Sandy soils are in the USA, Canada, Turkey, the EU too. It has NOTHING to do with the sand but everything to do with soil fertility. People have been quite successful growing plants in sands, Sandy soils for thousands of years. Depleting soils is one reason the nutritional value of food has dropped, sometimes by up to 80%. Rejuvenate the soils, bring back the microbiology, the bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms and the plants grow. Soil is rapidly being depleted in ALL "western" farming areas. The use of chemical SALTS otherwise known as chemical fertilizer, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides are causing soils to become dead dirt's, sands, where nothing can grow well.

If the people in the African countries are given knowledge about soil fertility, building biodiversity in the soils, then avoid ALL chemical inputs, restoring the soils, then they can get to regenerative agriculture, agro-forestry, diversified crops. Important points are that this doesn't cost much, in fact it can be done extremely cheaply using local ingredients. First, stop burning off crop residue, second, learn how to build soil biology using simple materials to create compost. Use the compost with water to "feed" the soils. It's not a difficult thing to do. Second, STOP buying patented seed. Use native plants, bushes, trees and create agro-forestry, diversified crops, regenerative agriculture.
Countries that produce products emit carbons. Africa exports raw materials and imports finished goods… the emissions are then produced in the manufacturing countries. If Africa did more manufacturing.. their carbon usage would go up also. The only way to reduce carbon emissions is to reduce world wide products. There are 7B people on the planet… they all want food, electricity, cars, houses, computers, etc. etc. who will stop using products? If demand for products go down countries that produce them will reduce production and emissions will go down. No one will use less electricity… everyone wants MORE electricity. That’s what the issue is on carbon emissions. And no one owes money because they are producing products that everyone wants and buys. Everyone benefits from getting those products… including food for 7B people.

Flogging a dead horse. North Africa has changed from vegetation to sand over the past few thousand years; nothing whatsoever to do with fossil fuel burning. The world's weather changes. Planting a few trees is always a good idea. The simple answer is for a region of land to have an optimum population. The maximum being the number that can be supported under the worst conditions. That's all there is to it. When you see thousands of people in what looks like a desert, you have to ask why are they there. Europe is saturated with people too. It can't support its population. Migration to Europe will not solve any problems. COP 27, a complete and utter waste of time, yet again.
Desertification has absolutely everything to do with both fossil fuel production and "western" agricultural practices. Mono-cropping, using fertilizer (chemical SALTS) , herbicides (killing off native insect species, including pollinators), fungicides (destroying fungi in the soils) and pesticides (altering the neurological pathways in animals, insects and humans) . Western farming has depleted the soils, so teaching people in African countries has done exactly the same thing.

Africa had an OVER POPULATION PROBLEM MORE LAND IS BEING TAKEN FROM ANIMALS CAUSING THEM TO BECOME ENDANGERED.
SO lets please ADDRESS HUMAN OVERPOPULATION.
Overpopulation is never mentioned in these videos why ?
Because these corrupt politicians can squeeze a lot more money out of the west if it's to combat climate change vs handing out free condoms. If they really wanted to combat climate change, they would fund free vasectomy clinics.
Believing that CO2 is the global control knob for climate is like a drunk searching for his keys under the streetlamp because that's where the light is. Africa needs Infrastructure development including power production. Not handouts that end up in cynical political pockets.
Just how gullible are you anyway? 98% of all climate scientists are saying the same thing, but instead you believe the 2% the oil companies pay $$ to so they will lie to you.
And you're probably the type that would also take their money and lie for them. Indeed, that's probably what you're doing here. Except they pay you in peanuts, because really that's all disingenuous people are worth.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 found your keys yet?
I don't buy this claim that climate change is behind what is happening in Tanganyika, there will be other factors. More spurious connections from the likes of DW I suspect.
Who is paying for the thousands of tons of methane gas pollution from the 2 pipelines damages on purpose by G7 countries in the Baltic sea, that gas is in the northern hemisphere jet stream for the next 8 years causing weather damage for other countries.??
America should pay for it seeing how they blew it up
Its a Russian pipeline its their mess to clean up
Nobody
How we know it really happened?
To my mind most likely Russia opened the pipeline (But I don't know it for sure). And Russia attacking Ukraine is also the reason why the world cannot come together and solve the climate issue but also has other issues to solve. Plus this whole war is extremely bad for the environment.
But please tell me why do you think the G7 opened the pipeline. Nobody has proof who did it. So please don't accuse random countries.

