      @@BackRoadBikerChuck I one upped you sir. In Australia, our Draconian road laws are out of control. My beloved R1 Crossplane has now been prepped back for track days and for the road and aged 64 I purchased a 2022 Honda CB125F in the same matte finish as your lovely bike. I still wanted to get out and about with emphasis on corners. I'm a knee down race nut so even this little 125 will lean right off the edge of the tyres in tight 50mph corners. It's a gas! Your review was excellent and Siddhartha Lal has absolutely turned this wonderful old company around where they are taking Harley's market share out by 24% in just 2022 alone! Royal Enfield are now experiencing a 104.8% increase in sales EVERY year here! Stay safe and subscribed and rung the bell from Down Under sir. Cheers.

    Had my Meteor for 2 months now, tried the touring seat but I found the original more comfortable. I also removed the touring screen as it was causing turbulence and a lot of wind noise, much better without it. Rear suspension is a bit hard for the bumpy roads in my area so I might replace the units at some point. Overall a great bike and good value.

      Might be too late for this, but you can consider getting the Nitrox suspension from RE's Classic 350 model and install it in meteor. That's what we do in India if someone doesn't like the suspension meteor. Works really well.

I haven't been able to find a single medium to long term review that goes into detail about it. Every time it gets mentioned in a review it's in passing, without any real depth to it. @@BackRoadBikerChuck Hey, no worries, mate. I wouldn't be surprised if Royal Enfield exports mostly (or solely) the top of the line model overseas. It's no wonder that the overseas consumer would be accustomed to the characteristics of said model. Also in that case, the existence of the lower variants is irrelevant to the overseas consumer.

    Still just 700 miles into my brown supernova Meteor. You mentioned the RE touring seat: I love the stock seat but I did get the touring seat right away, for the improved looks as well as added comfort (also got the seat in black, since I felt the brown seat was too much brown vs. the tank: gorgeous paint color, it should stand out more). Touring seat sits slightly lower and a couple inches further forward, due to the contour. I'm 5'6" and it improved the sit-fit from great to excellent. Extremely recommended.

    Hello and thanks for your review. I´m from Spain and I have a fireball yellow. I´m very happy with it. I put the screen too and I have a touring sit. A couple of weeks ago I did a trip to visit a friend, around 1400km. That´s a long trip here in Spain :-) And I´m very happy with the sit. From my experience the regular sit absorb better the pothole on the road but the touring sit give a better and more comfortable ride when you are doing long distances because is more consistent. I mean after riding for a while the regular sit can loss comfort but not the touring. Try it whenever you have the chance. Greetings!

    I am surprised to see royal Enfield in US. Its an Indian bike since world war 1 and an expensive bike here in India. We have the factory of this bike in a city called Chennai. Royal Enfield had baddays as well especially during recession in 2008. To see our traditional bike in US in 2022 is a different story altogether. I am glad you liked and enjoyed it. Thankyou for the detailed review.

      Glad to see people around the world are very amenable and accept foreign mores as its own and instil it as it's own tradition. Because RE carries British legacy. Was also used a lot in British wars.
      Also the bike is not expensive when you compare it with bikes of same engine size in India. Actually a lesser cc engine from Honda, Suzuki, KTM, etc. will cost more than Royal Enfield. This is because companies charge on what output you're getting and REs generate way lesser power and torque than engines of similar size from other companies.

    Great bike and review. I like the looks, sound, feel and value for money. The only things on my wish list would be a belt drive and perhaps a bit more power for those occasional highway cruises. It's absolutely brilliant and more enjoyable than bigger bikes up to about 60-65 mph but above that just keep in mind that it does start to feel a little strained and it doesn't go faster than around 70 mph as mentioned in the video. Personally I find that the windscreen works against the intention and actually makes the ride more tiresome since it significantly increases air turbulence and noise around my helmet. So I recommend skipping that option or at least trying it before you buy (especially if you're tall like me since a higher helmet position might exaggerate the problem).

    • @gr0ggz
      @gr0ggz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I've read, an Indian Scout 60 has great price to performance ratio and it is belt drive. But you 'd be looking at a $10,000+ price tag, $9,000+ for the Scout 60 Bobber trim.

    I am from India and I know this bike in and out. I watched this video because of your presentation style, no frills and to the point info and to top it off a very polite disarming voice 👍🏻.1 thing which I really liked in your review was the focus on sitting postions. In india avg height of folks is less compared to western world and therefore, most of the cos design bikes for a sitting height and foot pegs position combo such that it suits the avg indian height to cover max consumer base. I being an odd one out at 6'2" find my ankles crushed if the pegs are set under or behind the sitting line and this bike just works fine 👌. So for folks with extra inches over their feet it's a very comfortable ride 👍🏻

My only concern might be that they look to be only mounted at two points (basically the grab-rail mounts). I have seen other rack units from India with a proper 3-point mount. But since you are riding solo, you might be fine with your throw-over bag - probably hold a bunch more than side cases.

