So much good vibes overflowing in this video, I absolutely loved it. What a relaxing watch! My favorites: the caboose café, the BBQ restaurants, the riding footage and the well curated background music. I also appreciate how you give small local businesses some love. Much needed in these challenging times. This vid made me feel like I was there, that I came along this fun trip. Looking forward to the next part! Oh, and give your Meteor a pat on the tank for me. She did great! :)
I so appreciate your input, Gerald! Thanks! I'm glad you feel like the video made you feel like you were there. That's very important to me. I really work to make the viewer feel relaxed and "on the ride" with us. Also, some of the things I love watching, in other people's motovlogs from around the world, are actually the mundane things. The things that people FROM THAT AREA don't really look at because they're used to it. Products on store shelves... street signs... how people are dressed... the fronts of people's homes... the trees and plants on the sides of the road... what kind of vehicles people use to get around... These are the little things that are different from country to country - from culture to culture. I love seeing these little details and saying, "Okay, that's how THEY do that over there", or "That's what that looks like in that country". So, I try to show those things in my videos. Sharing little bits of culture. You do this very well in your videos and I appreciate it. 💙🙏🏼
Fun vid- You two are so adorable together. I love it nobody high-fives going into a car that’s for sure. 70 miles is nothing on a motorcycle. You have the best wife -so awesome she rides her own bike.
Again a fantastic road trip. Chuck, thanks so much for letting us join you. Your films are really a bright sunshine in these dark, cold times with so many bad news in the world. Thx, :)
So digging this! I love the ease of your rides - it’s how cruising should be. Topping it off, a married couple too! Agree with others also about good vibes. Will be looking forward to your next adventures.
Thanks for sharing, that was a great trip, well done! Really enjoyed the caboose cafe and the music store. Wow, that music store had off-name brands for really great prices, glad to see a store catering to the new musicians and lower prices. Chris was a very nice fellow, if I'm ever that way, I'll be sure to stop by that music store.
I used a Travel Guitar I bought from Sweetwater. I also have a Journey (made in Austin) guitar that packs even smaller. Just suggestions. I don’t have market share in either company. Guitars are a two edged sword at campsites. Music tastes vary widely with locale, and there are critics everywhere. I have enjoyed your content immensely.
Thank you, Dwight! Yes, I have looked at those travel guitars online. We have bought a few things from Sweetwater and we like them very much. I just wanted to work the process of buying a guitar into the Moto adventure! And those guys at the music store are so nice! Thanks again for watching, I appreciate you! 💙🙏🏻
When you said your destination was Happy Pines Summer School camp built 1941, I thought uh oh, this sounds like the intro to a Stephen King Novel... I'm relieved to see it didn't turn out that way. I'm vicariously enjoying these trips as it's too grey and cold for riding right now in the UK.
OMG, that's hillarious. Thanks for the vivid visual. Ya, this place was fun. It was a great trip all the way around. My wife's longest trip yet. Part two is coming in about a week or so. I'm so glad that you're enjoying them! 💙🙏🏼
I’m totally a BRB groupie. You two are amazing! Loving the videos, brother. Lyss did an awesome job taking the lead on the winding roads and not allowing her fear to take over. I probably would have folded. Lol. Sending you both some love! ❤️🙌🏼🙏🏼
Only halfway through this video, but am enjoying it immensely! Very informative, made even better by the wonderful mood you create. I'm impressed that your bikes both seemed to do well on the divided highway stretches I've seen so far. Well, reassured as much as impressed, since I've all but signed the papers to buy a Meteor 350 myself in the next few days. On the other hand, I remember riding my 1968 Honda 350 from Santa Barbara to Sonoma County in a single day back in the early 70s; and while I was pretty worn out at the end of it, the bike did fine. Anyway, I'm enjoying your channel, and now need to watch the rest of this video!
Great video as always. Love to see motorcycle cruising done on small cc bikes - in a part of the US where likely bigger is always better. Your videos are always so well constructed. A lot of information shared for would-be riders. Looking forward to Part 2. Cheers!
