Thanks mate!!!!! this Really helped!!! My mom has a kirby, they're really great vacuums. It has that burning smell, so next I go back over to her place I will make this adjustment and hopefully that'll do the trick. cheers!!🍻
Thank you! I was getting the burning smell and did not know how to change the belt. I called the Kirby office to see if someone could change it for me--big mistake. The guy did the full sales pitch for the newest model Kirby and tried to get me to upgrade, then got an attitude when I kept saying no. He finally changed the belt and bag, hinting I should tip him. The next time I used my vacuum, it still smelled and wasn't picking up. This video came to my rescue! The brush was put in with each side being a different number--and I remember him saying they had to match. I think he did it on purpose so I would call back and think I needed a repair or upgrade. I'm very thankful the video showed exactly how to do it myself...and it ended up being easy.
So glad i could help , if your Kirby ever stops working i have plenty of videos and am here to advise and help. I had a Kirby a few yrs back i picked up from a lady not working, Kirby had told her the motor had gone and to upgrade and trade hers in . she had only had it 5 yrs. I found it was a $20 fix , i offered the lady her Kirby back as it was a cheap fix. She decline after Kirby had tried to take advantage of a easy fix. Sometime they burn there bridges with customers, by trying to take advantage. So glad my channel is helping so many Kirby owners . Thankyou for awesome comment and support really appreciated . Please give my videos thumbs and share up as helps with TH-cam algorithm to get my channel to more Kirby owner.

I get that, later generation kirby brushroll was more for convenience. As the micro adjustment screws were tedious for alot of customers. So Kirby changed design.
I’ve had the same model Kirby since 1999 and I never knew this! I must have gotten lucky on every belt change until now. Thank you! Have a blessed day!
This just saved me from buying a new belt that I did not need. Had it fixed quickly and was able to go about my cleaning. Thank you so much for this video!
I basically got a $2000 Kirby vacuum and every conceivable option for $175 for this exact issue. Sure enough I checked and one side was at 2 and the other side was at 3. So either it was burning or too high up for suction and proper cleaning. This video was brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Thank you so much. That fixed the issue with my Kirby. My wife kept complaining of a burning smell and wondering if the vacuum cleaner was about to go out on us or the belt need changing.
I very much appreciate this video. I had resorted to simply using it with the hose and attachments, but you have restored my hope that it will be fully functional again shortly. I'm about to go test this out. Thank you so much!
So I’ve already replaced my belt put it back together from my understanding is the proper way.. why would it still smoke? This is by far the best vacuum I’ve ever owned. spent too much money on it because we got all the bells and whistle‘s. It’s just so hard to let it go in the trash for what seems like such an easy fix. Thanks in advance n I hope you see this.

Frank Garber what I do is just turn brush roll off on flimsy mats . The belt you have fitted has a x pattern on the inside to grip brush roll. But if it gets to much sucked up or belt is worn brushtoll will stop turning and you get a burning smell .
@@KirbyEnthusiast There are none. I fear the motor is binding a bit. I tried opening it but the screws are really tight. It's been a good vac for all these years - first crazy purchase my frugal dad made from a door-to-door salesman who got him for almost $3K lol

Make sure you have put it back in on number 1 on both sides and it only lowered until tone changes the 1 more click Down. Hope this helps

I'm wondering if Kirby make a notched belt. I have a flimsy carpet and the vacuum basically 'sucks' the carpet up and stops the brush from rotating.
Frank Garber what I do is just turn brush roll off on flimsy mats . The belt you have fitted has a x pattern on the inside to grip brush roll. But if it gets to much sucked up or belt is worn brushtoll will stop turning and you get a burning smell .
So then what is the purpose of 1 2 3 when you need to keep it on 1?
I'm only using the hose attachment and the vacuum is generating a smell.
Check there are no hairs on the spindle

What if both of mine are at 1 and I still get this burning smell? 😢
Then belt is worn or you are lowering the head unit to far and carpet is getting sucked up in roller .👍🥰
@ thank you! I got a new belt and a new brush but it could be that last one. I’ll give it a go. Thanks!
