For people who are not familiar with this particular art form, in order to perform this , one needs a great deal of strength, power, athleticism, and stamina . The person who handles the lion head needs a great deal of upper body power to handle the " lion head" . The person who is the body also needs a great deal of strength to be able to bent over for a prolonged period of time during the entire performance.
I did my first performance yesterday. It's was about 15 minutes but mostly running outside the factory. Right after finishing, I couldn't breathe for 15 minutes, too shy to ask for water, almost fainted. I now cannot bend over and my waist is killing me
There’s something real magical about the lions that STAYED LIONS even when their specific performance was finished and they were sitting down in the back. They’re still grooming themselves or following the other lions’ movements with the heads and snapping their jaws. It’s so so sweet
The baby lion was so adorable. I’m sure they’re going to do extremely year after year. Keep up the amazing work boys. To everyone, Gong Xi Fa Chai and thanks for entertaining me in Queensland Australia 🧧❤
The most beautiful golden Dragon I have seen and the Lion they are so colorful and beautiful .....and this Han people need to stop wearing Qipao where the Manchu have banned them wearing their own Hanfu costume and I guess they are ignorance about their own history ..Revive Hanfu and wearing their own traditional costume not Qipao ...shame on them where in China the young Han chinese are wearing it to promote their own identity in China why not all Han chinese who are living outside of china to recognize their own identity as Han people wearing their own elegant and beautiful Hanfu costume ...Think about this the Korean and Japanese are proud of their own identity wearing their own Hanbok and Kimono and why not the Han chinese ...
The Chinese in China also wear qipao's, fyi. To them, qipao and hanfu are traditional clothing, the history behind those two outfits does not really matter anymore. Even to Chinese people all around the world (like these performers who are Malaysian Chinese), we really don't care. And I don't hear any of us call ourselves "Han people" tbh, we're just Chinese. So even if you feel like the Chinese people now are "ignorant to their own history", as long as you're not Chinese, your opinions really don't matter to us. It's just traditional clothing, it ain't that deep.
@@huihui_1111 I guess after almost 300 years of Manchu ruling that have banned the Hanfu costume from the Han people but not others ethnic why do you think Han people do not have their own costume ...
@@areebachewa8318 so? They don't care anymore?? If they did, they would be making a big fuss about it on douyin, weibo and other Chinese media. China is focused on advancing their technology, I'm pretty sure the history of hanfu or qipao are trivial matters to them. Also, based on your comment, you're saying a person's ethnicity is based on their knowledge of their history rather than their skin colour or experiences? And saying an entire group is "not really chinese" because YOU think their ethnicity should be based on their history sounds kinda racist to me. I cared enough to comment because I am Malaysian Chinese, and I'm pretty confident that I more about my own culture and people's opinions more than you 💀

13:40 I was hella afraid of these things back then and there was a LOT of them in Kuching especially during CNY (probably because the drum was easier than normal lion dance), but now i like them, they're called Hakka lions btw
