As a heat fan i remember the exact moment Ray Allen hit that 3, the whole world really thought the spurs were going to win the chip that year, and once LeBron missed i remember the numbness i had up until Allen hit that 3, he really did save LeBron and Miami’s Big 3 legacy, obviously no knock on lebron because Lebron was the one who even put us in POSITION to have such a close game, but yeah till this day whenever i see that Ray Allen clip i get goosebumps

ray was the bigger saver, ray save tf outta Lebron. Lebron score 16 in first 5 min Start of the 4th yea but last 4 minutes of game Lebron flatout Choked, 2 back to back huge turnovers with like a minute LEFT and that terrible shit bron bricked before bosh grab REBOUND n assist to Ray Allen savior shit and Ray Allen actually traveled

Saving a legacy would mean he absolutely trashed out in each one of those games and got carried to a win. All that happen was that his teammates made key shots, like every teammate should try to do. LeBron showed up in each of those games and so did the rest of his team and that's why they won championships. If he was like 6/30 and had 14 points or something and they still won, then yea they saved his legacy, but we all know that didn't come close to happening.
Funny how the same people who say ray and kyrie "saved his legacy" are the same people who trash his very legacy for his 3-6 record, where's the logic in saying his legacy got saved when they clearly have no respect for it in the first place lmao.

As a Heat fan I feel that Ray not only saved LeBron's legacy but also the Heat's. They won 66 games, including 27 in a row which is the 2nd longest streak in history. Thy had superstars in Bron, who was the MVP, Wade, and a star in Bosh. They had great role players and/or shooters in Battier, Birdman, Lewis, Jones, Allen, Chalmers, and Miller. Having lost that year would mean the Heatles could only muster one title win despite all that talent. Ray Allen's shot literally changed the narrative in both LeBron's and the Heat's legacies. I still remember the game, LeBron bringing the Heat back before committing what were some frustrating turnovers to watch. Then the ropes come out, and you felt the hope in the building pop like a balloon. Then Manu misses a free throw, then Kawhi, and Duncan's not in the game with only a 3 point deficit and around 20 seconds remaining. "James, won't go. Rebound Bosh. Back out to Allen, his three-pointer, BANG! Tied game with 5 seconds remaining." (Side note Mike Breen's call on this play is just iconic)

I love your argument on why both are different in terms of LeBron's legacy:
Kyrie's shot was mutually beneficial to both him and LeBron because LeBron made the block that brought momentum back for the Cavs to win and Kyrie sealed it with his 3 over Curry. So, in this case, it furthered LeBron's legacy and etched Kyrie's name in NBA history
Ray Allen's shot saved LeBron's legacy not because LeBron didn't show up because he did with 16 in the 4th and the 3 during the Heat's previous possession to cut the lead to 2 but because LeBron and the Heat still had a lot to prove and if Ray misses that shot, there's no OT, no Game 7 or no 37 point performance by LeBron in that Game 7.
Simply put: Kyrie's shot FURTHERED LeBron's legacy because it was assisted by LeBron's iconic block and LeBron was the clear leader on a team effort on their 3-1 comeback; Ray Allen's shot SAVED LeBron's legacy because of the circumstances of that Game 6 and the stakes on the line and NOT BECAUSE LEBRON DIDN'T SHOW UP (REMEMBER HE HAD 16 POINTS IN THE 4TH QUARTER WHEN MIAMI WAS DOWN AND HE HIT THE 3 TO BRING THEM WITHIN 2).

Let's say they lost hypothetically. How many rings does he have to his legacy? Even if they hypothetically lost in Miami he's still got three rings. Skip that's ur hook to get clicks. he ain't done nothing else besides hate on LeBron. Statistically double in the clutch. And as if Miami gets to the finals without LeBron anyways.

Ray Allen definitely saved him in that series because they were down 3-2 and if Ray misses that shot it’s game over.
In Kyrie’s case I’m gonna say he didn’t save Bron but he helped a lot. That was a game 7 that could have went either way. It was 89-89 before Kyrie hit the shot. But if Kyrie misses that shot the game would still be tied so it could be anyone’s game to win.

