Not only are Esp, Cro and Ita in the FIFA top 10 , they were in the best in the last League of Nations competition. At one time, they were in the Euro group, when Esp and Ita were in the final, and Cro was eliminated after conceding a goal in the 95th minute of the last game against Esp.
Today, all three of those results would pass.
Of course, Albania is also asked, they also have their chances.

Scotland
1st, Croatia conceded in the 88th minute against Spain during the 2021 group stage. 2nd, though some of the main Croatian players remain from 2012, both Spain and Italy have changed generations, so I doubt the relevance of mentioning that past group to predict this one.
Personally, I think Italy must be the most worried of the 4 about its chances of finishing bottom. Though Croatia are also in a though spot, I'm sure their experience will make them qualify. As for Albania, they maybe are the underdog, but don't have ANYTHING to envy to their 3 opponents.
The two dark horses in this tournament are Germany and Italy. Italy thrive as underdogs and Germany are always contenders. I think the last time both Germany and Italy were written off in a major competition was WC 2006. If I recall, the pundits called Germany's squad too young and inexperienced, while Italy had calciopoli scandal. Germany ended up coming in 3rd place and Italy won the whole thing.
Croatia - Spain result is huge in first game, Italy will likely still get win against Albania (If they dont they are f.cked, but that is their first game, easiest on paper and its not bad team either). Croatia btw has a better record in WC than euros.
Croatia has a great record in the euros when it comes to getting out of the group. Its the knockout stages that are shaky.

Italy had world class players in 2006 who finally hit gold...del piero, totti, Luca Tony, cannavaro and gattuso. This Italian team is young and unknown...the Italian team that won Euro 2021 had experience and the coach managed to harness a uncharacteristic attacking mentally for that Italian team

Right, Italy have been in the toughest group also in 2008, 2012 (when only group winners and runners up qualified) as well as 2016 and qualified on all occasions even though they were unfancied before any of these competitions. And there is now the possibility of qualifying as 3rd team too.
Enough of the alarmism please. Spain-Italy and Croatia-Italy are two great matches to look forward to, even though the former has become very repetitive. If you don't enjoy football at least let people who do enjoy those match-ups. Not everyone is like England needing the easiest of draws to improve the odds of not coming home empty handed yet again.

France, England, Portugal and Spain are the best teams in Europe. But you know that in a game like football, and especially because there isn't a HUGE gap in quality between the top teams, anything can happen. So when asked to predict what happens, we can go by what teams look in best form, but we can't really have any type of certainty France, like in every tournament since 2018, have been the or one of the two best teams, but anything can happen and fine margins make the difference. Just take euro 2020 where France only was ousted by penalties and Italy won Euros by winning in penalties in semis and final. And in 2022 World Cup, Argentina won 2 of their knockout stages via penalties

Don't know if Italy is cooked or England has the easiest Group, but one thing is for sure: England will win, until... they won't. Like always. I say France or Portugal ftw.

The last Hungary - Germany match was 1-0 for Hungary.
With 3 teams qualifying from the groups in 4 out of 6 groups then I don't think anyone can be discounted from that.
Group A
Germany - Rubbish by their standards in recent years but with their history of winning they can always be dangerous if they can find some momentum with the home crowd. If they look decent in the group then look out. I could see them either bombing out or winning.
Switzerland - Always underestimated. Consistently qualify and often give bigger countries a fright after that.
Scotland - Strength is their midfield and left side. Will be well-supported and will give everything. Can upset big countries on their day and are much improved.
Hungary - Another much-improved country with more of their players playing at a higher level than years previously. Their game with Germany will be like a derby (as will the Swiss-German game).
Group B (the toughest)
Italy - Defending champions. Like Germany, could either bomb out early or go all the way.
Spain - Will have more possession in every match they play. If Morata scores goals they are a danger.
Croatia - Creaking but consistently go very far.
Albania - Huge underdogs but will relish the challenge and might just upset someone. Not sure if they've qualified before.
Group C
Slovenia - Mid-level side. Good goalkeeper. Good striker.
Serbia - Jekyll and Hyde side. Some great talent.
Denmark - Very dangerous side with a point to prove. Always a team rather than a set of individuals.
England - Wide array of talent in most positions. If they can cope with the inevitable hype that will start should they start well and keep their heads later so that they take their chances then they are overdue winning something and have been close recently. Biggest battle is overcoming negativity and entitlement of many of their fans versus the hype of the rest of them and trying to find some degree of measure between those two extremes.
Group D
Netherlands - Very talented but lack a striker of the class they once had.
Austria - Underestimated side. Pretty strong around the pitch.
France - Should be favourites. Strongest pool of talent in Europe and the best individual player. Should be keen to add the trophy after the WC loss.
Play-off winner A - Whoever it is will be underdogs.
Group E
Belgium - Somewhat between generations. They have some youth talent and rest of them are 30+. They do have some individual talent though and it'll be the last chance to win something for a lot of them.
Slovakia - Another mid-level European team. Lost Hamsik last year as well as a few more veterans in recent years so somewhat unknown to me.
Romania - Have been in the doldrums for a long time. (Were once one of the better teams in Europe). Should relish being back on the big stage. I'd put them ahead of Slovakia.
Play-off winner B - Whoever comes through will likely have a chance of going through.
Group F
Turkey - Good qualifying campaign. Starting to get players at bigger European clubs. Always a bit of an unknown.
Portugal - Could go all the way if they can be cohesive with all their talent.
Czech Rep - I see them as another mid-level European team. Schick was in great form a couple of years ago. Not so sure now.
Play-off winner C - Underdogs on paper but the Greeks could spring a surprise if it's them.
I think France deserve to be clear favourites. Then I'd have Portugal. Then Spain and England together. Germany and Italy are the unknowns because they could either not perform at all or (typically) quietly stay in the tournament and get stronger through the rounds. Many countries could learn from how they quietly go about their business rather than trying to win the pre-tournament hype battle. Germany, especially, will be interesting to watch. They've got Scotland who are much improved and then two derby matches against teams with previous against them. If they come through that then look out. Outside that, if the Dutch striker hits form they'll always create chances. Belgium deserve a mention too.
Wouldn’t bet on Spain having the most possession in every game, especially against Croatia. A team almost exactly as Spain when it comes to play style. Both are extremely good at keeping the ball and love that possession. So…proven so many times and Croatia is known by that. Look at what they did to Brazil (the best possession team in the world) they drove them crazy while keeping that ball. Getting the ball of Modric? Yea good luck with that 😂
Seriously would be shocked if Germany win that group. They are dreadful if anyone wants an easy win go play Germany. France way ahead of everyone else just give them the trophy now.
France is not way ahead of England, they tend to bottle it.
Germany just changed coach and obviously he had to test some things (he even tested Havertz as LB) + these were just friendlies, nobody wants to get injured in meaningless games (especially not Bayern players who already had a long list of injured players at that point). These games say nothing. You can't even know what the German lineups will look like or how they will play... To say that everyone should be happy to play against them is nonsense.

