@@janes_dick5843 The company I imagine, given that the whole point of mocking the misuse of fairy tale items is the jab. Although a comparison could be made with Walt himself. Whatever personal flaws Walt may have had, he was undeniably a good businessman. So is Jack. His baked goods empire is clearly thriving. I think Jack's whole arc is meant to portray Disney from beginning to modern day. Modern Disney is obsessed with progressive ideas like forced diversity in their movies and shows. This is apparent in the Baker's Dozen. Look at them. They're very ethnically diverse and many of them have the typical dyed hair of 'rebellious' progressives. They're loyal to Jack (Disney) to the bitter end, even as he carelessly sacrifices them. Where does their loyalty come from? Money? That can't be it. Can't spend money if you're dead. The only explanation is that it's meant to express the blind brand loyalty to Disney that its fans have. They follow him to their doom and fight to the death to protect someone who doesn't care about them at all. Even when there's only a single Baker's Dozen left at the final wishing star confrontation and she's about to die... she calls out to Jack for help. Unsurprisingly, he doesn't help her and she dies. Yet she still expected him to for some reason. Her blind faith is heartbreaking in its foolishness.
A lot of the problems with such villains is that they pretty much are written as "doing the right thing but are just too mean" (see Killmonger or Thanos) or "are attractive/quirky and had a tortured past so they pretty much get to be antiheroes or whatever" (see Loki). They're actually grey since we're suppose to see they're in the right or don't deserve condemnation.
I think they made him so unapologetically evil as a response to the avalanche of surprise villains in recent kids movies. Just a good old fashioned lovable villain.
I love how you can't even pin the blame on the parents like most villains since he himself admits they were loving. This guy literally just woke up one day and chose evil
Tbh the only SLIGHTLY good thing he did was let the Serpent Sister leave with her (probably deceased) sister without any qualms, complaints or strings attached. She asked to leave and Jack just let her
Big Jack Horner is one of the funniest characters in the whole movie and I also love how his body and hands are ginormous but his little head is so small lol
Its because he is confident, has great theme and is for the most part competent. I mean come on, calling his group of fighting cooks Bakers Dozen simply slaps. Also from what I understood, he is reasonable boss in his day to day business as long as you do not go out of your way to piss him off. You do good job for him and he will keep his part of the deal. No silly betrayals or punishments just for sake of evilness. He does not care about wellbeing of others, but does not go out of his way to make people around him misserable if they do not get in the way of his goal. Also when he is faced with challenges, he does overcome them and do so often in hilarious way, unlike some other villians who are all talk but fails at every corner when they have to step up.
3:38 Jack Horner: wow they were bad at being bridge. That was just one tank. Could you imagine if that had been a bus, with families on it? Those jerks!

I think my favorite part about Jack is that he’s not even really mean or rude, he’s just evil
Like if you do work good, and don’t get in his way, he respects you and you’re fine
He’s blatantly honest with his intentions and doesn’t hide what hes super blatant with what he expects, and if you choose to work for him, it’s not really his problem
wait, that's true.
wow.
He used his men as a bridge and got them killed.
he disrespected his own manpower quite a bit tho 😂😂
Kinda like Elon Musk!
@@galten7361 But the next nearest bridge was two blocks away.

I like how Jack Horner was literally just Disney. I wonder how many people actually picked up on that XD
Do you mean Walt Disney himself or the whole company?
I saw it the moment I saw him gearing up for his quest.

I love when villain say or do something very mundane or polite in a very threatening manner.
Jack is a gem in a sea of dime a dozen morally grey villains in recent movies and shows I’m so happy we can still have these kinds of bad guys
@galten7361 didn't loki kill millions in new york?

I think they made him so unapologetically evil as a response to the avalanche of surprise villains in recent kids movies. Just a good old fashioned lovable villain.
Doing what the Shrek franchise does best since its inception, giving Disney the middle finger (or plum thumbs down, in this case)
I love how you can't even pin the blame on the parents like most villains since he himself admits they were loving. This guy literally just woke up one day and chose evil
Finally. a ruthless and comedic villain that Disney no longer knows how to do anymore
The face of jiminy cricket just kills me 😂 3:23
Tbh the only SLIGHTLY good thing he did was let the Serpent Sister leave with her (probably deceased) sister without any qualms, complaints or strings attached. She asked to leave and Jack just let her
I mean the transaction was complete and the sisters delivered the map
He set her up to be turned into gold to begin with.
“Can I… go?”
“Pleasure doing… ehh.”
They were promised "their weight in gold".
I don't even think he intended to turn them into gold, he just showed the glove, the sister was the one who touched it
Jacks proportions get me everytime
Jack Horner is just the definition of “7 foot giga chad”. i love how competent and hilariously despicable he is.
“Don’t you know I’m dead inside”
Unironically the best line Jack could ever choose to deliver.
Big Jack Horner is one of the funniest characters in the whole movie and I also love how his body and hands are ginormous but his little head is so small lol
His legs are small too.

I don’t know how dreamworks managed to make a character so evil, but also made it so that he’s actually likable and respectable (to an extent)

Jack Horner: wow they were bad at being bridge. That was just one tank. Could you imagine if that had been a bus, with families on it? Those jerks!

"You're not gonna shoot a puppy in the face, are ya??"
"Yeah, in the face. Why?"

After seeing so many people simp for the wolf I'm so glad to see more people love Jack Horner
I think the two characters are great in their own unique ways. Don't insinuate that one is better than another.
What’s sad is he never changed, never tried to be noble, or learn the true meaning of living his life.
All he wanted was power.
So what did he do to deserve this?

Another great movie with a great villain development, a smart, miserable and evil with certain standarts. Great work as always.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting Jack to be a big character based on the trailer, but he actually became my favorite villain in the Shrek universe in just one viewing plus the little redemption arc for Goldilocks and the three Bears crime family was pretty nice
One of my favourite lines from Jack Horner is "excuse me?" in his trophy room. I don't know why, but everything about it is funny for me. From the reason why he said that to the way he did it
Yes, I love how casual he is about everything despite his over-the-top cruelty, like how he just says "that was weird" after Baby Bear pushed him or how he genuinely asks if Perrito was having a hernia.
Well he is the only nursery rhymes character out of all fairy tales ones, so making him a really unchangeable villain does a favor
I really love how the writers tried to emphasise the fact that he had many chances to redeem himself by letting his underlings constantly reaching out to him for help=)))) They said their line in a monotone which makes it so damn hilarious, so on the nose but very witty and clever too:))))