Jose Rivas If the Heat lost in game 6, everything Lebron did would be an afterthought. For example, consider Tim Duncan’s shot against the Lakers in 2004 that would’ve won the game if not for Fisher’s 0.4 shot. Anytime you even bring up Duncan’s shot, people immediately think of Fisher’s shot that actually won the game. Lebron’s efforts and Duncan’s shot would be thought of the same way. Incredible, but not enough

To add on about Paxson and Kerr, in both situations MJ drove into the paint to draw multiple defenders on him to create an opening for both of them to take the shot. As for Lebron, he commited 2 turnovers in the final minute, missed the 3 himself and played no part in Bosh grabbing the offensive rebound and Ray Allen hitting that difficult step back 3. So yeah MJ's scenarios are nothing like Lebron's and Ray Allen indeed saved Lebron's legacy

We do now only because they ended up winning that championship. For 2016 vs the Warriors? No. But it did show his character. He’s not on MJ’s level of a killer or having that competitive edge. That’s just who he is. And he gets way too much credit for that series.
Ray Allen’s shot? It’s a little different. LeBron did play well in that crucial game 6....up until the final moments leading up to that. I’m pretty sure he had some bad turnovers and missed a shot before the Ray Allen 3. It would’ve looked real bad if the heat lost that series. There wasn’t any time left on the clock. If LeBron HAD to step up, it should’ve been right there. And let’s not forget Greg Popvich’s uncaharcteristic stupid move where he subbed out Tim Duncan. Just pointing that out because a lot of “luck” had to happen in order for the Heat to even make it out of there alive. LeBron was looking a little suspect near the end of regulation but that’s pretty much it.

He led both teams in points assists rebounds steals and blocks (1st time ever for anyone in any playoff series length) while coming back from 3-1 deficit against 73 win team. That type of performance when combined with the context it was in was all-time great finals material.

Evan Fabio The one thing that bothers me about 2016 is how unfair fans evaluate that finals and 2015. “Oh LeBron lost 2015 because of injuries” (which is mostly true)
But no one talks about how beat up the Warriors were going into that series. People make it sound like LeBron went in there and defeated them healthy and at the peak of their powers. Curry clearly rushed himself back too quickly, Iggy looked like a walking mummy, Draymond missed a game, and Bogut blew his knee out. Your 6th man and 3 starters either missed a game or weren’t 100%.
If LeBron gets a pass for 2015, the Warriors should get some slack for 2016. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edgar Gordillo Kyrie and Love are not equivalent to Iggy and Bogut. Not even close. Kyrie played 1 game in that 2015 series after being in and out of the lineup throughout the playoffs and Love was gone since the first round. So LeBron even getting them to the finals was a big deal.
Steph wasn’t “hurt” when he screaming “IM BACK! IM FUCKING BACK!” against Portland but when Russ and later Kyrie are working him he’s “injured”. That’s bullshit.
Draymond missed a game on his on doing. He should’ve been suspended for kicking Steven Adams in the nuts so much...

For those of you comparing the Steve Kerr free throw open jumper to Ray Allens 3point shot with a hand in his face.
There is video footage of the bench where MJ is talking to Kerr during the timeout. MJ tells him "John is gonna come double team me so be ready.." and Steve replies "If he comes, I'll be ready.."
They go in, Stocton doubles, MJ makes the pass and Steve hits a free throw jumper. MJ was expecting it, they planned it and executed it.
Now, can you sit there and say that any part of the Hail Mary sequence of Allens shot was actually part of a "drawn out play" ?

@@20willsdude See I knew you would say that, was thinking about writing this in my first comment but decided to see if you would bite. Here is the "point": The point is, what happens before dosent matter, lebron could of scored 50 for all I cared, he bricked and choked the shot that he needed to make, and Ray Allen saved him. And no I dont say the same for Jordan because there was one more game to be played if Kerr dosent hit it, and knowing Jordan, I would bet my life he would man handle everybody in that game 7, because he lived for moments like those. But if that was game 7, then yes, kerr would have saved him, but only for that ring, not his legacy, BECAUSE HE STILL HAD 4 RINGS, AND WOULD BE 4-1 Ray Allen dosent hit that shot, and Lebron gets crucified. His so called "Super Team", managed to win 1 out of 3, and the 1 was against a bunch of young, 2nd or 3rd year players. Im not hating on him either, because I only feel this way about Ray Allen's shot, and dont think that Kyrie saved him, because they still had a chance to win it even if Kyrie dosent make it.

@@theflyingmonkey6454 you don't say that for jordan because there was one more game....... well there was one more quarter to be played. missing a shot doesn't mean you choked. he brought his team out of a deficit to begin with. we've seen him been clutch in more than enough situations even before that game and you want to say he choked? they went to overtime and a game 7...... he dominated, they won, but but but but Ray Allen shot saved man shut up. he won

Right? Shaq Chuck and Kenny all said that you need at least two All Stars to win the finals and when he left Cleveland they went from having one of the best records to winning only 20 games. & Ray Allen Saved brons legacy? Let's say they lost hypothetically. How many rings does he have to his legacy? Even if they hypothetically lost in Miami he's still got three rings. Skip that's ur hook to get clicks. he ain't done nothing else besides hate on LeBron. Statistically double in the clutch. And as if Miami gets to the finals without LeBron anyways.
