This is a good teacher! When he realized he forgot to cut the one side with the roundover bit he could have started the video. Instead he said “You may be wondering why…….well i should have.” He was transparent, he didn’t make a big deal about it, and this is exactly the type of honesty people need to see. It closes that gap between teacher and learner that learners sometimes make it bigger than they should.
Glad someone shared your link with me on learning how to use a router. I have learned what I need to for my beginner project of rabbeting the back of a shelf I'm building. I'll keep watching for more tips.
Here a very unskilled man. There are so many videos on woodworking and many sophisticated woodworkers here on TH-cam but whatever I managed to build is from your videos, thank you.
I've recently gotten into woodworking and I was looking for a good channel to watch. The hoff photo sold it for me.You're my new goto woodshop instructor.
Like many of us, I have no idea what you said for a good minute after the photo reveal, and I'm still chuckling. Thank you for all the many videos you've made. I learn a little bit more each time I watch. Keep 'em coming!
Have just reached retirement age and I am going to set up my own home workshop, I have been considering a router and table and this and the previous associatted video have absolutely convinced me. Excellent video, informative and well presented.
AT 62 years of age and a lifetime DIY pretty good with all sorts of materials I a bought a router in a sale a year ago on impulse and its still sitting in my workshop, brand new in its box. I read some books but although it explained the technical details they failed to inspire me to have a go. Thank you steve, your way of explaining it all is fun and easy to understand. Whohoo today a picture frame tomorrow the world. OK maybe not the world but a tea light holder as well..... its a start.
Thank you Steve so much for making this video. I just got my first router and it is used and came with NO BOOK!! YIKES, I was lost for sure until I came across this video. I'm pretty much a beginner in wood working but have done many building projects. I call myself a "shade tree" wood crafter, for lack of another name. I'm not totally a newbie but have tons of things to learn. Thank goodness for You Tube. I have met so many people and they all are helpful like you. Again, thank you very much for teaching me how to operate my router.
We started building our 8" log home 5 years ago and this is our third winter in it. My Ryobi router has stood up to the most challenging task: routing out the wells for the electrical sockets. Most of my Ryobi tools (and especially the battery powered ones and chargers) have failed in pretty short order. Customer service promised to replace them-they never have. With that said; I now think I should go ahead and wear this router out making our own frames for my wife's art business! Thanks for a great series of tutorials.
Thanks. I've looked at a lot of videos to make picture frames, and you made it simple to understand. I am going to try your process first. I have a used router and table but the plate screws are missing, and were discontinued so I finally found them online. Can't wait to get them so I can get started. Over the last year I've been collecting woodworking tools, and I've watched a huge amount of woodworking how to videos. I'm going to make a table saw sled and then I have all I need for the shop..
I'm glad that I found you tonight, Steve! Out of all the DIY guys, you're definitely the most animated and fun to watch! Just got a RYOBI router and can't wait to try it after watching your videos! :)
I am a bigginer as inexperienced as they come... I watched your video and followed your instructions. Wow...I am very impressed how my project turned out . I cant hardly believed I made it myself...thank you for sharing you explain how to do it very well..... thank you again!
I laughed for like 5 minutes when you turned the frame over!!! Not only was it hilarious, but the video was a fantastic tutorial on how to make a picture frame.
Steve...I just rewatched this video because it was the first video of yours I ever saw a few years back. The router work is just as relevant, and your production has only gotten better! DD
Steve ! I decided to improve my still basic woodworking skills by using my router more. I need you to make more molding videos. You are an awesome teacher !
Excellent teaching and video series. I'm brand new to the craft and find these videos more helpful than any books or articles. Keep teaching the skills with tools while making projects. It makes a world of difference in learning and keeps it fun. Thanks so much!!
almost 600,000 subscribers makes you a TH-cam personality whether it was intended or not! Steve, thanks for doing so many fun, funny, informative and educational videos. I'm inspired.
