down to 0 black. The RGB colors ends at 1 on the waveform when it should be 0
Great explanation. Thank you! To use with Resolve is it necessary to use the Blackmagic UltraStudio 4K Mini or will it also work with the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K
Im no expert cause i never done a HDR workflow but you should be good with the Decklink Mini Monitor 4K as long as you have a desktop PC to insert the card into a PCIe slot. The UltraStudio shown in this video is also good for laptops cause its external but its an expensive device for some of us.
Hi Everyone. So I recently purchased the ASUS PA27U monitor and supplemented my Windows 11-based PC with the Decklink Mini Monitor 4k card. I am having issues with 4k signal over HDMI. The picture on the ASUS monitor, which I use as a reference monitor blacks out for a few seconds and then comes back, when I work in DaVinci Resolve. It does not happen on my other monitor (a regular consumer grade LG 4k monitor) and it does not happen in lower resolutions. Does anyone have any idea what a reason of this problem could be?
Hi. This looks as if it might be really helpful for me - just thinking about going HDR with DVR studio 17 on PC. Which Dec link card is needed? Thanks. BobUK.

Hi there . Thanks for the video. I am new to HDR and I want to know what are the PC requirements for a windows 10. My PC specs Monitor: Asus Proart UCG 32"Inch Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 3090 Processor: AMD threadripper 3970X RAM : 128GB Software using: Davinci Resolve Studio 17 Do I still need a playback card as I have a RTX 3090 ? Please do let me know and thanks in advance . I am looking to purchase the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro if my graphics card is not suitable to edit HDR
For accuracy you need to get a decklink/ultrastudio along with a few other things, the 8k decklink dosen't have hdmi so get either it's an ultrastudio or a decklink mini monitor 4k but I will say only invest if you want to become a colorist
@@mariotriforce Hey . Thanks a lot for replying. I really appreciate that . I have gone to buy out the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K and there you go now I can see the true colors and brightness on my reference monitor. Woww.. Strange though my $3800 RTX 3090 didn't display and a $200 DeckLink bought all the difference. Thanks a lot to you again . I am completely satisfied now 🙂🙂
@@jesminesingh8908 ya thats because Nvidia GPUs aren't Coulor managed they go off the os and the os dosen't really care about accuracy 😉, regardless you will still need to calibrate the monitor too 🤔🤔
Sadly we do not all get to use APPLE products good as they may be. Blackmagic do actually make the necessary product and do document it in their DVR manual. Since neither they or the host responded to my question I'll do it. You will need a PCIe card from BM called a Decklink 4K Exreme 12G to use in a PC based system. BobUK.
@@petrub27 See page 227 in the current User Guide. I think you are not passing the meta-data. Please can we calm this down a bit? I don't like being called a drama queen and you would not like me to start calling you names either. I'm working at 50 fps at times, if you can do it cheaper, good for you and thanks for flagging that up.
From Puget Systems website about DR hardware requirements: "While all the video cards in our DaVinci Resolve workstations support 10-bit displays, if color accuracy is concern we recommend using a Blackmagic DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K and the Studio 4K 6G-SDI PCI-E cards.".
This is by far the best video I've seen on HDR basics. It's like people forget there are beginners out here lol. Thanks.
Agreed! All the stuff I found in my HDR learning journey to figure out HDR was much of a "trial-error" stuff...
This is the best info ive seen on this subject, thanks! Wish there was more like this.
This is a very important video around hdr workflow. Not many people are explaining this correctly. Maybe we are early
I've watched 100 HDR workflow vids and the Colour space setting is different on each one!
I just think Windows can now have HDR while in desktop, it should be trivial to add MacOS-like HDR preview support
Well, of course it would be still be better with a dedicated external monitor, but for hobbyist casual user, it's all we need...
Can I use an old UltraStudio 4K thunderbolt 2 for this monitor?

Did I miss the part about what profile to set on the monitor itself?
Hello, I have an Apple M2 max. If I make a Dolby Vision HDR video without an upstream card, can the monitor monitor it normally? Thanks
Thanks for this video. But on the PA32UCX-K which Preset profile is the best to use with this wide gamut configuration ?

Yes, you need a separate monitor for timeline and the davinici program

Is there a way to set up a proper HDR preview of the ASUS PA32UCX is the only monitor in the rig, so you have to edit and monitor on the same display?
Not at the moment. Apple laptops can do HDR in the Davinci viewer. I feel so left out.
Wow this is powerfull, thank you

I connected to LG C2, with RTX 4090 via HDMI 2.1 Cable.
All games can play 4K HDR 120fps.

Duck your camputer and playback device. Premier pro doesnt need this. Fix your davinci resolve software!!!
