My FIL was a member at Spey Bay in his later years. I used to play golf with him quite a lot there and at Elgin GC. He was quite a guy and I miss him. Watching this video brings those memories back. Thanks for that.
I WANT TO PLAY SPEY BAY My mum's from Buckie, my childhood summers were spent up there, got a kids weekly ticket at Strathlene and played there from sun up to sun down. Not played anywhere else up there other than Cullen, want to plan a roadtrip next year for my 40th.
Once played Spey Bay in an open. The wind was howling ... proper howling. I went out in 28 and came back in 58. The course is almost 9 out and 9 back (there's a longish par 3 at the turn). Not many of us braved it that day 😂
I could watch your links videos all day long, there’s nowhere I’d rather play golf on a sunny day with some wind than a true links course. It’s magical! Swinging the best I’ve ever seen you swing Liam, fantastic tempo
I play at Epsom and it is an ‘inland’ links that was developed in 1899 from the formation of two nine hole corses on the natural lie of the nth downs, chalk, leading up to the race course. No bunkers, because it’s common land, just grassy knolls that were bomb craters!
Liam! Loving these videos as always, simple fun golf! It just like going out for a round with your mates! Is OMP going to come along on one of these trips? Miss him loads, and would love to see our Simon make a return! Keep em coming Liam! You should come over to Cheshire for a round at my home club Carden Park in Chester! 👍👍
A links course is defined as being on a strip of land that links the sea/beach to the land hence a links course.. Royal Lytham I believe is the only links course on the Open rota that you can’t see the sea but is still a traditional links course. Best channel on TH-cam. Would love a round with you and Mr Barlow
Trad links by the sea, buit on sand dunes with very little shaping of the original landsacpe other than to create greens and tees. Would love to play Speyside, it looks mint.
Another absolute brill vid from the Morcombe and Wise😂 of golf mates. This course is one I have to play, didn't know that it existed. Looking forward to the next episode of this series
I want to play Spey Bay. Liam, I wish you'd seen the old holes, some of which were covered by stones washed in during storms. But looking forward to the improvements.
Well done gents, I've just had a knee replacement and am out of action at the moment but you guys are keeping me motivated to do my physio and get back out with my golf mates.you definitely keep us going.thanks Golf mates .👍👍👍
Glad you guys enjoyed Spey Bay. You're right about being a proper links course. Played it last year and loved it. Scotland definitely brings out the golfer in you guys.
The brothers are planning to make the course reversable, so the way you played today was at Spey Bay. Next time reversed could be Yeps Yab. Great video guys and what a beautiful course.
My local course is the lovely Mullion GC. A cracking links. Not so long but, very much a test of a course. Love links courses. Once you're away from the tee you can putt from almost anywhere.
I want to play Speybay. (Glad to see you've corrected the spelling!) Links golf is a special game, Loving this new series around North-East Scotland! Haste ye back!
From what I understand, a links golf course was so named because it links the sea with the town, the golf course being in between. A traditional links uses the above definition fir a links, but is 9 out and 9 back.
My brothers and I play it every summer, we have a brother who lives in Buckie, we play most of the courses down the coastline, people are so friendly and it's a beautiful part of the world.!!
I want to play Spey bay. What a cracking traditional links and some very good golf from mr Barlow and mr Harrison. Love the hidden gems. Can’t wait for the review of Kinguissie as have played that one
I want to play Speyday. For about the 10th time, it's been part of the Banffshire Winter League all the time I've played in it. Speybay was a past qualifier for Junior Championships I was told.
I want to play Spey bay. Wonderful to watch two fabulous people play brilliant links land golf. Scotland is my favourite place for golf.
My FIL was a member at Spey Bay in his later years. I used to play golf with him quite a lot there and at Elgin GC. He was quite a guy and I miss him. Watching this video brings those memories back. Thanks for that.
Sorry for your loss
Lovely looking course, and Liam this is the best I've seen you play ...... very controlled ❤🏌️♀️⛳
