This album never received the recognition it deserves. It's one of my favorite Purple albums. Absolutely excellent, and this concert is a great capture of it. Interesting that they started with Burn, and certainly drove it home. Saw Coverdale do it when DP toured for that album, and this take is hands-down better. Thank you for the post.

R you can put up Hughes Bolton and Coverdale up there... u can put Turner Blackmore and Glover, Rod Evans Simper and Blackmore , or Gillan Morse and Gillan..... as long as Paice is drummer , it’s Purple...... Actually Paice and Lord and Coverdale were also Whitesnake . So who knows ? They’re all legends
Without Gillan! Those songs done and originally created with him on vocals are definitely lacking in the original tone and power. However this concert is still superbly done by each member🌿.

Slaves and Masters was the First album that I've listened to Purple. After this one I've got Machine Head and In Rock. So I like this album and Joe Lynn Turner a lot. Great singer and very good vibes. Respect! 😁🤘🏻🥃🎸
I love Deep purple, Blackmore, JLT and this AWESOME album , another thing , JLT sang Coverdale songs and the crow appreciatted that since Gillan refused to do it , JLT ststed before the tour " We ( Deep Purple) belong to the fans, they pay the tickets and they deserve and expect the best , we are going to give them that", thats JLT extremely humble , down earth guy.

Wasn't expecting Joe to make the grade but he is actually terrific here. I think he really steps up. He doesn't try to be anybody else just does himself proud. Purple are great when Ritchie is happy and he is on fire here. Great gig.

King of Dreams, I didn't know it was such a cool song. In the performance of this day, Joe's singing very soulful with an emotional arrangement by dropping the tempo. I fell in love with it.
Excelent concert, I was there.. and I was at that time young!!! It was my 2nd "bigest" music show in my life ..when iron wall fall down 1st was Rolling Stones in 1990 Prague (Strahov), 2nd was this .. and 3rd was Pink Floyd in 1994 Prague (Strahov)...and next I'm lucky man!!! :-)
I've watched a lot of DP concerts uploaded in TH-cam but this one is very unique... I love it...I have fun watching it...long live rock and roll everyone...
JLT did a better job than i expected. Gotta give him props for his overall performance. Gillan is obviously the man for Purple, but JLT pulled it off rather well imo.

Now I can confront my memories with the real picture and sound and I must admit, Deep Purple with Joe Lynn Turner did a great job, and a great album too. I remember I bought it there (a Czech edition by Popron!) Purple, when they have a good day (and they had one in Ostrava) make magic on stage. Great show, beautiful memories. Coming from Katowice, Poland to Ostrava by train. It was cold like hell, but the show was so hot! Thanks again for posting this gem. ❤

I saw Mike Tramp at a gig in the UK about 5 years ago. He spoke honestly about the fact that Blackmore was tortured by the fact that he let Dio go and replaced him with GB, looking to take Rainbow to a more commercial market. Dio was class and the best Rainbow vocalist by far.
@@steves9889 He was in the band White Lion, I saw him play at the Diamond in Sutton, a very small club. He played an acoustic show, he was a lovely man and told some great stories. The one about Dio I always remember because he had nothing but love for him and he wasn't disrespectful of Blackmore, you knew he was telling the truth, no reason not too.
I love Ritchie, but I never understood how someone who has Ronnie James Dio as his singer would want anyone else. It’s always a mystery, not what it seems to be.
Ritchie’s biggest hindrance was ALWAYS himself. He always wanted something, worked hard to get it, then sabotaged it whenever he got it. More importantly, he was jealous of every singer that he ever performed with. Loved them at the beginning, then fell out with them over petter reasons.
Great job by Joe Lynn turner. Him and Ritchie belong together. From their days in Rainbow. And so many years later. They must get along ok. I don't remember Ritchie bringing back too many former singers.
Joe Lynn Turner is definitely my favorite Rainbow singer,no disrespect to Ronnie but I liked the shorter pop songs and so did Ritchie. This is a solid performance here. On Ronnie, Heaven And Hell the album came out at you like a thief in the night. It grabs you. Great vocals.

