Super helpful thanks so much. I've been drowning in all the information online and this realy condensed it all for me and made it alot easier to digest.
Hi ! I am wanting to start my own charity to fund schools and give out free tutoring for less fortunate students and schools. Firstly, I am under eighteen and would like my guardian to be my trustee - I am wondering if this is OK. Secondly, I am thinking about trading commodities which I will source from a vendor. 1. What structure should I use? 2. In order to get my VAT number, should I also register as a business? Thanks.
I’m on to the same. We are doing home schooling. And want to find raise for the family’s who can’t afford. We do garden clubs and sell plants and crops and craft bits to generate revenue to pay for buses teachers lunches. It’s the future. The state has failed us as kid and the ones coming up ❤❤❤ we are the tribe and community they are the rule givers and brainwashers
Hi! Thank you for making this video! Could really do with your advice. I am setting up a service for people who are self isolating during the pandemic . We are going to be taking calls from vulnerable people who need emotional support . We are a free service and have all our volunteers trained and DBS checked. No one gets paid and im putting my own money in to it to get it started. I am confused about this side of things though. Are we classed at not for profit organisation ? I have no idea about any of this side and could really do with some guidance please! Could you let me know how to go about registering and what as etc? and anything else i need to know about the setting up officially side of things ? I was told that I wouldnt have to do anything like this but im wanting to be certain. Wiuld also like to set up a funding page to get equipment etc . Would we need to register to set up a gofundme ? Thank you so much xx
Hi Hayden, thank you for your question! Under normal circumstance an unincorporated association (which is an unregistered charity to begin with) may be the best option for you based on the information you have provided in this comment. You would need a constitution to set this up as well as a minimum of 3 volunteer signatories/trustees (chair, treasurer and secretary). You could then use this to set up a community bank account in which you can receive your GoFundMe donations into. This would clearly help to differentiate the income as charitable. However, the only issue may be setting up a community bank account during this time due to the social distancing restrictions. There are banks that allow you to set up a business account online, but I am unsure whether this is possible for a community/ charitable account, but this is something you could look into. However, since this is likely to be difficult, you could still create your governing document but then use a spare bank account that you have for the online donations (unorthodox but maybe necessary) until you are able to officially open a community bank account. It would just be important to keep a record of all income and expenditure (and receipts) during the time as to accurately reflect the charities finances. Another thing to consider is what you plan to do post pandemic - I have provided advice based on solely a short term focus, but if you’d like to discuss longer term prospects and other possible options please feel free to email info@puratrack.co.uk. Blessings.
I plan on officially registering my charity as I help provide educational religious classes locally to accommodate the community and online so people are able to learn their religion. Sometimes we may organise courses and collect a fee, the money is intended as remittance entirely for the teacher's time and effort. My service is purely voliuntary and I may collect the cash via my personal bank account and then transfer the revenue to the teacher. I also hold various voliuntary projects and recruit other keen volounteers to provide community service, for instance I try to do annual homeless winter appeal where I with a group of volounteers would distribute food to the homeless in London via our fundraising campaign. My hope is to also establish a place of worship and a platform particularly for the worshippers and open doors to friendly locals to learn about the faith and it's practices. 1) What type of charity would be best to register? I'll be the main director/making and finalising arrangements and maybe another person if needed
Thank you for your comment. You might find that an unincorporated association will be suitable for what you have mentioned. You will need a constitution as your governing document (we are able to provide you with a small charity template if necessary). The advice would also be to set up a separate bank account for the charity once you have established your constitution and trustees. - Hope this is helpful. Blessings.
WHY ARE UK CHARITIES HOLDING £45 BILLION IN RESERVES???????? To keep charities in business or to pay charity leaders and staff enough to ensure they never need charity?????????
I would appreciate advice i am a disability support worker specialising in Autism for the community in brent we want to start disability charity? Love the video 📹
Similiar to the other point, however, if you wish to connect with other businesses (for example in my case with clothing brands) could you still do this with an unincorporated charity as I am slightly confused at the part where you stated with an unincorporated charity you couldn't sign things off? Furthermore, could (if there is a success) move on to be an ICO?
Hi Freddie, thanks for your question. Without understanding the fuller vision of what your organisation is trying to do, it's a little difficult to give specific direction. However, yes, an unincorporated association can transfer its assets and register a new CIO, but if this is the future direction, then it would make sense to register as a CIO from the offset as it gives trustees some form of limited liability and the charity will have it's own legal identity. Nevertheless, based on the (very) limited information you have provided in your question, I would ask whether you've considered a company limited by guarantee (i.e. the charitable company structure)? This may better suit what you plan to do (but again I do not know the full details of your endeavour). I hope my answer helps somewhat. Blessings
I need some advice please!!! Im starting up a charity dedicated to help the homeless. I have big plans for the charity to branch out to the hole of the uk. However Im unsure what type of charity to go down as maybe eventually I would be able to pay for staff depending how it goes in the future. I also eventually would want to pay myself a basic wage of a manager as im putting in 100% of my time and efforts into this by myself.
Hi Alanah, a CIO model or company limited by guarantee is likely to serve your needs long term. However, if you'd like more in depth support, I'd encourage you to contact our sister organisation LVC Trust via email: hello.lvctrust@gmail.com
Hi , thanks for the video Am trying to set up a charity here in the UK to help street children and widows overseas in conjunction , how Domingo about this
Hi Mowiththemost_ Thanks for your question. You'll first need to decide which charitable structure is right for your charity and then you can draw up a suitable governing document. If you'd like specific advice, please feel free to email us at info@puratrack.co.uk and/or book a video consultation. We'd be happy to help. Blessings
Can a foreign charity based in Ukraine have an agent or employee working in the UK, without that person being a registered charity? Or does that person (UK citizen) have to register separately here in the UK independently from the Ukraine based charity?
Not a legal organisation but the LVC Trust have a track record with getting charities registered. Email hello.lvctrust@gmail.com and let them know we recommended them.. they can help you 👍🏾 They are believers as well

Thanks for the video. I am trying to open a charity but not sure what a governing document is and don’t have any trustees. Could you help with this ? I would be super grateful. Thanks
Agreed. But this was also one of my first videos with the mic and didn't realise I was scratching it. People have still found it beneficial so I’ve left it up. There’s also subtitles for that reason.
Sorry about the audio. If you look at some of my comments you’ll see that I acknowledge that the audio is bad. However, people still find it beneficial so I’ve left it up. At the time I didn’t have time to re-record it.
Hi @Kirtan Rhymes, sorry for the late reply. Please email info@puratrack.co.uk and let us know what you are looking for/need assistance with. From there we can let you know if/how we can support you.
Sorry to hear the information was given too quickly for you. Perhaps it might be more useful on a slower playback speed? If not, we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. Blessings 🙂
Yes, sorry! Hopefully, I’ve slowed down since then but thank you for watching and glad it was somewhat helpful. 🙏🏾 (I also put subtitles on this video to help with that).