I don't care what anybody thinks, but Steve has a great personality for this and the channel is very good. It's not often I can sit and watch a video and not want to poke my eyeballs out after a short time.
I got a router last year for my birthday and have been afraid to use it, after watching these videos, i am going to make a picture frame and use my nice router and table saw. I have been watching all your videos to learn tips and tricks. Just wanted to say thanks.
Haha I didn't expect The Hoff, Great video, Thanks to you I got interested in Woodworking. Now I have something to keep my mind busy away from work while at home.
Wow! I love your videos. I am Much less than mechanically inclined, and I have built a couple of your projects and you have really helped me get through some tough times by getting me excited for woodworking. Thank you so much for everything.
Love your videos. I just ordered my first router and am totally excited. I plan on many, many router projects and these videos are so informative. Many thanks.
I have to admit, this did not look like much as you said but at the end it's true beauty appeared. Very educational and definitely a plus for picture frame making. Thank you Steve for the tip
great videos... i will do every single woodworking project you did, in my own woodworkingshop... i like your sense of humor! greetings from germany... cheers
Part from you jumping into the camera it was an exciting demonstration. Now I have to get my old unit out of the box and restart what I should have done years ago. Thanks Steve and what's next.
Thanks for this and part 1. I'm a novice and just learning about how to build. Want to step it up with a router and this video gave me the knowledge necessary to get started. Thank you! Great videos!
Got a router table for my birthday this year... I practiced routing with the different bits using a bunch of 1 x 2's-- I made a bunch of pretty sticks.... GREAT VIDEO!
Man, you're awesome You explain things so clearly. I am a toddler in woodworking, but have always had passion for it. Your videos definitely help me and give me confidence to take on some projects and get my feet wet. Thanks!

Hey man, love your energy! Thanks for these two videos on the router. About to go use one for the first time and after watching these videos, I feel a bit more confident. Thanks!
Your videos are great. I did very basic straight cuts wood projects. Ready to move up to a router. Thank you. Your videos are very fun and I can follow your instructions easily.
I have had my router for a very long time and have always wanted to make a picture frame - actually lots of them because I would like to have a lot of matching frames - thanks a bunch for a great video!
These are by far the most entertaining and instructional video I've seen on YT! Keep up the upbeat and interesting instructional videos. Also, I don't usually post comments but @Steve Ramsey deserves it.
Thanks for another great video. I just got my router and router table. I've used them before, but this was a great review, since it's been a while (thanks, COVID). I always review the use and safety of every tool after a period of non-use. Love your videos.
I really enjoy your videos and your personality, clear explanations, admitting mistakes (let's me know the world doesn't end when this ultra-perfectionist makes a mistake), a-a-and really clever projects keeps me coming back. Keep up the good work.
I've been enjoying your videos as I am trying to get into some hobby woodworking. However, this video's thumbs up was primarily because of The Hoff lol. Keep up the great work Sir.
Glad I’ve got you to look to on this woodworking journey… Dad jokes and all! Great video even for 10 years ago. I’ve been subscribed for maybe 4 years now but somehow never saw these. Anyway, thanks a million!
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. These informations (videos parts 1 and 2) are very important and helps me a lot! You´re a great teacher! Thanks again, man!
Thanks Steve. That was informative as well as amusingly entertaining. I am making some frames to go under a chair rail in my home and wanted to make an inner decorative frame for them. This looks like it may work.
This is a good teacher! When he realized he forgot to cut the one side with the roundover bit he could have started the video. You're nothing but a fool.
Glad someone shared your link with me on learning how to use a router. I have learned what I need to for my beginner project of rabbeting the back of a shelf I'm building. I'll keep watching for more tips.

So great. Just got my router and excited to think outside the box. This video definitely helps with that. Thank you!
Nicely demonstrated, I'll try that as the 1st project. He's right about the noise and of course the power of the router seeming intimidating.