Let Europe talk about their dying population first before talking about Africa, DW
What I don’t understand is if Africa knew that climate change was growing and was going to affected it the most why did its government not put policies in place to help them better prepare themselves for such a Time as this?
Climate Change funds are available and are being accessed by most countries impacted by extreme events and climate change. Unfortunately, these accessed funds are misused, on funding consultants, hiring hotels for conferences, travelling, and financing the so called climate change activists. That way, impacts of climate change on agriculture and other sectors will never ever solved.
Who told this people that Africa needs help when china is facing drought and almost all of the entire London has entered into drought, we don't want their aid, because it comes with a hook inside.
Maybe they should move to where the ground is not SAND! Plus, they need to help themselves. Why do other countries have to foot the bill for THEIR problems?
You mean problems that we have due to pollution caused by industrialised countries? Makes perfect sense.
@@irvinmcb .. you'll be glad to hear that China is now building hundreds of coal fired power plants across Africa, so now African countries can now contribute to climate change.
Absolutely right
The climate has and always will change.
Why aren’t they talking about
Deforestation/Improving greenery
Population control.
I’m sorry but other counties have raised hundreds and thousands for countries like Afrika, including the uk that has a yearly fund raising event. The government is responsible to making sure there are things to keep the homes safe. There made to live in small hovels whole family’s. The government has marble flooring and nice buildings and leave there people to suffer. Charities provide watering holes ect and make sure malnourished babies have food and give vaccines for viruses basically gone in the western hemesphere. I’m sorry but there’s a point we can’t keep giving. The government needs to trump up and pay there way. Due to the current crisis and Covid we’re all suffering the poor are getting poorer and starving in prosperous counties. We need to spend money on our own countries and stop giving it out to others right now. There are plenty of things that can be done that don’t cost. In the uk we’re working with farmers to bring back wild hedgerows and flower fields to help the wildlife. Re wilding verges for natural habitats. Reintroducing water voles ect. And allot of people are growing there own fruit and veg.
Thank God for the white man who is always showing Africa the right things to do in life and their support...we thank the European for their support to Africans
Africa continent has not done anything that changes the climate and they should be left out of any contributions
The rich countries have ample amounts of money to PLAY War games firing missiles and the likes around Japan and South Korea with no thought to environmental damages caused and no measure to their own added carbon footprint effecting other countries.
Thats true, and climate change is the most existential crisis humanity has ever faced. At the same time, geopolitical considerations should not be ignored either. If we don't react to shows of force by countries like North Korea and Russia.. that is going to create even more problems.
Uh. North Korea is firing missiles., they are poor. I wish I had a penny for every idiotic post I read.
That's all N. Korea, *not* S. Korea and Japan. N. Korea has been doing things like shooting missiles over Japan and shooting missiles into the buffer zone between them and S. Korea.
I feel I must say that your attempt at wording it to make it seem the victims of N. Korean nuclear aggression are somehow to blame, is rather kind of sad though.

Catastrophic climate change could be a planetary blessing in disguise if it serves to unite us to cooperate at the species level; this would be for the first time throughout the entire human journey.
Won’t happen till it starts to majorly mess with the lives of the Europeans up north. As soon as one blue eyed blonde woman takes the room temperature challenge she will be martyred and the Europeans will champion her and beat the rest of us over the head with her memory until we capitulate and cut the 10% of C02we produce to 0%.

Guyana start to flaring gass too .its very bad whats going on in out beautiful world
Easier said than done but doable for developed n developing world beginning with plant trees, native grasses and shrubs, fruit trees, and stop deforestation. This helps to prevent erosion, helps water recharge, keeps cool temperature, provides shade and food for humans n animals revitalizing the environment. There is much people can do, it just requires inspiration and hard work, and the help will follow.
Instead of spending all day breeding, plant some trees!
She's eloquent and brilliant. All sh said was brilliantly said.
Thank you 🥰
Countries that produce products emit carbons.
Everyone in Europe is struggling no one is going to give money money money

The weather has always changed , look back into history, some parts of the world may become inhabitable...
Yes it has. And most of the history wide areas around the world were inhabitable.
However, right now it is being changed directly and at an extreme speed. So it is indeed the responsibility of our technology today.
@@MetallicReg No speedier than in the past, You had rapid changes in climate. There has been a

@@AQuietNight that is factually wrong.
If we exclude asteroids and super vulcanic activity - this is the fastest and strongest climate shift in history. And one of the fastest species extinctions events.
@@MetallicReg You had species loss of 90-95% in the past. In areas of the planet where

What if all of Africa have a 0.1-1.1 fertility rate and a birthrate of 0.13 per 1,000 women these past 77 years?
What would the consequences be if this was real life not fantasy?

Simple answer NOTHING
In the end when trillions of dollars or euros are needed, they're just printed. There simply hasn't been enough climate impacts on the G7 to motivate those measures.
To be fair our country is actually trying to do something to fix the climate issue, they planted a green bridge to restrict the advancing of the Sahara towards the northern part of the country and are even trying agriculture in desert and funding investments there, the thing is, this is a global crisis so efforts are going to a waste, the desert is still climbing to the north because of the draught and sand winds. the heat waves are becoming longer that instead of having 4 seasons we no are pretty much only having two: very long hot dry summer and short dry winter. rain is becoming a bless day to day.
This was all caused by the intrinsic greed of capitalism.