I met Joe at a small called the Dublin pub on long island, NY 2006 Ronnie James duo just passed and he did long live rock n roll as a tribute, he also signed a pic of him from hit Parader magazine from 1983 which he liked,I was with my beautiful women who I have been with since 2003,she is my heart and soul
thanks for this. This should probably be released. Might be a controversial thing to say, but if the 84 show was good enough for release then so is this. I'm not a JLT fan, but the band were playing fantastically on this tour.
I _am_ a Joe Lynn Turner supporter. He is my second favorite Rock singer, after Roger Daltrey. I initially did not know he was even in DP and when I eventually found out he was, I thought that he could not be comparable to Ian Gillan singing the MKII songs. I was wrong! The more that I listen to the JLT era Purple, the _more_ I like it.
JLT is at his best with ballads. In my opinion Gillan never was, until recently. Coverdale, on the other hand, always handled both the rockers and the softer material with grace.

@3:30 Rog! Learn the dang bass line and chord changes that Hughes played during the guitar solo on Burn! And @2:30 JLT contributes his own special lyrics, “can a knee you know I scared, jeebus no season bread, jeebus ella tell me lie, sill I ear... Burn! Genius work guys. Bravo.
I think Roger did an okay job playing it. I think he mistook the solo for the bridge section (hence the D key at the start). And the progression to C that he ignored at the 7th bar is, well, pretty much negligible, lol. JLT's lyrics were abysmal though.
Love conquers all. Fantastic performance. Turner at his best. I was waiting for this song, but was afraid to hear it. But it sounds live even better then on the album.
This is a really cool post! I Have seen some stuff from that tour but all has been pretty bad quality, this was actually suprisingly good :) And i must admit Joe lynn turner had a really good voice back then, such a shame he always looked and acted so corny,lol Appreciate the post!!

Out of the last 2 albums before this one and even the one after it this was surprisingly a great album.
Agree. Love Joe saw him do an acoustic set in a pub a few years ago. He can’t sing burn however. Love hurts and fortune teller .... great tracks.

This is just another version of Deep Purple. I think we should all be able to simply enjoy it for what it is instead of comparing it to everything else.

thanks for this. This should probably be released. Might be a controversial thing to say, but if the 84 show was good enough for release then so is this. I'm not a JLT fan, but the band were playing fantastically on this tour.

I _am_ a Joe Lynn Turner supporter. He is my second favorite Rock singer, after Roger Daltrey. I initially did not know he was even in DP and when I eventually found out he was, I thought that he could not be comparable to Ian Gillan singing the MKII songs. I was wrong! The more that I listen to the JLT era Purple, the _more_ I like it.

JLT is at his best with ballads. In my opinion Gillan never was, until recently. Coverdale, on the other hand, always handled both the rockers and the softer material with grace.

@3:30 Rog! Learn the dang bass line and chord changes that Hughes played during the guitar solo on Burn! And @2:30 JLT contributes his own special lyrics, “can a knee you know I scared, jeebus no season bread, jeebus ella tell me lie, sill I ear... Burn! Genius work guys. Bravo.
I think Roger did an okay job playing it. I think he mistook the solo for the bridge section (hence the D key at the start). And the progression to C that he ignored at the 7th bar is, well, pretty much negligible, lol.
JLT's lyrics were abysmal though.

This is a really cool post! I Have seen some stuff from that tour but all has been pretty bad quality, this was actually suprisingly good :) And i must admit Joe lynn turner had a really good voice back then, such a shame he always looked and acted so corny,lol Appreciate the post!!
The comment below was unfortunate, as Joe Lynn Turner is an excellent singer. You can not compare one singer to another. The styles may be different. What matters and what is the essence. The essence of good old rock and roll was preserved. The rest and rest.
