@@sebastianfontanez1081 Not just that, his faliure to truly save him, jason is sad, distraught at the exaistance of a still breathing joker, to the point of Jason abandoning nearly everything Batman tried to instill in him.

Naw what made me die inside was when he said that if Bruce had of been taken away from him that he would’ve killed Joker and also mentioned that Joker took himself away from Bruce.
Some small corrections: - The movie is based on Under the Hood (2005), not A Death in The Family. - Injustice Superman has killed Lois while she was pregnant, so they both lost their child.
Great video I loved how you pointed out that Jason wasn’t deranged but unleashed. It’s almost like the whole punisher and daredevil conflict about killing. They both sides think that they are right and the other side is lost.
The one thing about Punisher, Unlike what he claims to do it for, He essentially likes to kill and chose criminals on purpose. He doesnt do it for the weak, for an ideal or morals. He does it because he likes it. Killing criminals just makes it convenient enough to ignore the deed. He loved war, and when he couldnt continue doing it, He started a new one against bad guys just so he wouldnt need to think twice on who he is shooting.
It really is a masterpiece. Not only did Batman fail Jason, but he failed himself. I think it’s one of the best themes in the whole film. I also think that Jason’s monologue is one of the best ever, and is truly chilling. I rewatched it tonight which led me to this video, and your content is awesome.
Jason isn’t trying to get revenge on Batman. He says to Bruce that he forgives him. Jason is trying to prove that if Bruce would just kill the bad guys, it would save them a lot of trouble in the future
It really inspired me to write my own DC stories about Jason and made me want to learn more about Red Hood. Since seeing it he's become my favorite character in the DC universe. This film truly is a gem of the 21st century's comic book media
I can’t read this comic without hearing these voices. I can’t read Red Hood without hearing Jensen Ackles. This is my favorite Joker and Batman. I love Conroy and Hamill but Greenwood and DiMaggio are fantastic.
I can stress this enough on how good this movie is, but holy shit Jensen was amazing as Jason, absolutely phenomenal performance couldn't imagine anyone else doing it
Nothin like spending money on the digital version of death in the family then immediately regretting it because it’s just a 30 minute version of under the red hood told by Bruce at a dinner table with no interactive choices 😁👍
I know it sucked. They could’ve at least put the actual movie an option but no it’s just Batman telling Superman what happened for 20 minutes. But the Joker and Red Hood meetup in the Cafe was really good
I'd love to hear you talk about Joker and Batman. About how they hate eachother yet need eachother, how they seem like complete opposites yet are 2 sides of the same coin. Easily my favorite super hero super villian pairing out of any show.
I saw this movie around when I was 7 years old I’m almost 17 now. Honestly I don’t know why I enjoyed it so much at that age but I think with the mentality I have now I understand. And even though at 7 I wouldn’t be able to comprehend half the things you said in the video. But This essay I believe summarizes almost every reason I enjoyed it then and enjoy remembering it now. Red Hood is so cool, his voice actor in the film fit him so well. I hope Red Hood gets his own film and more attention but I hope they don’t screw up and give him a bad voice actor or actor and not give him an ugly suit.

When DC released masterpieces For the past 5 years their animated movies have been good but not masterpieces, they're just movies with very little dept, and the ones before tried to cram as much as possible and made it work
the only flaw in this film for me is how Ra's Al Ghul and Black Mask, men with tons of connections and assassins, hire the joker to distract batman/kill red hood. It makes no sense and also, how do a few joker goons get the drop on bats to separate him and jason for so long in the flashback? I get why Mask hires him bc Joker killed Robin, but the film doesnt even touch on that.
I like that Judd Winick improved the story in this film to fix a number of issues with the OG Under The Red Hood arc in the comics. I think more writers should do this.
When people ask me what’s the best batman movie I say this one and they r like what movie? They presume I would say dark knight but nah. Under the red hood is a masterpiece
This is still my favorite Batman movie to this day. Sure the Dark Knight trilogy is awesome and all but they dont have the same energy as Under the Red Hood. Also im a bit biased because Jason Todd's Red Hood is my favorite DC character, probably even more than Batman
I think this movie is ultimately a critique of Batman’s pacificism and inaction. It’s why why he lost Jason twice. It’s why the Joker is allowed to keep killing. It’s why Jason turns against him. It has more in common with a Greek tragedy than anything, given it’s a character’s flaw that makes them lose everything.
I totally agree with your opinions on this movie. It's great with how it explores Batman, why he does what he does in the way he does it. It also does a great job with how Jason puts Batman's methods into question (the ending debate/confrontation is phenominal).
Joker kills thousands Batman: "he needs to keep on living" Jason: "HE NEEDS TO DIE!!!" Batman is more cruel than any villain by keeping the joker alive.

This is a great, well made video on an underrated gem, but I have a couple small nitpicks. 1. This is a direct adaptation of the Under The Hood comic, so not necessarily based on Death In The Family (even though UTH is more or less a sequel to that) 2. Your Injustice comparison doesn't work that well considering that Superman lost both his wife *and* unborn son, compounded with the fact that it was by his own hand so I'd argue that's far worse than Batman's loss in this. Like I said though, great video, I'll definitely keep an eye out for future uploads.

True… except for the fact that killing somebody who murders innocent people is not the same as killing innocent people. The Joker deserves it. Bruce’s parents did not. So him killing the Joker wouldn’t make him evil, or just as bad as Joe Chill. In fact, it would make him the opposite of evil. He’d be putting an end to the same kind of evil that killed his parents. And no, not by becoming that evil, because as I explained, killing an evil person does not make you evil. It makes you a hero. But the film realizes this, and Batman’s reasoning for not killing the Joker isn’t because he doesn’t want to, or because it’s not right. Because it would be totally justified after everything the Joker has done in this film alone. But Batman doesn’t kill the Joker, or anybody because he’s terrified of himself. He’s scared that if he gets a feel for it, it’ll be just as easy as cracking his knuckles. And if it’s that easy to kill, who’s to say he won’t one day kill an innocent person on impulse like Joe Chill did? And then he wouldn’t be the hero anymore. He’d be one of the criminals he usually hunts down. But again, Batman doesn’t refuse to kill evil people because that in and of itself would be bad. It’s because he’s psychologically a mess, which is why he has a super strict code to keep himself in check. Because he knows deep down that he’s capable of so much worse, as does the Joker, which is why Joker gets off on messing with him so much. Not a bad video overall. And an amazing film like you said. Just felt like delving into that point you made. Jason is not unhinged. In fact, he’s more sane and logical than Bruce is. But even as somebody who morally disagrees with his no kill rule, I get his reasoning, which is why it isn’t black and white.
