    Visited Nottingham for the first time the other day - have to say I was really quite taken with the city . . . And being the transit nerd I am, i rode the whole tram network.
    Very impressed with it! An excellent way to get around.

    Having grown up in Nottingham and now living in London it's surreal and unexpected to see you in my home city. I love it! It truly was a historic day when the long delayed tram service finally opened in the early 2000's. I was about 6 and felt like I'd been waiting forever at that point

    Rode the then-brand new tram once in the first week it opened back in 2004, just before we moved from Nottingham to Seattle. I remember it primarily for all the streets being dug up and the pain of trying to get around by car as a result -- but it it was lovely to see our old neighborhoods. Thank you for the ride, Geoff!

    Honestly when I move for uni I’m going to miss the tram so very much! The tram is a lovely mode of transport that I utilise to get to and from work and college. I also intentionally sit in the front to watch the driver drive! Lots of fun!

    What What What. You were in my city.
    Damn man.
    Also the tram is really useful. I really want another line to open up.
    Nottingham's got some great public transport already but I'd like to see if expand even more, mostly because I live in the countryside and the bus into the city is once every 30 minutes for most of the day then once an hour after 7pm.
    When I get into Nottingham, I generally grab the tram from Slab Square if I'm going to Warhammer World, or from the Theatre if I'm going to the climbing centre, where I'll get off at Beaconsfield Street. A proper day out, considering I normally spend a good 4-5 hours in the city plus the 50 mins it takes to get there and another 50 minutes back.
    I've never done all the stops though, never had the need to.
    Any case, awesome little feature and don't worry about videos going over 10 minutes, no need to rush through things if they take a bit longer than average, we'll still watch.

    Brings me back for when I lived in Nottingham. I remember the opening, the official day before their was a band from the high school playing and selected guests were invited to travel. The next day it was awesome riding in the tram. Then again I was still a kid, lol :)

    Good old Eskdale Drive - that's my local stop. North of Wilkinson Street the trams switch over to a beefier power supply to allow running up to 50mph on the longer stretches between stops. As the tram passes the back of the depot you can feel the moment it happens and they suddenly accelerate faster - particularly on the older trams. Further up it's single track & passing loops too.

    I'm from Rotterdam and used to live near Nottingham (I now live in Dundee). When the Nottingham trams were being planned, some people on the project went to Rotterdam and looked at the tram system there. The trams in Nottingham now look like a carbon copy of the trams in Rotterdam, including the same colour scheme. The name of the transport company in Rotterdam is RET and both logos are very similar as well. It was quite funny to see for me when I first started using the Nottingham trams...

    Having done Tramlink and NET, I'd love to see you do the Midland Metro....it started out so small for so long, yet now there are seemingly an endless number of new routes and extentions for it coming

    • @mittfh
      @mittfh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's still just one line, and given the slow progress at extending it beyond Snow Hill, it could be close to a decade before any other lines are fully open...

    • @yosolo5797
      @yosolo5797 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mittfh it is, but I'm pretty sure work has already begun on the line to Dudley and Merry Hill, and HS2 is definitely bringing a line to Digbeth, plus there is the Spur to Wolverhampton Railway Station that has long been standing at around 90% complete, but it waiting for the station itself to finish redevelopment before finishing up, and none of this is to mention the three extentions that have taken it far beyond Snow Hill