People seem to have forgotten that Germany and Spain both had the same number of points in the group stage (4) and both only lost one single game: both against Japan. Both were equally good in the game when they played each other and it deservedly ended 1-1.
3 months ago Germany even beat France. The last two defeats mean nothing because, as I said, there was a lot of testing. That's what test games and friendlies are for... But okay, I hope that the opponents will think the same as you and underestimate Germany. This will only make things easier for us 🙂

I am from Croatia and I think Spain is favorite for 1st place and Italy for 2nd in group. Italia is not impressive, but they are still Italia! Tournaments are not like qualifiers. Not sure what to expect from my team. We will see in what condition the players will be next June. Let's hope there won't be many injuries for all teams.

As a Dane i think the last team i wanted was England. And i agree Serbia is favorites to get the second spot cause we've been absolutely terrible since last Euros really but since the world cup we've been horrendous and there's nothing to suggest that'll change. We are due for a generation change.

Well according to group D Austria is the Dark horse in this group...their playing style against the ball is the most agressive one in that group...it is frankly no pleasure and not easy at all to play against them, but sure France is the undisputable favourite in this group..BUT Austria almost had beaten France in their last National League season and that 1:1 draw was extremely very lucky for France...the rematch in France was a clear 2-0 for France but the Austrians didn´t have all players on board in that game because of injuries but nevertheless they had some few top chances to score 1 or 2 goals as well. The same story was in that Euro qualifying against Belgium in the rematch = 6!! starting 11 Players were missing because of injuries and still Belgium won just lucky with just one shot from Lukaku from outside the box which fitted perfectly and gave the Goalie no chance to interfere and just that made the difference for winning the qualify group...a one in a million shot...and nevertheless allthough 6 keyplayers were missing the Austrians had their chances to score some goals in order to win that match as well.
I´ll put it that way : "No one expect Austria to be a real threat in that group and that is their advantage under the premiss their Squad is fit and all Starting 11 players are on board for the tournament"
Belgium were also missing key players...Also, Austria got a penalty and only scored a second goal because Belgium got a red card and ended with 10 players...Just saying. It had nothing to do with "luck". Belgium was clearly the better team before the red card.
Still, Austria are a pretty solid team, i can see them giving anyone trouble during the Euros.

And I know just 2 keyplayers missing in the Belgium squad = De Bruyne + Courtois and as good as those undisputable are those are not 6..= 2 regular offensive midfielder + 2 regular strikers + Alaba Austria´s Star player and head of the defence + the strong Posch from Bologna in the defence were missing = every line was just improvised in that match with players who never played together in that formations till that day, some even had their totally unexpected team debut with no experience at that level what´s so ever because some back up players beside the already mentioned 6 were missing as well .also just saying.
And in the first leg when all Austrian players were on board the Austrians were the better team at that 1:1 draw...also just saying.
But in all seriousness it is how it is. The Austrian squad is thin, and they need every single Starting 11 player in order to play a role in that tournament, that´s why I also wrote "under the premiss the Squad is fit and all Starting 11 players are on board"

Calling the Netherlands overrated seems mean spirited, they have been doing quite well for the fact that they havent gotten to play with a fully fit squad since the wc exit during the game they barely lost on penalties to the eventual winners of the tournament, besides defeats against France with heavily injured squads they have looked quite good.

what do mean nobody had germany as favorites in 1990? back in that time they were called perennial finalists (from early 70s through to the mid-90s): Euro-72 champs, WC-74 champs, Euro-76 finalists, Euro-80 champs, WC-82 finalists, WC-86 finalists, Euro-88 semi-finalists (beaten by eventual champs). in 1990 everybody called them favorites, like every single expert and non-expert.
I remember Euro 88 and it was obvious that Germany - West Germany at the time - were potential champions for 1990.
They were unlucky to lose that semifinal because of that ridiculous referee.

France only needed a couple of minutes and Holland only two chances.
