I watched a video of yours explaining this technique about a month ago and I won a local tournament 2 weeks ago throwing a weightless 8” Junebug lizard!! 17.87lbs! 2nd place was 11.64lbs I believe.

I learned this technique as s boy from my dad in the 80's. Watched this video three weeks ago and relearned it. Had the hooks, Zoom lizards and 7' med. act. baitcasting outfit, spoolef with Trieline Big Game 12 pnd test with Polamor Knot. But I rig the lizard on w standard offset shank hook, then I rig it Texas style but it's rigged with a good kink behind the head. So the lizard looks like o have about a 60° bend. Cast to shallow cover during spring and summer and slowly twitch three times, pause then two times, pause. Repeat. Keep bait mo more than 1 foot under surface too the surface itself.

What rod set up would you use here? Baitcaster or spinning and what length? I’ve got a ton of lizards and this technique would be nice for me to use.

Once when I was a kid I tried every lure in dad's box trying to catch some bass I could see in a little pond. They wouldn't touch anything, plastic lizards included. Then I put a live Cuban anole lizard (very common invasive critters in Florida) on a hook and the second it hit the water and wiggled ,all the fish went for it and I caught one. It was immidiate. Another time the same thing happened with a live dragonfly. Both times were in shallow water. If you could get a soft plastic lizard to swim like a real one on the surface it should be good.

The lawn mower/leaf blower is a far cry from the crotch rockets and dump trucks lol

I love this technique it’s similar to the weightless fluke I just wish they had a little heavier of a floating plastic. Mainly because I can do this same thing but with a heavier bait like the senko

Hi Randy. First love your channel. Just came stumbled across this ch. After I've About watched all your videos on intuitive angling. Crazy. Im from Kalamazoo Michigan. Wondering if the lizard would work up in my neck of woods. I don't see too many of these creatures. Im just getting into fishing. First year actually buying a license as an adult. And Im 47. Thanks for your time and knowledge and look forward to more content. In the future!!!!

Hi buddy, I'm 47 years old and I'm from Connecticut, yes lizards work up north just as good as in the south bcuz I've lived in Georgia for 15 years. I've been bass fishing for 44 years. My dad taught me a better setup than this.. I watched another of Randy's pods a couple of weeks ago and I relearned it, my Dad showed me back in the day, I forgot about. Pretty much a walk the dog lizard for spring and summer. Using a 7' med. act. baitcaster, 12 to 20 lb. Mono., regular gap 3/0 off set R bend hook and 8" Zoom lizard Watermelon, Green pumpkin, black color. Rig it with a roughly 60° bend behind the head of it. Fish it from the surface to no more than a foot under, your retrieve should be twitch 3 times -pause-twitch two times pause repeat. It will have a nice back and forth walk the dog action. You will have to experiment a little to get your desired cadence. The 6' Zoom lizard will work but it's a little harder to cast and get that nice walk the dog cadence. Dead calm with high bluebird ski around shallow cover. When they want it, you'll destroy them. Save this one for yourself or young kids. I started professional bass fishing when I was 19. I ended up being building computer rooms and a operable wall technician, my trade fell under carpentry in the Carp. Union Local 23, CT. Journeyman Carpenter, retired. All I do is bass fish also I do research and development on a number of bass fishing baits I design and build, I'm also going to start advertising to take people on guided bass fishing trips, full day and half day trips.
I also build Flipping Jigs, Football Jigs and I wire tie them. Also Bucktail Jigs, Crawfish, Shad, Shiner, Blue Back Hearing, Baby Bluegill, Baby Bass
I build a specificly sourced Buzzbaits, 50 gauge wire, oxbow bend, planner head, hand tied skirt.
I'm in the beginning stages of developing a Custom Glide Bait, brush tail, count down sinking, custom airbrushed realistic design, on retrieve you can chop or swim retrieve.
Want to start developing a 7 inch, two segment gargantuan
Custom Wake Bait, brush tail, two segment body, custom paint realistic design, floating, study retrieve, slow or stop and go

There are actually no lizards that live in water in the U.S. There are salamanders, like mud-puppies, but most lakes have no salamanders.

Backwater river Oxbow lakes. These weightless Lizards kill it. Bit those sometimes nothing works. Done lot of it. Looks like Lizard water dogs.