Thanks, Matt! I appreciate the positive feedback! 💙🙏🏼 I don't know what part of the world you're in but, yes, just about everywhere in the US, bigger bikes are "better". People look at my bike and say that it's a "great starter bike". When I tell them I've been riding for 30 years and I intentionally chose a smaller bike, they never know what to say. It's like an alien concept to them. Thanks again! Part 2 coming soon!
@@BackRoadBikerChuck I'm in Vancouver, Canada - so pretty much similar. I once went on the local ferry with my son on a 150cc scooter - I had to line up with all the other motorcycles - lol, it was quite comical. I now have a "proper" 350cc Piaggio. I find the "starter bike" thing interesting - you only get that around motorcycles. No one ever says your Toyota Corolla is a nice starter car.
Geez. You ain’t half got, some lovely roads. Love to join you on them. Pity, no,bike though. Lol If your free you, may like to come Scotland, and do,the NC 500. But stay extra in Ullapool. Some gorgeous scenery also. Looking forward to part 2
I’ve just come across this video… loved it… subscribed. Just coming into riding season up here in BC 🇨🇦. Stay well, and thanks for your efforts in sharing your experiences. Steve.
you bounce off each other seamlessly. really fun video. Now I just need to convince my wife to start riding 🙂. How would you compare the 3 bikes? is your wife's Honda a 300 or 500?
Thanks, Rod! I appreciate the feedback! 💙🙏🏼 My wife's bike is a 300. I've ridden it a little and I think it's fun. We're considering BOTH doing our own separate reviews on this channel of her bike. Here are a couple initial thoughts on the two bikes: - I haven't looked at the stats on her bike but it's definitely lighter than mine. Because of that, or possibly because of the torque, she has more acceleration than I do. But ultimately, my bike is much smoother at higher speeds, which is more important to me. - Her clutch lever is a much easier pull than the Meteor. Just something small I have noticed. - I don't like how her foot pegs are more directly under her. Her bike is designed more like a "standard" style. I prefer the pegs to be more forward, like a cruiser, like the 350. - Her engine sound is a little high-pitched for me. I like the growl of the Meteor. I think the Meteor has just enough of a growl without being too much. - The Rebel has 2 keyholes; one on either side of the engine. The left is to start the bike and the right side one is for locking the bike when you park it. I don't like that small hassle. I love how the meteor has everything you need right on top, in the instrument cluster. Very thoughtful. - I do love the look of her bike. Its big, fat tires, the minimalistic look overall, It's definitely a bike designed to make a bit of an edgy statement. Whereas the Meteor is made to look classy and be more comfortable. I hope that answers your question! And good luck talking your wife into riding with you! It's definitely a fun way to go!
@@BackRoadBikerChuck Thank you very much. very thorough review :-). I was between the two for a while, but i am now committed to the Meteor, which will be delivered next week. Also, the day I decided to buy a bike, RE was my dream and I will finally fulfil it with my 3rd one. went thorough 2 chinese ones to learn and now it's the time to enjoy. The only drawback I find is the lack of storage. I am looking for hard panniers, but they are difficult to come around and expensive. I even emailed RE to ask if they had plans to do a hard case for both sides, but they said it's not on the pipeline and recommended me to get some soft panniers they sell here in France, but i want something lockable. Dear Chuck and Alyssa (i hope i am writing your names correctly). Thanks for sharing your roadtrip with us! Great video. I have one question. How do you communicate together on the bike? Best regards from The Netherlands, Eric
Hi Eric! We used to put in our iPhone earpieces and just call each other and leave the line open. But these days, we just don't use any electronic communication at all. We use a couple of hand & arm signals if we need to pull over. I'm usually listening to music when I'm riding! Thanks for the question and enjoy your ride! 🙏💙

Just something to look into: I think you are marking your videos "made for kids." This prevents subscribers like us from clicking the bell button and getting notified if you have a new video out. You can still select "not made for kids" and un-restrict it for kids at the same time. :)
Thank you for bringing this up, Gerald! I've been struggling with this! I have each one of my videos as NOT made for kids. Also, in my settings, I have chosen "I NEVER PRODUCE CONTENT FOR KIDS". I still can't get that bell to show up. Pretty frustrating. Do you have any idea how to fix this? 💙🙏🏼
