    You turned out to be 💯% correct, Dave. She was vastly healthier and feistier this time than last. Clearly you know whereof you speak. Thanks for explaining about phorid flies and nematodes. 👍

    Anyone who comments saying that what you were doing is wrong, I would bet all my money, they are not even close to being as experienced as you are with T's. They would be terrified to help their animals the way you are willing to do. They would simply kill them to end the problem, where as you act. You are one of the best my good man!

    • @goodcopbadcop9872
      @goodcopbadcop9872 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Weird, I have not seen any comments saying what he is doing is wrong. You know, we all can't just do what Dave does. His calm demeanor when working with his animals belies the fact that he is working with some very dangerous spiders that can attack you quicker than you can blink. Dave is an ultra-advanced keeper with skills most of us do not have. In fact, you could put him in a pub with all the other tarantula experts in the world who match his skills and knowledge and afford to buy them all a round or two. In this case I would have corrected the husbandry error and hoped for the best. If the tarantula continued to decline, then euthanizing it would be something I would absolutely do.

    Could you do a video on the different diseases and parasites that the spiders can get? Discussing them with show and tell would be valuable to clarify their differences and how to approach handling them. People tend to fuss as if they are taking care of a human baby that needs attention. Protocol and knowledge would be interesting and help us to maintain a methodical mindset and procedure about options. Thanks so much. I'm so glad the Singapore Blue is better. Good job.

      I experienced having mites on my Brachypelma emilia juvie, this spring! Luckily, I have an online friend, who is a friend of a real arachnologist at Copenhagen University.
      So I asked him, what to do. All I had to, was to get my critter in a barren, dry, plastic container. Then throw out her substrate, "nuke" the containts (water dish, little log, decorative stones) in a microwave, pour boiling water into the regular cage itself, and then drying it and leaving it into dry air for 2 days. THEN I put fresh potting soil AND the contents of the cage back in. (Water dish, little log, and decorative rocks). And then my sweet little critter got put back in!😊❤
      The mites came in via her worms, but now, nothing bad has entered her home.
      It WAS bad, though, when she was attacked by them! She was very slow and inactive. Both me and my wife could both see, that she didn't do well!😢
      But I am SO glad, that THIS creature crisis went well!😀👍🌟

    I remember in the last video you got a whole bunch of very odd and strange, sometimes rude comments from the comment section..... Why's it so hard for someone to understand that litteraly the only other option was for her to either suffer a tortuous death or be humanely dispatched? Clearly your efforts had a very positive impact, that can't be argued. I've always found it so strange when some rando on the internet casts their emotional bias towards an actual expert like yourself.

    Great Content as always.
    True Passion.
    She already feels much better!😂
    The Dry White Stuff looks like Eggs, or left Shells for me.
    Their Maggots are quite mobile, as one can see. She looked Bombed.
    Of course, unable to feed right there they crawl trough the Fur to the best Place..
    However. Cleaning, dry Keep, Ventilation, better Health will take care of these too. Wouldn't bother to much about it, as long as it's dry, it's death. Phorids need Moisture.
    Also she will be able to defend, clean herself better again soon. She looked so sick.
    Awesome Rescuemission with Success! ❤

I open her enclosure to mist and she will come out of her burrow, through to the end of the corkbark tube and threat pose at me! But the drama is well worth it at night when she sits out of the entrance, beautiful spider.

    I can asure you that water is the number 1 thing to go... as a nurse we came back for cleaning up wounds and other stuff with all kind of chemicals. A good wound cleaning starts with water... lots of water... rinse it. Even when there is an infection... rinsing with water is the start... And even maggots are being used for horrible infected wounds.... 😊

    @Spacecowboy867 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Dave, it was my video with the Nematodes. Should also mention that Phorid fly can pass nematodes to other tarantulas.
    This is done because an infected tarantula will regurgitate its food and that’s a perfect place for the fly to lay its eggs. Thus allowing the nematodes to host onto the larvae/fly which can then pass it to others.
    As keepers of tarantulas we can only act soon as and prevent. Keeping enclosures clean, notice an increase of flies, you’ll always have Phorid flies and Fungi Gnats flying around your room. We can only reduce with fly traps or I use carnivorous plants.
    Big thanks to Dave.

    Shame on Madam Singapore Blue for sayin' ' get your dirty hands off me!" LOL You've done a proper job Dr. Dave! Kudos. BTW, I worried about those urticating hairs when you were handling her. Didn't that bother you?

    I am a Hvac tech and have came across many big spiders in crawlspaces and I have no love for them. But that being said I have respect for them and people who love them.

    I haven't kept spiders so far, but if I ever do, I have learned so much from your videos! You're my first stop for learning about them, your knowledge is second to none. Well done on doing a fantastic job with this girl and refusing to go with the accepted wisdom of euthanasia.

    The life cycle of a parasite is the indicator for checking an animal after treatment.Phorid fly maggots hatch in a 24 hour time period and grow.So the 2-3 days to see resulted are okay.You could have used Neem oil on this check which should cleared everything up.