    Hello from India. :)
    The tank badge is available in Stellar and SuperNova variants. The base variant, Fireball(in Red or Yellow), has the regular Royal Enfield Name-Logo.
    Such a calm review. I was happy to see this happy review.
    Touring seat might not be liked. It was hitting my bum during the test ride and I wasn't comfortable.
    I think you should be able to order it from here and there must be ways to get it there. If you have Indian friends, do check if they or their family is traveling to The States and ask them to bring it. :)
    Wishing you a million miles of smiles.

      @BackRoadBikerChuck  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Alen! Thank you for the kind words! I do think that the meteor is a good starter bike. If you can sit on it and have your feet flat on the ground, then it’s a good size for you.
      The only reason I would suggest starting with a smaller bike, would be your own confidence level. Some people like to start on maybe a 125 instead of a 350, just so they can get comfortable with turns and handling the bike. However, most people who does that, is ready for a bigger bike in a couple of months.
      If you can find a dealership that will allow you to test drive the bike, that should tell you what you are ready for.

    I had my 300 mile check done at a reputable local bike shop/mechanic, not the dealership. They printed out the 300 mile royal enfield check sheet and I gave them a royal enfield oil filter to replace the old one. Kept receipts . Will this hopefully keep my warranty in-tact? My dealership said it wouldn't be a problem as long as I had the receipt. What is your take on it?

      From what I'm hearing, some people are doing ALL of their own maintenance. They take pictures, shoot video, keep receipts, just so they can prove they did everything on time if they ever need to. I change my oil and plugs myself, but I'm not a trained mechanic. I installed the windscreen, I adjust the springs, stuff like that. Anything beyond that, I take it to the shop. 💙🙏🏼

    On the one bike for one person part, there's quite a feel in having your wife/gf sit behind you as you go riding around the city at the end of the day. It's.. something special. Not that there's anything wrong with soloing, just thought I'd add that
    PS: That service cost is truly breathtaking, lol

Your review was much easier and enjoyable to watch compared most of the in your face, fast paced reviews. Instantly subscribed within first 10 seconds of the video. Do you own other vehicles too? @@sierrachief117 Hey, Thanks for the love! 💙 🙏🏼 At the moment, the Meteor is the only bike I have. My wife has two bikes; a Honda Rebel and a Kawasaki Eliminator. I'm thinking of doing reviews on both of those. I'm definitely going to be doing more Motocamping adventures. Next week I'm going to be staying in a desert teepee with a fire pit in the middle of it. It's going to be a chilly night, so I'm looking forward to that. Thanks again for watching!

    The Meteor 350 is a bit too small for my needs so I'm waiting to see if the Royal Enfield KX838 "Bobber" see's production. The KX838 is a great mix of classic and modern styling, it will make a good stablemate for my Sportster. The new Royal Enfield SG650 is also a great looking machine, a tough looking "Bruiser Cruiser" with an aluminium "Casquette" headlight surround and digital graphics. Royal Enfield is the world's oldest continual production motorcycle manufacturer, dating back to 1901.

      YES! That 838 bobber is looking pretty tight. And the SG650 is a beautiful machine, but I'll be loving that one from a distance. I like my footpegs a little farther forward. Thanks for dropping by! 💙🙏🏼

      The KX 838 will be awesome but that was 3.7-4yrs ago these days the KX838 will be water cooled but that's ok & means more power.I think it needs a more traditional forks but it would be great & a great way for R.E to crack the u.s market especially now Harley Davidson has discontinued 883 I reckon it would be very popular too being a Vtwin. Royal Enfield make the KX838 please.

      @@ruahinesrider Thank you for your reply, we'll just have to wait and see if the KX838 makes an appearance in the motorcycle market place. I doubt if the production version will have the air / oil cooling of the prototype, as you've said water cooling is the way to go. The press have announced that the Indian launch date has now been put back to 2023. The production model will have some changes compared to the prototype, I actually like the covered girder forks, they give the machine an indiviual look, I hope RE keeps them on the production model.

    In the UK Royal Enfield does offer official "commuter panniers" for the Meteor 350 (p/n INR 1950) but these are narrow top opening bins for drop in luggage packs, also available. Practical for city work but not pleasing to the eye. I think decent saddlebags or the tailpack you're already using would be better for your needs. The aftermarket here draws from the Indian RE aftermarket, so there's a huge range of kit available for the model. I envy you the roads you ride, very pleasant, but sad to see we share the same unaware car drivers. Stay safe.

    • @BackRoadBikerChuck

      Thanks, Shaun! I haven't seen the PAIR of hard, lockable panniers for the 350, but I'll search again, now that you say they're out there. Thanks! Yes, it's absolutely beautiful here. As soon as the weather warms up, I'll be back out on the road with new camping videos! Thanks so much for watching.
