  • Join us in this video as we finish out our 2024 sailing season in Mexico as we haul the catamaran out for hurricane season in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. We do a final push up the Baja California coastline on our Gemini 105mc pocket catamaran and encounter dolphins, breathtaking landscapes, and sections of high winds with big waves that test our sailing ability as our autopilot is still broken and we hand steer the rest of our journey. The boat is now sitting on the dirt in the boat yard, so what's next? Let us know what you think of our future plans without the boat!
    Thanks for watching!

Great video! My wife and I retired and this is our first sailing season since, but a shoulder injury will be keeping us at the dock this year. So, thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. We too have land-based adventures with our travel trailer and have been enjoying land-camping this summer while our boat floats at the marina!! Here’s hoping our paths eventually cross! Safe travels!

Heal up soon friend. It’s nice to mix things up and have a break from each fun activity to not get tired of them. It’s also a blast to do other things!

Glad that the sailing conditions turned fair on your return voyage. You've made wonderful sailing videos and I hope to see you return to the waves. Looks like you found a good forested area for a home, and the other adventures sound interesting.

Thanks for watching and the support. We were glad to get fair weather heading north. It can be a beat trying to get up the sea of Cortez

I love your idea about boathouse, however, i was wondering about the budget and what are the disadvantages of it?

We live on the sailboat for 6 years! It’s wonderful and challenging all at the same time

I'm working on convincing my wife to live this way, starting with sailing on Polish lakes, planning the next step in the Mediterranean using a boat charter. You know, step by step ;-)
She is a girl from the mountains, so... she can't swim, she was always afraid of water, but the first reactions to a vacation on the houseboat are promising... She want's more. Swimming lessons means, she takes it seriously...
Based on your experience, is such a life possible for a 3-person family with a monthly budget of 2.5k EUR on a fixed income?
Maybe something more from remote work, if something comes along.

Awesome! We started sailing on a Catalina 30 in the harbor of San Diego California before working up the courage to get the new boat and head out. Mexico is cheap enough to make it work on a budget. Just all depends on your current lifestyle and how big of a change it will be. If the wind is blowing it’s free but you still need to find food just like living in a house. Boat maintenance and diesel fuel can be the biggest expense.
