My dad is a loco pilot in railways and he has always told me the cases of robbery these slum ppl do no matter what rekigion they follow, the linemen,railway staff, LP and ALP have always been the foremost target of these corner houses built near the line, i can't tell you how mercilessly they murder the staff members targeted, these people create hurdle on the lines, making heroic videos with the train approaching nearby and it causes chargesheet to the driver and staff on the train. And most importantly if the area belong to the railways they're gonna take it back and it's not the first time they notified these slum ppl about the demolition.

It is due to mindset of people of uk who are less bothered about such settlements, all they care about settling outside their own state. It is easy to blame any government for them but the actual fault lies within them. I live in Dehradun and believe you me, it is soon going to be next haldwani. Not only doon, but most of the mountain area. However, there is a role of past and present governments too which authorised such illegal settlements by completely neglecting ( which is happening all over uk right now ) and later after few years ask them to vacate. In both the scenarios, someone will suffer. It is no longer a Devbhoomi tbh.

Haldwani is the 2nd last stop on the route to Kathgodam. I have a few friends there and they suggested that it would be good for trade and tourism if the rail lines could be extended through Bhimtal to right up to Dronagiri and the Nanda Devi National Park.

Dronagiri is adjacent to the Nanda devi National Park and having a rail connection till Nanda Devi means a close proximity to the India-China border. On that route India has a road connectivity but for quick troop movements India requires the road along the Dhauliganga river to be supplemented by a rail line as well.

1-Congress govt who knows from the beginning of encroachment, but due to the vote bank didn't want to do anything
2-Railway authorities knows from the beginning but didn't take action as they were running under congress rule.
3- Nagar Nigam also knows what is happening, but they are enjoying bribes to keep things going on.
4- Drastic population plus Bangladeshi & Rohingyas infiltrators as gift.
5- People are very well aware of railway land but they know if a huge population will cover the land then nothing can stop them.
