  • James Clear, the writer, speaker, and master of productive habits, suggests that you focus on getting just 1% better each day. He calls this the Power of Tiny Gains. He says “If you get one percent better each day for one year, you'll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you're done.”
I try to live by the 1% each rule day, and push myself outside of my comfort zone to achieve my hopes & dreams. Everything I have pushed myself to achieve has forced me to expand my horizons and venture into uncharted territory.
When I start feeling uncomfortable, that's when I understand I'm in the growth zone. I am by no means saying that you should do "risky" or unhealthy things - but I think most of what is worth achieving will require that you feel that tiny bit of discomfort in the beginning.
This video was inspired while reviewing footage I took last year when my husband, my brothers and I hiked the Four Pass Loop in the Maroon Bells Wilderness in Colorado. As someone who does a lot of day hiking but lives in Texas, my experiences hiking out west have unfortunately been limited to short vacations and weekend trips.
This hike tested all of our physical and mental resolve as we overcame afternoon thunderstorms, altitude sickness, and a super fun rockslide covered in snow (disclaimer: it was not super fun).
This hike was Type 2 fun that invigorated me and made me realize how much I am capable of accomplishing. I hope you can take something from this message and apply it to your own journey towards personal growth.

You are brave. I do a lot of hiking in Texas but I would be too scared to hike in Colorado because of bears. I never want to see one ever. 😅 Thank you for putting out all the beautiful videos of your hikes.

Thank you for watching, I’m glad you enjoy my videos! 😄 I’m from Texas too so it did take me a few hikes to get used to it. I don’t worry about black bears, but am definitely more aware when we hike in grizzly country. Having bear spray and a bigger group will make you feel more comfortable.
