I saw McGuinn do a solo show at my hometown theater 15 or 20 years ago. His solo acoustic "Eight Miles High" was brilliant! I don't know if people are aware of what a good musician he is.
I saw The Byrds on May 18, 1968 at the Fillmore East. They played many of the songs that would appear on their ‘Sweetheart of the Rodeo’ album that was released the following August. Clarance White and Gene Parsons were members of the group at that time. Tim Buckley opened for them. To my surprise, half the audience left the theater after he finished his set.
Wikipedia says that GRAM (not Gene) Parsons quit the Byrds after July 7, 1968.GENE Parsons joined the Byrds in July 1968. Chris Hillman quit the band after September 15, 1968. Clarence White played on several Byrds LPs, but didn't become a member until late July 1968. According to Concert Archives, the Bryds played the FE on 5-18-68, with Tim Buckley as the opener. This suggests that you saw the McGuinn-Hillman-Gram-Jon Kelly version of the Byrds, not the McGuinn-White-Gene-John York (?) version. Either way, it's very impressive that you saw them play the Sweetheart songs.! Alas, I was too young and lived nowhere near NYC. The original Burritos didn't play near me either. GP never played my town. You are fortunate to (probably) have seen him.
I love this song ! and it says it like it is , and Roger was asked a few years ago , What was your best moment in music , his reply was , When I got out of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. theres a great video on you tube of roger and his lady , just busking around gigs ( still sharing his magic/music ), in a camper van ! and being as free as a bird ! thankyou for this magic share !cheers from france ritchie .

Very underated I agree along with Wilko Johnson, have never had the credit they deserve
marty has such a great band and guests.
McGuin, Hillman, Marty Stuart (playing Clarence White’s B-bender Telecaster) and the Fabulous Superlatives.
Beautiful guitar so strange….

The personnel you mentioned could play any genre of music perfectly. Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughn might well be the best duo guitar pickers around.

I was at that show… with a date. Tim Buckley was frankly very boring, but the Byrds were terrific.
Wowissimo! 💥
Big mistake.

Gene Clark was such an underrated musician. His body of work speaks for itself. Surprised he doesn't get more credit than he does.
Never underrated. Just a tired old TH-cam comment.

I saw Roger live without the Birds. Great performance
Love seeing Chris playing a Tele P-bass.
I got to see the Byrds in 73 (maybe 74?), with Clarence White playing that same guitar Marty Stuart is now playing.
The original B-Bender!
Must’ve seen CW in 1973, since he was killed by a drunk driver July 1973.
@@danielweiss5709 looked it up it was Barton Hall at Cornell, February 10, 1973, his second to last concert with them.
Two Rickenbachers on the same stage. Cool.
The fireglow 12 string is an oddball. No R on the tailpiece. No soundhole, 3 pickups.
Wonder if that was a Kenny Vaughan touch?
Great footage! I saw this tour when it was in Boston - a fantastic night.

Soooo much talent on one stage. Thank you for posting, Jeff.

The guy who produced my last album, Steve Connelly, was Rogers music director and guitarist for a decade.
Interesting. What do you mean re the guitar comment
Crosby was a flawed genius with the voice of an angel. McGuinn looks and sounds pretty much as he did in '65.
Nice
I'd pay a dollar to see that.
Back in the day, that’s about what it would have cost!
